  • Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Lesson 329. The title of today's lesson

  • is \" Say a Large Amount Not a Big Amount or a High Amount. \" So especially when

  • you're using amounts , most of the time we should be saying a large amount of

  • something. So let's take a look at a few examples here. Again, with the X. This is

  • wrong. They made a big amount of errors. Yeah. Even a westerner would say... you know

  • he would understand this, but this does sound a little off. We don't usually say

  • a big amount of errors. We'd almost always say a large amount of errors. So

  • All right. So it's the first example. Example number two. That dessert contains

  • a high amount of sugar. All right. Really, I could almost hear Westerners say this, but you

  • would definitely understand it. But really a large amount is really the

  • proper one here. So that dessert contains a large amount of sugar. We should really

  • be using large with amount. Now of course it could be rephrased

  • another way too. We can say that dessert has a high sugar content and you could

  • use high that way. Sure, or number three here. Again with the

  • X. This is wrong. He made a big amount of money from investing in crypto

  • currencies. Yeah. It's not quite right. Again the correct and the more proper

  • way would be he made a large amount of money from investing in crypto

  • currencies. Anyway, I hope you got it. I hope it's clear. Thank you for your time.

  • Bye-bye.
