  • Hello everybody welcome back to Tokyo to play.

  • I'm your host Emma and today I'm here with sarah and it's christmas christmas everybody, I love christmas so much and like living abroad, you know you kind of miss the christmas we have back home so that's why we're here and Japanese christmas is interesting.

  • You know, we got the short cake, we got the KFC, but also now we have christmas markets and we've come to one today we've come to Yokohama christmas market and we're going to see what the food and the things they're selling are like, are they Germans, are they japanese?

  • What's it gonna be?

  • I don't know, but I kind of want to eat something and I'm half german for those that know, So I'm gonna kind of see what my experiences like versus Germany japan.

  • So yeah, I really want to try some glue vine.

  • I wanna drink, I wanna drink to get one of those cups.

  • But yeah, let's go all right, let's go drink christmas christmas, we got our glue vine so cheers everybody remember that.

  • Yeah, I do remember is it really hot in my guinea pig?

  • No, it's great.

  • I can taste all those like flavors of like orange and cinnamon.

  • That's really good.

  • We also got some, how do you set curry curry curry, which is a I believe it's like ketchup mixed with curry powder on sausage and fries.

  • I had it when I was in Germany Germany once and I ate this like every day.

  • Yeah and they put some mustard and sauerkraut on the side.

  • Oh yeah, go for it and I can see you start with the fryer, thank you curry sauce like Yes it is.

  • They've got some curry in the ketchup.

  • It's actually really easy to make at home.

  • We're going to do is add your ketchup and curry powder and you actually do that at home.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah Mm reminds me of Germany, I don't eat this kind of sausage very often.

  • This is actually the 13th year they've held this Yokohama Christmas market and there's heaps of other markets around Tokyo as well.

  • There's like sky tree.

  • Yeah and there's also something like I've been to, the other one is really nice and stuff.

  • It all into that one to check them all out.

  • If you ever in Japan in december.

  • We want, I grew up in Australia seeing movies in like a cold christmas.

  • I always dreamt about it and now I get to experience it kind of, I want a white christmas.

  • That's the dream.

  • The dream Yeah.

  • Anyway, we got a Pretzel, let's dig it.

  • That was a nice crunch.

  • It's good.

  • It's like a little dry, maybe I got a microwave but make that law awesome.

  • Pretzel microwave were bigger but it's a little dry for me.

  • Yeah.

  • Did they serve it hot?

  • Did it just get cold.

  • It wasn't always, I think it was a little warm when we got it.

  • But we took some photos of it because it's a pretzel, although I don't think I've ever eaten a pretzel on the german market before and I feel like, oh yeah, I want to have some mushrooms.

  • You get mushrooms.

  • I want my uncle, we finished our, I want that adult hot chocolate because you know what?

  • I'm an adult, I've earned that title.

  • I went through chef, I'm 27 to deserve an adult chocolate.

  • Let's get it.

  • Okay.

  • I found something that looks a bit more japanese than everything else.

  • They have like Frankfurt, like a sausage but with mochi wrapped around it and deep fried.

  • So that doesn't sound very german to me.

  • But yeah, I'm getting an adult.

  • It smells so good here.

  • I don't know what that smell is.

  • There's a lot going on.

  • Hey there, I'm gonna wait for sarah before I try it.

  • I don't want to, I don't want to leave her out of this.

  • There's alcohol in it.

  • So I got a regular hot chocolate that's not so regular because we have some cute reindeer marshmallows with like some, I don't know the marble balls that you can eat.

  • Yeah, this is very japanese.

  • I feel like at a german christmas market I have never seen such a cute color eating.

  • So I'm liking it.

  • Yeah.

  • Got my hot chocolate with Yeah, yeah.

  • Oh yeah, I taste that.

  • What is it?

  • I don't know, it's like, I think it's really good.

  • I think it's like subtle, but it's still there.

  • I'm going to eat one of my marshmallows by reindeer man.

  • I could have, Okay, no, that's my wife, please.

  • You made this story out of nowhere man when you come to a christmas market getting a drink and walking around is the best way to enjoy the atmosphere and the ambiance and in my case getting even a little bit more.

  • Yeah, I got you.

  • I kind of want to look around at some of the stores and see the traditional things are selling.

  • Yeah, down can we go for a little walk?

  • So Emma and I were chatting about how naked and sad the tree behind us.

  • I don't know what you're going to say.

  • I was like, oh yeah, there's not much going on, it's a few bobbles and stuff but I don't know believes where are the stems, it's just a bit of a sad tree.

