Today we're here at National Museum of Taiwan History.
It is said that there are a lot of educational
and academic stuff in here in this museum.
So if you want to learn something,
let's go check it out.
National Museum of Taiwan History
is a museum dedicated to Taiwan
The route is arranged in chronological order
And lead its visitors to take a glimpse at
the history of the residents on this island
Starting from the daily life of indigenous people,
to the ancient boat of Han people,
the Dutch rule and the Japanese rule,
and the chaotic society after World War II,
the journey is an overview of Taiwan's modern history
The museum itself is a time machine that
takes us on a journey to the history of Formosa
This is my friend, Yu Chen,
Hi, every one
Could you please give me
a tour in National Museum of Taiwan History?
Ok, follow me
In terms of its spatial design,
National Museum of Taiwan features high ceiling and large span,
providing a spacious exhibition venue
Walking inside it is just like having a time travel
Hsuanhui, we're now here at
the permanent exhibition gallery of National Museum of Taiwan
The exhibition is called “Our Land, Our People: the Story of Taiwan”
This exhibition displays 這個展區所呈現的是
the stories of Taiwan, it's people, the land, and the life here
You can see what Taiwan is like during different periods of time
What we see now
is the Matzu Patrol and Pilgrimage.
In this exhibition, you can see the religious beliefs
and customs of Taiwanese people
The objects here have their special implications
For example, the person in front of the procession beating drums
and gongs is called “Bao Ma Zai (the informer)”
Bao Ma Zai doesn't wear glasses
In Taiwanese, “glasses without glass”
is a metaphor telling people “not to be defiant”
Isn't it interesting?
Don't you think this scenary is quite familiar?
That's right!
In Tainan, you can always see such a scenery once a while.
Because there are lots of temples,
like Matzu temple and other temples, 例如媽祖廟
like Matzu temple and other temples, 例如媽祖廟
they would always go on the road,
and play some musical instruments,
to tell people that Matzu is coming.
This is our special feature
It's a grocery store stand
Do you want to give it a try?
Ok, here. It's on you now.
(Peddling, selling)
This is a Taiwanese grocery store stand
It's a regular activity where tourists can experience
the peddler convention in Taiwan
It's a part of the permanent exhibition
The grocery store stand is archaic
There are many traditional toys,
mosquito coils,
and tools to remove head lice
You don't see them elsewhere nowadays
They're very special
Wow! See, these old-style stuffs,
and I just found something really cool!
See this one?
You know what this is?
This is a jump rope.
This is made of a lot of rubber bands,
and you don't even have to spend
a hundred Taiwanese dollars to get a jump rope.
All you need is to collect a lot of rubber bands,
and just tie them up,
and then you can jump,
and do some sports.
One special thing about this museum is that
there are sometimes some random drama performances
combining history stories here in the museum.
So, if you visit here more frequently,
maybe you would get the chance to encounter this crazy,
special performance.
In addition to permanent exhibitions
There are also many other exhibitions in National Museum of Taiwan
Many of the exhibitions here are sponsored by Taiwanese people
During the visit,
I found that the exhibitions are displayed in many different ways
You get to see the different aspects of a theme
They increases the variety of the exhibition
We're now here at the exhibition venue for children
Aside from permanent exhibitions,
there are story houses and theater performances
as well as DIY activities in the venue for children
They're very popular
I'm really impressed with the exhbitions going on in this museum.
