Some analysts including retired US Navy submarine officer Thomas Shugart caution these barges may be too vulnerable to spearhead an amphibious invasion.

They're likely to be used once initial beachheads are secured rather than leading the first wave of attacks.

Recent geopolitical tensions have further complicated the situation, strained relations between key US allies could potentially weaken coalition defense of Taiwan and embolden Chinese military planners.

Wenti Sung from the Atlantic Council states bluntly, these barges are clearly meant to facilitate amphibious invasion against Taiwan.

Xi Jinping stated in a recent message, reunification with Taiwan is inevitable, no one can stop the historical trend of national reunification.
