  • Utopia In The Cloud

  • is a junior art design project created by 2 French designers

  • named A Portee De Souffle

  • They are 2 talented women who aimed to breath new life into Nagoya

  • with the concept of continuous breath.

  • The event took place at the Nagoya TV tower

  • which is inspired by the Eiffel Tower in France.

  • This project was collaboration with Arts Bridge Cities

  • which is a global team based in Nagoya

  • with the mission to explore the power of creativity and collaboration.

  • I'm at Nagoya TV tower right now.

  • There is an art event here.

  • And basically like this is supposed to represent Nagoya TV tower as a living organism

  • breathes in out and out.

  • so if you look over here

  • you can see like the air. It's supposed to bring life to the tower.

  • It's just like an art design project that was created by the 2 really beautiful and talented art students, design students from France.

  • This is pretty cool. I've never been in anything like this before so.

  • I was able to speak to the 2 designers about the project.

  • So let's here what they have to say.

  • Where are you from? What is Utopia in the Cloud?

  • We are from France. We are students.

  • We are presenting this A Portee De Souffles.

  • which is a project here in Nagoya.

  • We wanted to make a breath. to do something light with movement.

  • There is some shades with the fabric that is moving.

  • What inspired you to create and take part in this project?

  • The theme of this contest was...

  • Well...these installations had to create a WOW effect.

  • So we took the idea of "breathing in" and transformed it into an art installation.

  • So we started from the idea of "breathing in" and "breathing out, which can be associated

  • with the fact that we are in this tower that's 90 meters high.

  • when you see the view from up here, it literally takes your breath away

  • because of how beautiful it is!

  • So we used the original architecture's shapes and structure as a model

  • and we decided to fill this architecture with shapes we created with fabric and plastic

  • For example here this place has a lot of beams, which creates interesting dynamics

  • so we decided to fill these spaces with our installations.

  • How long did this project take?

  • You can say in French.

  • We started some months ago in November

  • It was for our competition in our school.

  • We worked on it very hard before coming here.

  • We learned we won this competition in December.

  • We had a lot of works to do before coming here.

  • We've been here three weeks.

  • Is this your first time in Japan?

  • Yes.

  • What do you love about Japan?

  • Everything.

  • It's very different. Great food.

  • Food is good, right?

  • So many drawings everywhere.
