  • Good morning and welcome to a very snowy Iwate Prefecture.

  • I'm joined by my friend norm today because norm wanted to come out here to the middle of nowhere in the countryside to experience some snow because it's pretty rare down in Southern Japan, you don't see snow very much in Tokyo.

  • But up here in the north we get it every day for months in the winter.

  • We're going to go on a little snowy adventure today.

  • I've brought us out to hit me which is a very historically important area of, there was lots of power here.

  • So because the city is so important, it's been really well preserved and it's just beautiful.

  • It's quite a small area, but it's gorgeous.

  • So I hope you guys enjoy the video.

  • Today's snowy Adventure is very nicely sponsored by glasses usa dot com.

  • If you guys are in the market for a new pair of frames, you know, I love them and I highly recommend them.

  • They have so, so many different styles of glasses.

  • They also have a full money back guarantee on all the frames.

  • So if for some reason you're not happy with the frames you chose, you can get your money back.

  • I'll have the links down below.

  • So do check those out but onto the exciting temple, which we have figured out it's a temple.

  • It's not a shrine flashback right now we're looking up, this is a buddhist temple, but there's a shrine gate, right there, a torii gate and we're trying to figure out why That is really cool.

  • I had no idea, just learned something new.

  • A flashback.

  • You're here, what do you think?

  • I was trying to catch snowflakes norms way too excited, we get snow maybe once a year in Tokyo and this year we kind of didn't stated and at night and this is beautiful, it is very nice, I have to say it has been snowing nonstop for months up here in but this is really beautiful, like the temples look extra pretty in the snow.

  • I'm not gonna lie so I'm happy I could bring you guys out here and show it to you but this is to cocoa note it's a very cool buddhist temple that's built into the side of a cliff, how awesome is that?

  • There's a really nice lake here.

  • I was last year in the summer pond, small lake usually fishing here.

  • I hope they're not in here anymore.

  • That would be very sad.

  • Do they hibernate under the water?

  • I have always wondered what happens to all the koi that are out in these ponds in the winter.

  • I really hope so.

  • Are they just frozen in time until it melts maybe on the way out.

  • I can ask the guy that too, that's a good idea.

  • The guy was really nice.

  • This is so cool and nobody else is here.

  • We've got it all to ourselves.

  • Probably one of my favorite things about coming up to Northern Japan is that you can come out to places like this is almost always no one.

  • It's so true.

  • Even in the summer when it was like really nice weather, there was nobody here.

  • Do you want to go inside?

  • Very, very steep.

  • Be happy.

  • There's no hornets when I came here in this summer.

  • This is where they attacked me.

  • I'm just excited about the snow more than.

  • It's actually a really nice contrast of you've got the open field, got the houses here, the forest, the mountain.

  • This probably changes a lot season by season.

  • It does, it's so pretty in the fall with the golden rice fields that looks like it's probably a Sakura tree definitely is.

  • We should come back in the spring.

  • Pretty cool.

  • It is.

  • Where do you want to go next?

  • Are you hungry?

  • This town is actually famous for mochi, mochi is fantastic and they have this style of serving it that I've never seen anywhere else in Japan.

  • But yeah, I'll just say that, leave it as a surprise, but I hope you like it.

  • Okay, that's pretty cool.

  • Alive.

  • They're alive and they dig their way into the dirt.

  • They're just waiting there learning new things every day.

  • This is my lucky day, I think is the name of it.

  • It's just a little roadside station, but they do serve the special.

  • Hopefully norm likes it.

  • It'll be an experience.

  • Great.

  • Either way, I got this.

  • Great, it'll be an experience.

  • I didn't say great.

  • Don't put words in my mouth.

  • So you order from this machine here.

  • This is what you want.

  • I think I can't read the kanji, but I'm pretty sure this is it.

  • $10 You can spit it out on us, then you take your ticket and you give it to them at the counter here.

  • They like me.

