  • -Hey, everyone.

  • I'm Mindy from Cute Girl Hairstyles

  • and today I'm here with Miss Kamri.

  • -Hi, guys.

  • -And we are going to show you how

  • to do a braid we're calling the twist braid.

  • So it's very cool, and yes, before all of you

  • guys ask me a million times in the comments,

  • Kamri is wearing mascara today.

  • She has entered the land of mascara and she turned 12.

  • So yes, you can see her lashes from a mile away today.

  • So let's get going on the braid, Kam.

  • OK, now I started this braid by just parting her hair slightly

  • off center.

  • But if you prefer and you don't want a distinguishable part,

  • you can just stick a brush in and comb it all going back.

  • We're going to flip her around, and in the very back,

  • right by the crown of her head, I'm

  • going to pick up a section of hair.

  • And this is what is going to be our two-piece twist

  • down the center of the entire braid.

  • We're going to take this and divide it into two pieces.

  • We're going to cross the right strand over the left just once

  • and then hold it.

  • Now we're going to go to the left side of her head

  • and I'm going to pick up a little section of hair

  • and I'm going to put it over that last section

  • so it falls right through the middle.

  • You can see I just dropped it right

  • through the middle right there.

  • And then I'm going to take these two strands, the original two

  • we had, and just give them one more twist.

  • And just know that when you're twisting,

  • the right piece is always going to be twisting over the left,

  • all the way down.

  • So we're going to go back to this right side

  • now and pick up a section of hair.

  • And comb any little bumps out of it

  • so it lays nice and clean and flat.

  • And I'm going to, again, cross it

  • over that right twist piece and right through the middle.

  • And then I'm going to take my pieces.

  • So you can see that this is that middle piece.

  • I'm going to end up letting it drop,

  • but I don't want to let it drop right now

  • or it will loosen the braid up a little.

  • So these are my twist pieces.

  • I'm going to take that right strand again

  • and cross it over the left and then drop the piece so that I

  • still maintain the tightness of the braid right there.

  • I don't want it too, too tight, but I

  • do want it to not be loose.

  • OK.

  • So I'm picking up some more hair from the left side

  • and we're just going to repeat these same steps over and over

  • and over.

  • So again, I'm putting it over my left twist piece

  • and letting it drop through the middle.

  • You can see it's right there, it's going to drop.

  • I'm taking my two twist pieces and I'm

  • crossing the right one over the left.

  • And them I'm going to hang onto them.

  • I'm going to go back to this side and pick up more hair.

  • I'm going to just continue on just the same exact way.

  • When you get down here to the bottom,

  • you can kind of feel those sections

  • that you've already used before-- they're

  • a little bit separated off.

  • So now I'm just grabbing each of those sections from around back

  • and bring them back over the twist again as we go down

  • and still continuing just the same technique of laying it

  • in the middle and then twisting those two pieces over the top.

  • So you can see this is a similar effect to a waterfall

  • twist, where you're just putting a twist in front

  • and in back of each section of the braid.

  • You can see this piece is coming around.

  • I'm just taking that twist piece over the top

  • and crossing it again and then dropping it.

  • And I'm just going to keep going as far

  • down as I can before I run out of hair.

  • Now when I ran out of hair, I just gather all of the pieces

  • up together and secure the whole thing

  • with an elastic down at the bottom.

  • And then I go back and if there's

  • anything I want to loosen up to make it softer,

  • make both sides look even, then you can just

  • go back and tweak it a little bit like this.

  • And voila, you have this really fun--

  • it's almost like a cross between a waterfall braid

  • and a mermaid braid because it has

  • the fall of a mermaid braid, but then you

  • can see all the way down.

  • You have this really cool stranding this twist that

  • goes all the way down the length of the braid.

  • OK, let's do the final spin.

  • So pretty.

  • What do you think?

  • -I like

  • -And you can see I left a couple of pieces

  • by her ears to just add a little softness but you can do more

  • or less, depending on your preference.

  • -Next week.

  • -Next Sunday.

  • Bye, guys.

  • -Bye.

  • -And again, pull that hair through and give it a twist.

  • Now don't worry if you're getting big loops like this,

  • because you can come back later.

  • Hi, Kammers.

  • Show me your teethers.

  • Can you show me your teethers?

  • Hi.

  • -Hi!

  • -Whoa.

  • Back up.

  • I can't see you when you're that close.

  • What are you doing?

  • -Uh, playing hide and seek from Kamri.

-Hey, everyone.
