  • Hi, I'm jenny Kane, founder of Jenni Kayne home And jenni Kayne welcome to my ranch.

  • This is my favorite room in the house.

  • It's the living room.

  • When we first bought the house.

  • You could see the bones were incredible.

  • Like beautiful high ceilings.

  • The potential to see this view of the entire valley And it just needed a little love.

  • So we bought the house in February 2020 and we finished in the spring of 2022.

  • All the walls are Portola Plaster.

  • We painted all of the ceilings, opened up the windows and doors as much as possible to really always be looking out to nature, which is what feels so special up here.

  • And this is such a long, beautiful room that in order to like you realize all of the space, I grounded it with this beautiful armadillo rug and created two separate seating areas.

  • This is actually my favorite part.

  • I love sitting here and having a cocktail and playing games with my kids or just having my morning coffee and meditating.

  • These are Brentwood clay chairs around our beautiful coffee table and I just think it's a really nice conversational area and then just throughout the room, kind of always looking out to the view, mixing in jenny Kane with vintage pieces.

  • So it really feels lived in.

  • This is our harbor sofa, which is an incredible sofa and um, just kind of layering and keeping it soft and neutral.

  • One of the most exciting parts about renovating the house was seeing the kitchen come to life.

  • So I really wanted the kitchen to kind of flow and open up from the living room and into the family room when we first bought it, it was this tiny drop ceiling dark for Michael countertops, little hole that you really didn't realize the potential, but you could see that if you opened up the ceiling and looked out to the view that it was just going to be this magical room.

  • And as always views Portola paints, which I love so much.

  • This is a lake or new stove, which I always say is like the jewelry of the house and I love the Moroccan tiles.

  • It just feels super quiet and and clean and serene and a place where I love cooking and being with my family whenever possible.

  • I love to have a large island because I feel like it's so practical but also nice to sit and um, you know, have people watching while you're cooking and, and sit with your family.

  • This all opens up so everything opens up to the view, which I think is what's so magical about this property.

  • But I love opening this up and like serving dinner to my kids or while I'm cooking, they can sit here and have breakfast.

  • Um, it just feels like a really great flow.

  • That's what santa Ynez is all about is kind of looking out to nature and um, enjoying, you know, the beauty that's right outside your window and then wherever possible.

  • I love to have a banquette.

  • I think it's such a great way to come together to share meals and to get cozy even just to sit here and do a little bit of work and I felt like this was like the perfect place um, you know, to put it, this is the family room which is all open to the kitchen and I just love the way that it turned out.

  • These are new aspen chairs which are super cozy and comfortable Arbet coffee table, which as you can tell is a favorite because I have one in almost every room and then our Miramar sofa mixed with a vintage lamp.

  • But I just love hanging in here.

  • My kids hanging here while I'm cooking.

  • Um, it has a fireplace wood burning, that's all plaster with Portola plaster, which is so beautiful.

  • And then it opens up to the dining room so everything like really flows and feels very California.

  • So the dining table is rose you Niac, which is one of my favorite designers in London and these are new jenny cane chairs.

  • All of the objects throughout the house are a mixture of different ceramicist and vintage pieces from gallery provenance, which is one of my favorite sources and looking out to this really cute little garden, you can see the butterflies and bees and there's a cute little fountain and oak trees.

  • This is one of my favorite guest rooms.

  • We did this kind of oh cree parachute bedding, which I love with our basket weave throw and jenni Kayne bed and side tables and mixed in a vintage chair and parchment dresser and the bathroom.

  • It is really cute.

  • This is one of my favorite bathrooms in the house in the guest room and we have all our essentials for friends and family to come use.

  • And then we also have some lavender, which is the local lavender farm.

  • Makes beautiful lavender products for soap and bath salts and stuff like that.

  • And I love the clay tile that we used and bola faucets throughout the whole house.

  • Um it just feels really bright and fun in here.

  • This is the primary bedroom which is one of the most magical rooms in the house.

  • It all looks out to the same view.

  • And this is our pacific bed with luna pillow and basket weave throw.

  • I love putting a bench at the end of beds and um just keeping it like really, really soft and quiet.

  • I think it's all about the view outside and um and having a moment to just like decompress and take a break and then mixing in some rose you niac sconces.

  • This beautiful vintage table that I've had forever.

  • I brought with me.

  • Um We also have our santa ynez candle which was inspired by the property smells incredible.

  • Um Throughout the house we use tapping art just to keep it simple and um, interesting at the same time.

  • And then again a Bruno Matheson vintage lounge chair, which is so comfortable and I just always love everything he does.

  • And then this is the primary bathroom.

  • I'm a huge bath person.

  • So I love always finding a place to have a beautiful moment for a tub.

  • So this is looking up to a view, the windows all open and there's a fountain outside and keeping it just really simple and bright.

  • So this deck was here but it was really small and rotting and needed a little love.

  • But you could see the potential for creating this kind of outdoor living space that flows from the living room and the bedroom out all looking to the view.

  • So we extended it planted beautiful um lavender and sage and rosemary and grasses and little Ollie's and a little bit of grass but really just embracing um you know the native plants and the natural landscape.

  • That is this area of santa Ynez so it's all about um you know the rolling hills that are right now dry and um and then in the winter and spring turn into this beautiful green.

  • Um So it's really nice, you really feel the seasons when you're living out here.

  • And then of course, oak trees which are magical.

  • Um and really remind me of Santana's.

  • I grew up spending a lot of time at my Godmother's ranch around the corner and I fell in love with oak trees and specifically like, you know California oaks which are all protected and that's definitely what inspired okay essentials are skincare brand.

  • Um, and the name, and it's also my youngest child's middle name.

  • So when we found the property, there was nothing here.

  • This was just all kind of part of the natural landscape.

  • So figuring out where and how to get the pool in was kind of the largest challenge for me.

  • I wanted to maintain the integrity of the landscape and not kind of mess with it too much.

  • So I think we found the perfect balance of, you know, just right off of the deck, beautiful view looking out, but not disrupting the hillside too much and the pool is pretty incredible.

  • It's obviously great size, but it also has these great baja shelves in the jacuzzi in the middle.

  • It's a really fun pool to swim in.

  • This is one of my favorite moments.

  • We put this great table out here for dinners or lunches and it's just a beautiful place to take in the landscape and the oak trees with the moss hanging.
