  • Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Quotes 248. The quote today is by Lao Tzu , a Chinese

  • philosopher. A famous Chinese philosopher. And all right. Let's take a look at the

  • quote first. "Watch your thoughts, they become your words. Watch your words, they

  • become your actions. Watch your actions, they become your habits. Watch your

  • habits, they become your character. Watch your character, it becomes your

  • destiny. Yeah. So this is a very good quote. It's very kind of deep. It's not

  • the first one that we've done by Lao Tzu. We've probably done at least three or

  • four. I've covered three or four videos before him you know, of him before. And

  • they're all pretty good. Anyway, let's continue with the note here. Lao Tzu

  • with this quote, he is showing you how it all progresses. How it all moves about

  • First and most importantly, it begins with your thoughts.

  • Thus you should try hard to control them. Yeah. I know now most of you are probably

  • saying well that's easier said that done. I agree with you. It is easier said

  • than done. Sometimes you know, your thoughts have a way of you know, creeping

  • bad things in there that you just got to try to get rid of them. Get them out. Ignore

  • them or force them out somehow. If your thoughts start to wander toward bad or

  • evil deeds deeds you know, actions or bad habits too. You know don't make a habit

  • of bad things. This is where you should try to put a stop to it. Right, right at

  • this point. Try to nip it in the bud and remember nip it in the bud would always

  • mean to try to stop something bad at an early stage.

  • You know, the idea you know alludes to a flower before it opens. Before it

  • develops too much. So you got to try to nip it in the bud. Okay. Before it develops

  • further. Try to eliminate it or reverse it. You know , go back

  • the other way. If you fail, try to stop it at the earliest stage possible,

  • especially before harmful actions. Yeah. If you could avoid that you know, that's

  • probably most important. Even if you can't stop the bad or harmful thoughts and

  • then the words... Words you're already starting to get bad. But actions now and

  • now you're kind of crossing the line there. Now and then you don't want it to go further

  • than that. Okay, good. So trying to stop or reverse it at a later stage is better

  • than not at all. On the bright side, on the positive side. Perhaps positive

  • thoughts by the same method could lead to a positive destiny. So you know, if

  • positive thoughts maybe could lead to positive words. Which could lead to

  • positive actions. Which could lead to positive habits. Which may lead to a

  • positive character and hopefully that would lead to a positive destiny. Well

  • let's hope so. Anyway, okay let's continue. Instead of allowing

  • your destiny to go in a negative direction. So, so here let's continue.

  • Either way trying to become aware of it. So it's only if you become aware of it

  • that you can do something about it that you can take your destiny into your own

  • hands. A lot of times we don't focus enough to become aware of it. And we kind

  • of allow it to just go in, in a path we should try to control it. If at all

  • possible. Okay. Anyway hope you got it. I hope it was clear. I hope it was food for thought. I hope

  • it was informative. Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
