Who doesn't enjoy relaxing with a nice cold brew with some of your friends?
But the more beers you drink, the rounder your belly becomes. Why?
A typical bottle of beer contains about 150 calories,
and if you down several in one sitting, you can end up with serious calorie overload.
Can your belly tell the difference between a beer calorie and a regular calorie?
The answer is NO! They can't.
So what's the deal?
Why do they call it "A beer belly"?
It all comes down to the serving size.
A beer average is about 12 ounces per serving, while a glass of wine, it's about 5 ounces.
And a shot about one and half ounces.
With beer, you end up drinking more of it to get the same buzz as beer's less maligned cousins.
More beer equals more calories.
Bottom line, if you drank wine in greater quantity than beer, the expression could just as easily be "wine belly."
But that's not a thing.
