  • Hi everyone! I know it's been a really long time since I've done anything ukulele related, and especially a tutorial.

  • I think my last one was... summer? Wow, so it's been a while. Obviously, I'm at school right now

  • so it's been very difficult to push out new content, new videos, but I'm back now.

  • And I have a little bit of free time so I'm gonna teach you how to play a really fun song on the ukulele,

  • and that song is "Remember Me" from the movie Coco, which is Disney Pixar's new movie.

  • It came out... a couple weeks ago? Yeah, I saw it the day it came out, and... ah, it touched me.

  • That's not a good - that's not a good way to put that.

  • There's a song that recurs throughout the movie, and without spoiling too much...

  • Yeah, I don't want to give too much background because it's a good movie, and you should just go see it.

  • This song is "Remember Me".

  • I've also transposed this song up a couple steps

  • because it's easier for me to sing and more importantly easier for me, and you, to play.

  • So unfortunately this is not the original key, but it's easier, so, yay!

  • I'm going to play the first verse one time through with the chords up here

  • so you can play along if you want, and then I'll walk you through it step by step.

  • Remember me

  • Though I have to say goodbye

  • Remember me, don't let it make you cry

  • For even if I'm far away, I hold you in my heart

  • ♫ I sing a secret song to you each night we are apart

  • So most of this song doesn't have a really specific strumming pattern. In the movie, it's kind of freeform.

  • The way I've always - I've just been like,

  • I've just been going like:

  • It's just whatever feels right to me.

  • I'm usually doing kind of a down down down, and I'm not even strumming with my with my fingernails,

  • I'm using my thumb 'cause it's a much softer song. The song is sung as a lullaby in this in this part of the movie,

  • so yeah, it should definitely have a lullaby-esque sound. Not too harsh.

  • Obviously I'm not singing in full voice because it's supposed to have that sound, also

  • it's very high for me. So the first half of the verse is D

  • A#

  • D

  • Which is super easy! The next part is a little more difficult: Csus2

  • F#7, which is crazy hard to play. Bm, Csus2

  • D, G

  • A#, and then Asus4 which is like A but you move

  • the finger down the second... the second finger down to the second fret.

  • So you're playing: first and second string are both on the 2nd fret. So the full verse again is:

  • Remember me

  • Though I have to say goodbye

  • Remember me

  • Don't let it make you ♫ (this is a hard chord)

  • cry

  • For even if I'm far away I hold you in my heart

  • ♫ I sing a secret song to you each night we are apart

  • On to the second verse!

  • Remember me

  • Though I have to travel far

  • Remember me

  • Each time you hear a sad guitar

  • Know that I'm with you the only way that I can be

  • Until you're in my arms again

  • Remember me

  • That part was a little rough because it's a lot of difficult chords in quick succession

  • so I will break that down to pieces for you, because clearly... yeah.

  • I'm struggling a little with this song. So the beginning is exactly the same as the first verse which is:

  • D, A#

  • D

  • And this is where it changes: we're gonna play an Am7

  • Which is just this. There's no fingers on the fret board. Favorite chord! And then a D7.

  • And then this part is the

  • "several chords in quick succession" part. Super fun! And those chords are G, G, F#7, E, Em.

  • Know that I'm with you the only way that I can be

  • Like that. So it goes:

  • Until you're in my arms again

  • D, A7, A

  • Yeah. I played it a little differently before I played the A afterwards. I think the way that you do is it goes:

  • D, and A7, and then A are on the beats. Like, they're on the words "arms, again".

  • Yeah. As far as I know. And then the last line is:

  • Bb, Gm, D.

  • So it goes:

  • Remember me

  • Yeah.

  • Know that I'm with you the only way that I can be

  • Until you're in my arms again

  • Remember me

  • No. D! ♫ Me! ♫ Like that.

  • Okay, I hope that was helpful. I know I messed up a lot, but I'm a little rusty.

  • I'm getting... I'm getting back into it. If you have any questions, please put them below.

  • The tab will be in the description because

  • yeah, you will need that as you play. Anyway. Thank you so so much for watching.

  • If you enjoyed this video, please like and subscribe.
