  • Oscar is the most beloved and respected man

  • in Hollywood and there's a very good reason why

  • just look at him

  • keeps his hands where you can see them

  • never says a rude word, and most importantly

  • no penis at all. He is literally a statue of

  • limitations and that's the kind of men

  • we need more of in this town.

  • What happened with Harvey, what's happening

  • all over was long overdue. We can't let

  • bad behavior slide anymore, the world is

  • watching us, we need to set an example.

  • We are..., we are so happy to be here

  • but a little nervous too because a few years ago

  • people were saying that Oscars were so white

  • and since then some real

  • -progress has been made. -mm-hmm

  • but we when we came out together we know

  • some of you were thinking are the Oscars

  • to black now?

  • But we just want to say don't worry

  • there are so many more white people to come to.

  • umhmm

  • So many, we just came from back stage

  • and there are tons of them back there.

  • So I'm hyperventilating a little bit if

  • I fall over pick me up because I've got

  • some things to say. If I may be so

  • honored to have all the female nominees

  • in every category stand with me in this

  • room tonight. The actors, Meryl if you do

  • it everybody else will, come on, the filmmakers, the producers, the directors, the writers, the cinematographers

  • I have two words to leave with you tonight

  • ladies and gentlemen, Inclusion rider

  • I made a promise to our

  • six-year-old lead actress that I'd sign

  • this speech. Deafness is a silent

  • disability, you can't see it and it's not

  • life-threatening so I want to say the

  • biggest of thank you to the Academy for

  • allowing us to put this in front of a

  • mainstream audience.

  • I say to my mother, thank you for your love and support

  • put the kettle on, I'm bringing Oscar home

  • With Coco we tried to take a step

  • forward toward a world where all

  • children can grow up seeing characters

  • in movies that look, and talk, and live

  • like they do. Marginalized people deserve

  • to feel like they belong.

  • Representation matters.
