  • Hey guys, welcome back to my channel.

  • We are in Kyoto again today and I'm standing out front of a burger king.

  • Got a couple of friends joining me and we're gonna be trying out some new menu items.

  • Alright, so helping us out with the burger tasting today are chad, my friend from university who haven't seen in years.

  • So I'm super excited to catch up.

  • Thanks for joining us.

  • And we got Dave in Japan.

  • I'm a guy who makes videos on Youtube.

  • Why are you always here for my food videos?

  • It is rather coincidental, isn't it?

  • I can't say I'm overly excited about this because I, you know, I thought burger king bacon double cheeseburger, Let's do it.

  • But then you said plant based on my excitement.

  • So I went down if I'd known that, I don't think I would have come all the way to Kyoto for this.

  • You want cheese chili Or the Chicken 1?

  • I'm pretty excited.

  • This is the first time that like an actual burger chain has had a plant based burger in Japan.

  • They have one at moss burger.

  • It's not very good.

  • But you know, like a well known burger chain, they're finally doing a plant based burger.

  • I've got high hopes, fingers crossed.

  • Would you really carry the, I'm the cameraman, I don't have to carry anything in Japan.

  • Now, Japan in burger King as you'd expect.

  • Looks really good.

  • So chad, got the ugly burger?

  • I think this is a Japan only menu item.

  • It is ugly.

  • Is that a cheese, but I think it is what makes it the ugly burger.

  • I think it is and it's got beef cheese, tomato onion, It's kind of a whopper pretty much, but like, I think it's like the whole cheese bun thing going looks pretty good.

  • Honestly, you want a burger to be ugly.

  • It's pretty, it's probably not gonna taste good.

  • So yes, it's like a party in my mouth flavors complement each other rather splendidly.

  • If I do say so myself, this is, this is good.

  • I rather like it.

  • What are you doing?

  • Looks like Mcdonald's chicken nugget, but it's not, apparently it's got cheese in it.

  • So it must be good.

  • Can I swear it tastes like ship so hard I could kill someone with this.

  • Look at it.

  • I can't crush it between my fingers.

  • It's so hard on obtaining um, No one out of 10.

  • You know how the pigeon whisperer scared he's gonna fight me.

  • All the birds have come for the delicious taste of burger king.

  • More.

  • Oh God, we've come outside because of the inevitable copyright claims from the music in the restaurant.

  • So this is the burger king flame grilled Plant based Whopper.

  • I've heard that this thing is pretty good.

  • So we're gonna test it out today.

  • Not being a fan of meat myself.

  • I'm assuming I'm probably gonna like this, but chris who eats a lot of meat and probably doesn't like plant based food very much we're going to get his opinion as well.

  • So it'll be balanced balanced review.

  • He's gonna get it first.

  • You're in charge of pigeon disposal.

  • So quite a big fan of burger king when I was a student at school, I used to go like every week to get the bacon double cheeseburger.

  • It was glorious.

  • But in Japan burger king is quite rare and I don't know why, but I'm not that bothered.

  • But what I've noticed while we were going outside a minute while charlotte was ordering, there were quite a few people taking photos of the plant based whopper poster.

  • So they're quite excited and I saw like two Yakuza style guys chomping into one.

  • So yeah, keys are like, it must be good.

  • I mean, they're probably just normal Japanese guys.

  • They just seem to be accusing because they looked like they had short hair and right, here we go.

  • First impressions fuck off pigeon pigeon pigeon, a chicken nugget and now he won't go away.

  • Wait, we're making an important video charlotte in japan.

  • It's not charlotte, japan, it's shar shar million char mander.

  • Alright, first impressions, it's got that kind of light brown color that doesn't look like a burger.

  • It's a bit too light.

  • I've had a beyond burger and it was all right, but you can always tell that it's not beef.

  • Right, my wife.

  • It's not bad.

  • I can tell it's not beef if you gave this to me without telling me it was a palm based burger.

  • I would still think I'd be able to work it out.

  • But that's not an issue because Still quite got the juiciness of the good burger drenched in mayonnaise, onions, tomatoes to just help disguise it as well.

  • But the test is pretty good.

  • I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but I'm going to give it an eight out of 10.

  • You don't have to point a gun at my head to get me to eat this plant based burger and actually enjoy it willingly.

  • But where's my sponsorship money from Burger King.

  • This is a tasty burger.

  • So the last time I had a plant based burger was the moss burger.

  • It wasn't very good.

  • It was, it was very healthy tasting.

  • I want to say.

  • Oftentimes when you get plant based options for things, they think that you want something that's extra healthy and organic and not junk food, but I really like it when fast food companies realize that you want it to taste like a junkie burger, you don't want to be healthy, you just don't want it to have meat in it.

  • So I think they've done a good job here.

  • There's tons of mayonnaise ketchup, onions, all the dressings on it.

  • Unlike the moss burger initial thoughts, it does have a slight like tofu dog taste.

  • I grew up on veggie dogs because my family is vegetarian, it does remind me of that veggie dog flavor, but like chris said they drenched it in mayo and ketchup and pickles and onions.

  • It tastes really good.

  • This is close to a 10 out of 10 for me.

  • The only thing is I guess if they could get rid of that veggie dog flavor somehow it would be perfect.

  • But it's juicy, it's covered in sauce.

  • It tastes like a regular junk food burger, which is what I wanted.

  • So thumbs up to burger king for coming out with this.

  • I hope it sticks around.

  • Apparently it's a limited time menu.

  • So with the olympics, hopefully coming up in the future restaurants around Japan have been releasing plant based options for the inevitable tourists with different dietary restrictions.

  • That will be coming to Japan.

  • I don't know.

  • We'll see.

  • But hopefully they keep it because this is freaking delicious.

  • I know they have this in a few other countries.

  • It might only be Asia at the moment, but if you're in a country that has the plant based burger king burger, try it.

  • It's amazing.

  • Where's the pigeon go?

  • It's gone.

  • He didn't get the burger.

  • He took matters into his own hands.

  • He's out there somewhere.

  • Probably at that burger.
