It's strategic and intentional, aimed at a specific goal or person.

The word targeted means aimed at something specific, like an arrow hitting a target.

And deception means making someone believe something that isn't true.

The verb that deception comes from is deceive.

For example, you feel deceived when you find out you paid more for something than you should have.

Atlas is arguing that all magic is just targeted deception.

Carefully planned tricks designed to fool the audience in specific ways.

An illusion in magic is something that appears to be real but isn't.

While a trick often refers to a single magical effect, an illusion can be something grander, a complete deceptive experience.

The phrase one giant illusion suggests that everything you're watching isn't separate tricks, but

rather one massive interconnected deception where all the pieces work together towards a single goal.

Throughout the film, you think you're watching one story, but

the ending reveals it was all one giant illusion.

Everything you saw meant something completely different than you thought.

Now that we understand the Four Horsemen's philosophy, let's watch them put it into action.