  • I don't know.

  • I'm starting to wonder if there are actually wasps.

  • You're just imagining these non existent wasps, wow, it's different flavors than last time.

  • Actually looks really good.

  • Honestly.

  • Okay, so last time I got it there was a NATO one.

  • I was like, are you kidding me?

  • Really?

  • But this time I don't see, I think charlotte has this like really malicious plan that she was gonna have me eat like natto mochi and like that wasn't the only bad one though.

  • There were more.

  • The last time I gave there was a NATO one, there was a shrimp one, it was all over the place, but this time it actually looks really good.

  • So I think you might like it, which is good.

  • Most of them look very sweet.

  • This is Zenda which is soybean but it's usually sweet, this is red bean paste, also sweet, black sesame, which should be delicious.

  • Daikon.

  • We've got she packet, deep fried tofu pocket.

  • This one looks like some kind of citrusy peanut and this one might be chicken.

  • I don't know but let's dig in, enjoy coming in here.

  • There was this atmosphere of like, I'm gonna get you with Smokey, I'm gonna get you and I feel like we ended up with really good Maki and charlotte's plan has backfired.

  • No, I'm very happy that it's good flavors.

  • I recommend starting with the savory ones and working your way to the sweet ones.

  • Whole plan.

  • This is what it's just confusion.

  • Did they?

  • The fun.

  • I thought they forgot to put the mochi in mind because last time it was like three mochi on each road.

  • This one's my favorite.

  • So it's an energy tofu pocket with mochi inside.

  • It's delicious, man, where should I start?

  • Mm It's nice.

  • Right?

  • It's all really good.

  • Try this one.

  • I really liked that one last time I thought it was kind of unique but I thought it was really good tang to It does it it's almost like a she's so kind of does it?

  • Yeah, I swear they just change up the flavors like daily whatever they feel like they're like she's so in here today.

  • It's fun though.

  • You don't know what to expect.

  • Really good.

  • I'm really intrigued by this orange one.

  • I'm not a fan of yuzu.

  • I really hope it's not used to.

  • It kind of looks like marmalade though.

  • It's very orange.

  • Wait, why does it smell like pumpkin?

  • Is it pumpkin?

  • What I was expecting?

  • A really strong orange smell like he wants.

  • It's very sweet.

  • Mm It was a very subtle sweet flavor.

  • You know what I said, peanut for this one, but I think it might be chestnut.

  • It's almond.

  • Oh my God, that is delicious.

  • Did you like the Almond 1?

  • Holy Crap, That is so good.

  • I'm so happy that there's so many different flavors that I didn't try last time, thoughts on the positive didn't expect experience.

  • It's very filling because they give you like nine different eight.

  • They kind of skipped out this time with that little patch of daikon.

  • That was weird.

  • But eight mochi you got really fall off of them.

  • It's really snowing.

  • Do you understand my pain every day.

  • This is what I deal with every day.

  • It is really pretty though.

  • I think we need like a slow motion norman join me.

  • Snow See, okay, so what are your thoughts on north Japan, did you have a nice trip?

  • Had an amazing trip.

  • Would you recommend that people come up here in the winter?

  • Absolutely.

  • I would look at this, It is nice.

  • The snow is very powdery.

  • I've noticed.

  • Like I said, we've had three straight months of it and it's been really nice snow the whole time.

  • Like it hasn't been, she has been these really soft flakes that are really nice to walk on once it piles up.

  • So also the roads are clear.

  • They don't salt the roads here, but they do a really nice job of clearing them off.

  • They're used to it.

  • It's no so much up here that they're prepared for it.

  • So it's not too bad to drive in the winter for the most part have heated sidewalks.

  • Yeah, they do the hot water running under the road I guess and it melts all the snow.

  • It's quite impressive.

  • But I hope you guys enjoyed our little snowy adventure again, check out the links in the description box if you would like to get yourself some glasses and glasses.
