Welcome to the speaking section of the IELTS exam.

I will be your examiner for this part of the test.

We are conducting this in Ankara, Turkey.

Here is my passport that I had used for registration.

For part one, I will ask you a couple of questions to get to know you better and some questions on a general topic.

I live in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey.

In a one bedroom condo close to the heart of the city.

I am currently a university student studying architecture at Middle East Technical University.

Also I am learning English so I can bring my architectural designs to the international community.

What sports are most popular in your country?

In Turkey, football is definitely the most popular sport for followed by basketball and volleyball.

These sports have large fan bases and are widely played across the country.

Yes, I really enjoy watching sports, especially volleyball and basketball.

I find the games exciting and love the energy of the crowds the during the matches.

I watched a great match on television yesterday.

Have you ever participated in any sports?

Yes, I used to play volleyball in high school.

That taught me a lot about teamwork and discipline.

What are the benefits of playing a sport?

It improves physical health, builds teamwork skills, enhances discipline and can also relieve stress.

For me, it was a great way to stay active and make new friends.

Is there a sport you would like to try in the future and if yes, why?

I would love to try scuba diving because I am fascinated by the underwater world.

It seems like a unique way to explore nature and experience a completely different environment.

Were you involved in any sports as a child?

I tried different sports like swimming and tennis.

But I stuck with volleyball because I enjoyed the team aspect the most.

How do you think sports bring people together?

Sports have a wonderful way of creating camaraderie regardless of background through shared passions and experiences.

They foster community spirits and can even unite the country during international competitions.

People in Turkey really band together during FIFA and Olympics.

Do schools in your country encourage students to participate in sports?

Yes, Schools in Turkey generally encourage sports participation.

There are often various sports clubs and activities in schools, and physical education is a compulsory subject.

This helps students develop a habit of staying active from a young age.

One of the most breathtaking landscapes I have ever visited is Cappadocia.

This region is renowned for its unique geological, cultural and historical features.

It's known for its favorite chimneys, which are tall cone shaped rock formations called clustered in Monk's Valley, Goreme and elsewhere throughout the region.

The landscape looks almost otherworldly with these formations alongside ancient cave dwellings that were carved into the rocks by humans thousands of years ago.

The beauty of the place is not just in its strange rock formations, but

also in the way the light plays on them at sunrise and sunset, creating stunning hues that change from vibrant oranges to soft pinks.

Visitors to Cappadocia can do a variety of activities.

The most famous is probably hot air ballooning, which offers a magnificent aerial view of the landscape at dawn.

Besides that, visitors can explore ancient underground cities, hike in the valleys, or visit historic churches that were carved into the rocks with beautiful frescoes inside.

Protecting this landscape for future generations is crucial.

Steps that can be taken includes regulating tourism to prevent overcrowding, enforcing strict rules against littering and vandalism, and

Local authorities could also work on educating visitors about the cultural and historical significance of the sites to foster a deeper appreciation and care for the preservation overall.

Cappadocia is not just a testament to nature's artistry, but also human history.

And it's a place that really deserves our respect and protection.

I went there a year ago with one of my really good friends and it was a memorable experience.

Probably I will go back there to visit again.

And we will now continue with part three for this part, I will ask you questions related to the topic of Part two.

Landscapes like Cappadocia are crucial for a country because they are part of our natural heritage and cultural identity.

Such places attract tourists, which helps boost the economy.
