Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Hey guys! This is Kaykrizz, you may know me from my blog beaflightattendant.blogpost.com Last week I posted a blog post wherein I said I'm in a dilemma because I wanted to create an interview tips video but then there is a big event coming up in the Philippines. The Qatar Airways open day on September 27 If I take my time in doing this original video idea that I had in mind, it will take a lot of time and it may not reach the people who might benefit from this video which I planned to make. The votes are in. Today is the deadline. People voted for me to make a talk video so that it would be beneficial for them. That is what I'm doing right now. **Disclaimer** This is going to be a very long video. What I will be talking about will be based everything on my personal experience. Each and every recruitment day, sometimes they apply a different technique. Im not saying that what I will be saying this video will be the exact same experience that you will be having on your interview A little background about me, I'm not working for Qatar Airways but I am a flight attendant for a different airline right now and the thing about Qatar Airways is they are always hiring on my home town which is Cebu, Philippines. They always hire for about every three months that is why I had the opportunity to apply every three months. So many times I got rejected and I am wondering why, What is it I'm doing wrong and I did not stop until the last time that I applied I got through all the stages of the interview and I was just waiting for my medical, then suddenly they sent us regret emails. That doesn't make sense but maybe it's not just meant to be for me. I believe that they were having cuts at that time so those who are pending applicants they just let go. That's just me, but all of us were waiting for five months. Some of you might already know this, from my writings or from my other blog posts or my other video "The process of how to be a flight attendant" I'm just going to give the specific process that they do in Qatar Airways. Disclaimer! This might not be the one that you will get through but generally for the past 10 years, this is what they have been doing. They have a three-day process 1st day - Open day 2nd day - Assessment day 3rd day - One on One Interview day/ Final interview 1st day - Open day Open call for everybody to come into the hotel, send in the resume or CV (Curriculum Vitae) and pictures. They will talk to you a minute or two and then that's it, you're done. It may sound fast and easy but it is not. They will be open only from 7am to 12 moon and because of the line or the queue of people who are applying, it might take the whole day if you are late. If they like you they will be sending you a text message or a call inviting you to the second day. 2nd day - Assessment day They will have a presentation about the company What is Qatar Airways all about. - English exam, - Reach Test, you have to reach through the wall You have to reach the point of 212 cm. IF you want to practice at home, that's a good tip. they used to not have a height requirement for that whatever height you are as long as you reach 212 cm that's okay. On the latest advertisement from IPAMS website, It is required to have at least 5'2 of height, and you have to reach 212 cm. Those are one of the changes that I haven't experienced personally. Those are the ones that they are implementing right now. - They will ask scars, moles or tattoos in your body. You're supposed to show them any scars or tattoos you have in your body. That's it, you will be back on your seat. Then all of you will be told to go out of the room and come back they will be giving out the numbers who have successfully passed that around and they will have to continue on with the process. For the others, "We regret to tell you", "Thank you for coming" "Thank you for coming, we regret to tell you didn't pass at this time. You are welcome to apply next time" Those who passed, there will be a group assessment or a group activity that you will have to go through. It varies, there are different types of styles that they do. I'm sure it varies every time on this part. I have experienced different ways of group activities. They will be asking you to go out and come back again and then they will announce the numbers of the candidates that made it through that round, for those people who made it they will be asked to fill up forms some will have to change their pictures, they'll be asked to put in the schedule of the interview that they want on the third day. On the third day, you will be having a one-on-one interview with the recruiters. That will be a 30-minute one-on-one video. You and two of the recruiters in a room. They will get to know you more about the things and stuff, ask you questions You will have to wait two weeks or more for the result of that interview. I guess I have explained the process now. I would go on to the tips. 1. PREPARE - prepare your resume printed out in a long or short black paper it doesn't matter 2. Have your pictures with you. I have here sample of pictures that I used. This one is a passport size picture in a light blue background You're wearing something formal. For Qatar Airways they like the hair of the applicants always be side parted This kind of hairstyle is the one that they want for Qatar Airways. You have to wear this hairstyle so on your pictures, on yourself on the interviews I have you two whole body pictures. This is what I originally brought on the day. This will be accepted on the first day. This one word looks really good. This is a 4R size picture in a light blue background. The last time I applied for Qatar Airways, I got in with this picture they asked me to change it. I had to change it because number one the background have clouds in it and second, I don't have the right position of the body. I'm going to show you now is another 4R picture with plain sky blue background. I'm wearing formal clothes. This is how Qatar Airways exactly wants their pictures to be. You have to have your feet together your arms on the side, your hair on the side part. Everything must be symmetrical even your eyebrows. I think that is the reason why I got a pending application because of this. my eyebrows are literally not symmetrical so on the pictures it shows. One picture showed one of my eyebrow is arching like this That's the reason they asked me to repeat my picture When I repeated my picture I was then bumped off to the waiting list. I wasn't able to go right ahead to the medical exam and because I was bumped off to the waiting this and something happened on that time, I got eliminated. But usually people who were asked to repeat their picture before me All of them got accepted. Someone repeated her picture 10x but then she still got accepted because it's just the picture it is not a reason that they will bump off people but because something happened that's why they bumped me off and all the others who have repeated their pictures and all the others who had repeated medical results it's very important thing to have your pictures right. because if not, it could cost you the position just like what happened to me. It's important to get your pictures right. everything must be symmetrical one side must reflect the others side. even the eyebrows, smile and everything On the picture make sure that you wear a stud earring that will not cover your ears Make sure you wear only a wrist watch. No other accessories You got your resume, your pictures, make sure that you got your outfit your ready. Research what kind of outfit they have, make sure that you resemble the color, cut and style for guys and girls. For guys, make sure that you have a three-piece suit. You have a coat, long sleeved shirt, trousers and dress pants Because that is what they have as the uniform for guys. Girls, you should have an airline skirt, just a formal skirt Wear short-sleeved shirt, A short sleeved blouse with coat in any color. I think navy blue or black will be okay. you don't have to have a tailor-made suit in maroon color. It has to be inspired by their uniform also no-no to scarves and hats! This is not a costume party. I don't see people wearing scarves on the second day. No hats and scarves. Just plain white shirt that resembles the white inner blouse that the Qatar Airways have. Make sure that you have a coat. I even saw a girl, she wore all black and she got in. They really isn't strict to that but make sure that the style and cut resemble. Make sure that your grooming superb! I highly recommend side parted hair. That is part of their uniform during their flight. The girls are instructed to have that hair style. Basically the idea is that once you walk into that interview they will look at you head to toe Qatar Airways Cabin Crew material. Make sure that you work on that and once you have everything prepared your resume, pictures, makeup, hair outfit, shoes. Your shoes have to be plain closed shoes. No nothing at all, no ribbons, no jewels no sparkly things. make sure that is about two to three inches high. or an inch is okay. You don't have to wear very skyrocketing high heels. You will be standing in line for a long time. You want to be there as the best version of yourself. Not that version of yourself that is dying from your shoes Plain black leather shoes. I see people wearing nude. It's better you show them that you're a Qatar Airways Cabin Crew material by looking the part of a Qatar Airways cabin crew one more thing about the preparation make sure that your nails are either in French tip red that matches your lips or a nude colored nail polish because those are the nail polish that a cabin crew is approved to use make sure that you also use those those nail polish color again this comes back making sure you package
