  • -Hey, guys.

  • It's Mindy from Cute Girls Hairstyles.

  • And today I'm here with Kamri, and we're

  • going to show you a hairstyle that we're calling upward lace

  • braid.

  • Now this one's great because with it being the holiday

  • season, it's a fantastic one to wear to your holiday

  • parties that's quick and easy.

  • For this hairstyle you can have short hair, long hair,

  • wet hair, dry hair, curly hair, or straight hair.

  • It will work on any of them.

  • We've opted today to just run a straightener over her hair

  • and I've parted it just slightly off to one side.

  • I'm going to go back up to the front

  • here and just pick up a section of hair that's

  • going to become our first little section of braid.

  • Now when you're normally doing a lace braid,

  • you know that you only bring hair in on one side,

  • and typically, it's the top side.

  • So you're pulling the strands in a downward motion

  • like this to add them into the braid.

  • And in this braid we're going to reverse that.

  • We're actually going to be taking the strands

  • from the bottom part of the hair and pulling them upward

  • into the braid, which is why we're calling it an upward lace

  • braid.

  • So you're going to take this, divide it into three pieces,

  • and just go ahead and do one very typical section of braid.

  • We're not going to drop any pieces like a waterfall,

  • but we're going to go in right here

  • and we're going to just move this hair over a little.

  • So we kind of want to reach underneath

  • and we're going to grab just a little section of hair.

  • And this is the key to this hairstyle.

  • Do you see how you can see the hair actually pulling back

  • and this is still kind of laying over the top?

  • That's exactly what you want as you pull the hair.

  • You want to see that little section of hair going back

  • into the braid.

  • So we're adding that in and then we

  • do another normal stitch of hair.

  • When we get to this side again, I'm

  • going to just move some hair over because I kind of want

  • to reach underneath and pick up a little bit of hair.

  • And again, I'm looking for that pulled back motion in the hair

  • and then falling piece.

  • We're going to add that into the braid

  • and we're just going to continue to do this

  • as we go towards the back of her head.

  • And again, we're not adding any hair in on that top side.

  • So I'll do it one more time.

  • You kind of just take your finger

  • and push forward a little bit and then scoop out

  • a little piece of hair and add it in.

  • And for her, when I get about halfway

  • through the back of her head, I'm

  • going to go ahead and just do a couple of stitches

  • of a normal braid because I'm going to go back and do it

  • on the other side and meet them in the middle.

  • But another great option that we have done

  • is to continue this all the way around

  • and then when you get to this side, just kind of bobby

  • pin the end down underneath so you have this stranding all

  • the way in one continuous piece instead

  • of doing two that meet in the middle.

  • So now we're going to repeat the exact same process

  • on the other side of her head.

  • When you get to where you have both the braids

  • finished you're just going to pull them together and use

  • an elastic to hook them up and secure them.

  • You have lots of options here.

  • I could have continued the braids all the way down

  • and secured them at the bottom.

  • At this point you could turn this part of the hair

  • into another braid and make it a cute flower on the back

  • or you can just brush it out like we're going to today

  • and use a cute bow for the accent-- lots and lots

  • of options.

  • OK, guys, let's do the final spin.

  • You can see all those fun pieces pulling

  • into that lace braid on both sides.

  • And it really almost looks like a waterfall braid.

  • It's a faux waterfall braid.

  • So there you have it.

  • If you guys follow our family on Instagram at Cute Girls

  • Hairstyles, you know that recently we

  • went to Utah to participate in setting a Guinness

  • Book of World Records, the largest nativity video.

  • Now when we went over there, we took the whole family

  • and the crew and we got to participate

  • in this amazing Christmas video, and it's

  • about the true meaning of Christmas,

  • and really sharing the gift of Christmas with other people.

  • So if you guys want to check it out,

  • it's up and live and amazing.

  • It's right here or in the description box below.

  • Be sure to check for the little kids.

  • The whole family was in it.

  • We had an angel and some shepherds and a lamb

  • and Daxton was the little Joseph.

  • So you'll see all of us have little cameos in video.

  • But I just wanted to share with you guys,

  • I have lots and lots of Christmas memories,

  • but one that I added to my memory banks

  • this year when we were working on this video

  • was the day that we were filming kind of like the family

  • gathering scene and the kids were

  • all in their nativity clothes and ready to go

  • and they were adjusting the cameras,

  • so it was taking a few minutes and the kids

  • were getting restless, so randomly, somebody

  • suggested singing some carols.

  • Do you remember what we sang, Kamri?

  • -"Silent Night."

  • -Yes.

  • And we were with Alex Boye and David Archuleta

  • and the Shaytard family and--

  • -Peter Hollens.

  • - --The Piano Guys and Peter Hollens.

  • And there were all of these amazing musically oriented

  • people.

  • And it busts out in this "Silent Night" rendition, basically

  • in what, like, six part harmony.

  • I mean it was amazing.

  • And as I sat there, it was just one

  • of those moments, those really touching moments where

  • all of our kids were in front of us

  • and they were dressed up in this little nativity

  • and it was like the kids calmed down

  • and the room just-- the feeling in the room

  • was truly the spirit of Christmas

  • as we all sat and really spent a few moments just pondering

  • the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ

  • and the reason that we actually celebrate Christmas.

  • It's not about presents and it's not about that kind of thing,

  • about the shopping.

  • It's really about the birth of our Savior,

  • and for me, that's definitely one

  • I'm going to put into my memory banks

  • for one of my favorite Christmas memories for our family.

  • So I hope that you guys have a wonderful Christmas holiday.

  • If you love the video, please share it with others

  • because it's really a fantastic video

  • and we had so much fun filming it.

  • And we will see you guys next Sunday.

  • Bye, you guys.

  • -Bye.

-Hey, guys.
