  • Hey guys, welcome to Gadgets Unleashed. Today I'm going to show you how to significantly

  • increase the battery life on your G3. So as some of you would already know, the LG G2

  • had an impressive battery life and the G3 falls short of that. So how to increase your

  • battery life to match the G2? Or even surpass it? So as you can see I'm having 18% battery

  • life right now. Let's show you what has been going on to my battery today. So battery...

  • OK! As you can see I've roughly 12 hours of battery life. It looks very lousy.

  • But the most important thing is the screen on time. OK, so as you can see, I've used this

  • phone for 12 hours on battery, and 6 hours out of 12 hours is actually screen on time.

  • Previously before I did this tweak, the maximum I've been up to was about 4 hours. And I've

  • 2 extra hours and there's still 18% battery life left. So what did I do? OK, so

  • first thing first, you have to find this app called NOMone.

  • It's a free app, what you need to do is to install and open this app. What this app does, is that

  • it actually changes the resolution of your screen. You do know that you are using a Quad

  • HD display, and that display is actually reducing your battery life significantly. By changing

  • the display resolution, you're actually saving up a lot on the power used to drive the display.

  • So what I did was I change the settings to 1080p Full HD display. It's 1080 width,

  • 1920 height, with a DPI of 469. The original DPI was 640 but I change to 469 because after

  • changing your resolution everything just go haywire. After changing to this resolution,

  • it matches the previous look of the device as close as possible. So I find 469 to be

  • the most accurate. Before you apply, I have to give some disclaimers first. After changing

  • your resolution, some apps will break. Especially LG apps. Those apps that come with this phone,

  • will break. Because these apps are actually made for 2K display, Quad HD display. But

  • after changing to 1080p display, they will just crash. So I'll show you an example.

  • Let's say I open the dialer, the standard LG dialer. It crashed! Another example, not sure if Quick

  • Memo works. Oh it works. OK how about, let's see file manager. OK, so most

  • of the LG apps would not work, and some other third party apps would not work. But majority

  • of the third party apps should work. So what do I do is I actually... Assuming,

  • let's say gallery. The stock gallery will crash. So I use a third party app for everything, so

  • I used QuickPic (As a gallery replacement). I used Dialer+ (As dialer replacement). And

  • so on so forth. For every single app that can be replaced, I will replace it. So this

  • is a workaround, but driving 1080p display is so much lenient to the battery and is not

  • hot at all! Your phone don't feel hot at all. So the overheating problems as mentioned by

  • other people, other reviewers, is gone. There's no overheating problem at all. The battery

  • life is fantastic. The phone is fast and snappy. Aside from compatibility issue I'm actually

  • quite liking this device and these settings. So I hope that this might help your G3 to

  • last as long as you like it to be. And as always, thanks for watching. Please remember

  • to like and subscribe. Thank you very much.