  • I think when you're living in japan, like christmas is not like, you know the same quality of trees and decorations that you get back home, especially if you're from europe or like, I feel like the U.

  • S.

  • Probably does christmas really well to Australia.

  • Yeah, it's not bad.

  • Like I don't know there's some places that do it really well, I don't know closer into Tokyo, I've seen some good trees, but this one in particular is a little, apparently I read it was 10 m tall Yeah, great.

  • The tree, let's go.

  • 1 to 10.

  • One of my favorite things and also one of the saddest things about the market.

  • So is how short they are.

  • It's only for a month from 25 November, 25 December, right?

  • And it's like there's so many things here that you can't access during the rest of the year very easily like the German food, all these products and stuff.

  • It's very limited, but it makes it feel more special.

  • Do you have any plans to go to the other markets?

  • I've actually been invited to another one tonight.

  • Oh really?

  • Yeah, but I haven't said yes.

  • Nice.

  • And one other thing I like about the Yokohama one is you've got the red brick, this is really famous in the area.

  • The Kalinga is what it's called.

  • The red brick warehouses on both sides.

  • So you've got that kind of western architecture.

  • It feels like we've been transported.

  • Exactly.

  • I'd love to see this place at night time.

  • I know it's so nice at night.

  • But another time.

  • At least we're, we're getting potato pancake.

  • I think there's more people now and we're starting to get a little, oh it's already done pancake with cream cheese.

  • I used to make this all the time.

  • I used to make this all the time, it's breakfast, it's a rusty, we need more alcohol, we're sitting down, it's nice.

  • I like it and we're going to have a potato pancake with some sour cream and they had white, white, blue, white blue vine.

  • Really?

  • It tastes like straight up alcohol.

  • I'm excited.

  • Don't say that.

  • I haven't been to yet.

  • It's amazing.

  • You're gonna love it way.

  • That's alcohol.

  • God actually like it, it's pretty good.

  • But yeah, yeah.

  • This taste like there's not just potato in it.

  • Yeah, they add like flowers sometimes.

  • This one they've added a lot of flour.

  • I also was just about to eat with, which is me, the amount of the amount of screaming babies and dogs, there's so much going on here and this potato is, but now we can fully enjoy our christmas market experience with the holocaust and I have a fact to tell you, it's not really a fact that some german, oh, you're ready to learn what you're going to tell me before.

  • Okay, it's a german, so I'm ready.

  • Merry christmas in german is enough.

  • Do it again by nothing.

  • So fine and it's written inside.

  • Sounds good.

  • We got our final things.

  • So we're gonna have, we have some more of the blue one.

  • It's the same one that we got the first time in our Yeah, the first blue vine was definitely the best, The second one just tasted like straight liquor and it's from this place called, which means I'm pretty sure Big kiss and Germans, I like that.

  • I also got this giant.

  • Sure.

  • Well that, that sugar just melted and it's cinnamon, right?

  • It's really good.

  • And we've also got some nonalcoholic blue vine shot behind the camera.

  • So if you are not wanting to have alcohol you can still have the same goodness.

  • There's a lot of non alcoholic options so you can still get lady without the alcohol.

  • But yeah, this is us finishing up our time in the market.

  • It's been fun.

  • Everything's pretty expensive.

  • Some of the food has been a bit, you know?

  • Yeah, I'm totally down for it.

  • Just the christmas cheer.

  • I think it's just having the fun at the market getting in the spirit.

  • I do feel like in terms of authenticity it's not quite there but I'm appreciate, I'd be happier that it's here that it's not so thank you Yokohama christmas market for existing.

  • Thank you.

  • But I do feel like checking out the Tokyo markets maybe more work because you got to pay all the way to get way back.

  • Yeah, they may be smaller but I don't know maybe we'll have to do a review every single Christmas market, let us know if you want to do that.

  • Yeah, we've had a lot of fun.

  • We also spent at least $100.

  • We'll show the total value and we didn't even get that much really But also this is the end of the year.

  • So thank you so much for all the support this year, watching our videos being so lovely to us and we will see you next year.

  • So enjoy your holidays whether you celebrate christmas or not and we'll see you after the New Year.

  • Thank you so much for watching guys and we'll see you again soon.

  • Bye.

  • Happy New Year.

  • Love you guys have a song to end it all.

  • Yeah, we just gonna drink until we stop.

  • I think I think that's how it usually works anyway.
