  • - Today--

  • - The best smartphone plans.

  • (cash registering dinging) (synthesized music tones)

  • - Hello, Savings, is that you?

  • - Hey, it is.

  • - That was rehearsed,

  • as you can see why that was so effective.

  • (laughs)

  • Hi, I'm the YouTube Deal Guy, Matt Granite.

  • I profile huge price drops, daily deals, savings,

  • and lots of freebies.

  • - I'm intern Amy and I help him.

  • - And today we are going to help you save money

  • on summer smartphone plans.

  • Now, with back to school right around the corner,

  • that's when we see a lot of the price drops.

  • And today with no company paying us

  • to say nice things about them,

  • I want to profile which smartphone plans are the best,

  • and then Amy's going to tell us who she's with.

  • We see many of the best smartphone promotions

  • during the summer.

  • T-Mobile, for a single-line carrier,

  • with unlimited data, talk and text,

  • is still in the number one spot.

  • Other perks tied to T-Mobile include

  • free video streaming that doesn't count against your data,

  • no roaming fees, or long distance charges

  • for those of you traveling in Canada or Mexico.

  • For two lines, on a smartphone plan

  • with unlimited data, talk, and text,

  • Virgin Mobile, at $60 per month,

  • and Boost Mobile at $65 for the two lines,

  • are the two best grabs.

  • And for four lines, with unlimited talk and text,

  • T-Mobile, at $100 per month,

  • is back in that number one spot.

  • Now, while T-Mobile had some reception issues in our test,

  • and couldn't quite compete with Verizon, AT&T

  • when it came to coverage, it is improving,

  • and also offered the best customer service in our test.

  • If you want to check the signal strength in your area,

  • you can always test drive a smartphone for free

  • with most carriers to see if it works for you,

  • but the website, opensignal.com was spot on

  • in determining which carrier covered which community best.

  • Alright, intern Amy, spill it!

  • Who are you with?

  • - I am with Virgin Mobile,

  • it's right there.

  • Do you, does it say Virgin Mobile?

  • - It does, your phone says Virgin Mobile on it.

  • - I have Virgin Mobile

  • and I have never really had a problem with getting service.

  • I was actually out camping recently,

  • middle of the woods,

  • Verizon didn't have service, but I did.

  • Don't really know how that happened, but it did.

  • - And I'm actually with T-Mobile,

  • and again they are not paying me,

  • although they are welcome to.

  • - Yeah, me too! (laughs)

  • - I have actually had tremendous, tremendous experiences.

  • I drive at least five to ten hours every week,

  • and a lot of that is scouting down deals,

  • and I have not had reception issues

  • except in very remote areas.

  • And if you're not part of an urban population,

  • as I know many of our subscribers are not,

  • they are not the carrier for you, but they are improving.

  • - I actually had T-Mobile, before I had Virgin Mobile.

  • I switched when I got a new phone,

  • because there were, you know, carrier issues

  • when it came to switching phones.

  • And T-Mobile was always great for me too.

  • - And for some of the more expensive carriers,

  • you're going to get more coverage.

  • That's just unfortunately a thing right now,

  • but hopefully that will change.

  • And if there's anything else you want to save money on,

  • ask us!

  • - Yes, guys, we love hearing from you.

  • I love reading all of your comments,

  • and I will respond if you write my name in them.

  • - And we're just curious, what carrier are you with?

  • Feel free to leave us a note.

  • I just want to get a sense of who's with who,

  • because, it's interesting.

  • - Thank you guys so much for watching,

  • as always, thank you for being here,

  • we love our subscribers, we love our viewers.

  • Be sure to leave a comment below,

  • and, if you're not yet subscribed,

  • click that thumbs up button.

  • - Peace.

  • Did I do it the cool way?

  • - The, no, it's kind of like, peace.
