  • since I stopped doing daily vlogs

  • so I’m bringing this one to you!

  • I am going to get dinner with Sherry

  • were going to this special night market

  • it’s really close but weve never been to before

  • I’ve walked by it before in my vlogs

  • but I’ve never actually tried the food

  • so I’m excited to try it

  • I don’t often eat night market food

  • since I don’t have enough time to explore those areas

  • but today I’m going

  • I’m pretty excited to try it

  • I’m going to take you with me on the adventure

  • so let’s head out!

  • and by the way

  • I finally got my phone fixed

  • you can expect a lot more awesome vlogs coming

  • because I’ll be able to record

  • like

  • in all demensionsbasically

  • because I’ll be able to record

  • my face….

  • ok lets just go

  • I only have $300 ntd on me right now

  • So I have really no idea what were going to be able to get

  • but I’m excited to see how we can stretch it.

  • there are a lot of nightmarkets in Taipei

  • and I’d like to make a video about each one

  • let’s get started here

  • This one is called shuangcheng night market

  • It’s located in an area called qingguang

  • which has been developing since the early 1900’s

  • the market actually began to form during the late 1950’s

  • because of the presence of an American Military base

  • Shuangcheng market street used to be full of bars

  • but over the years the food stands have taken over

  • It’s not as popular as other night markets

  • such as Ningxia or Raohe

  • but Shuangcheng is unique in its own way

  • this market is special because it’s actually a day and night market

  • breakfast lunch or dinner you can always find it open

  • Night market culture is huge here in Taiwan

  • the closest thing we have to this in America is a state fair

  • but while that lasts 2-3 days,

  • this happens everyday rain or shine

  • you can expect nightmarkets across Taiwan to open

  • right when the sun begins to set

  • Meeting sherry now

  • were heading together to the market now

  • it’s a really close walk,

  • just about a block away

  • I’m really curious to see what kind of things they sell there

  • and what we can afford.

  • this Sherry’s first time going as well.

  • we take a turn at the corner

  • and see the night market ahead of us

  • were first going to walk around the whole thing

  • then see if any particular stand

  • stands out

  • it’s just a normal weekday night

  • but as you can see it’s packed.

  • after circling the whole night market

  • we see a few places that peak our interest

  • starting with a ramen place

  • where we ordered curry ramen

  • and a special Korean dish

  • each dish is 90 nt each

  • looking back, while recording this voiceover

  • the curry here really has a remarkable taste

  • it’s not like anything else I’ve had in Taiwan.

  • I’m not quite sure what ingredients are in it

  • but I imagine it’s something like this.

  • we also order some vegetables

  • since I really don’t get enough of them these days

  • Sherry and I choose two vegetables ingredients

  • which theyll make into a miso soup for us

  • this costs 40 nt

  • and now we wait

  • for our dinner to be prepared by both stands.

  • the mood here is pretty chill,

  • it’s not really a tourist destination like other markets

  • so the feeling is pretty laid back

  • the curry is finished now

  • as well as the miso soup

  • so we begin to head home

  • in America it’s way to expensive to go out every night to eat

  • but in Taipei it’s possible to buy dinner...

  • but in Taipei it’s possible to buy dinner out every night

  • without going broke.

  • It’s almost too convenient at this point.

  • my camera’s out of batteries now

  • I’m going to use me phone

  • the vegetable soup is really delicious

  • I really need to make myself eat more vegetables

  • the korean meal was basically dapoki

  • The english spelling of this word is really ridiculous

  • theres no way anybody actually spells it like this

  • right?

  • anyway!

  • it’s a simple spicy taste but I like it a lot

  • Finally we have the ramen curry

  • which is like heaven

  • I honestly don’t know why I like this so much

  • in total for dinner we spent $220 nt

  • which is $7.20

  • for two people, you really cant beat it.

  • so I’m home now

  • got my fan

  • everything is fine

  • were going to eat dinner now

  • and just relax

  • thank you for watching

  • I hope you like the new style

  • It’s not going to be like the old daily vlogs

  • it’s going to be something new and special

  • you can expect a lot more like this coming soon

  • I’m filming a lot of cool things

  • thank you guys so much for watching

  • make sure you use a fan

  • and not AC too much

  • mostly because it’s too expensive

  • I don’t want you to waste your money

  • I’ll see you guys soon!

  • Bye
