Hey guys, good morning and welcome to... I don't know where we are, Kawasaki..
Is this city? CHRIS: Uh.. yes. SHARLA: Town? I think it's Kawasaki-machi. CHRIS: Kawasaki.
We are on another Poke-lid hunt today.
I've got my friends Chris and Victor helping me out and we've started here..
..somewhere in the middle of Miyagi prefecture for our first stop and..
..we're gonna see how many we can find today in all of Miyagi prefecture.
We've got like 31 left to go [CHRIS makes noise of disbelief] and I think we might be able to do...
..15 today, if we hurry! So let's go find the first one!
So the map brought us to this...center.
SHARLA: I don't even know what they do here. (CHRIS: What a lovely looking building!) SHARLA: It's some kind of like city center.
I think that's the manhole there. Yeaah! CHRIS: Aah. VICTOR: That is correct.
SHARLA: Lapra's special. CHRIS: Oh, I love Lapras. It's one of the Pokémon I actually know.
SHARLA: Alrights let's get a picture of this and then I'm still collecting the stamps as well.
Oh, it's right here! It's outside.
Victor, you should get a little book and you can collect the stamps.
VICTOR: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely.
SHARLA: So they make a stamp of each of the manholes in Miyagi.
It's so sad because this is going away after a month it feels like such a waste of these cute little stamps.
CRHIS GASPS // SHARLA GIGGLES // CHRIS IN DEEP VOICE: Amazing!
SHARLA: Stop sounding so excited (?)
CHRIS STILL IN DEEP VOICE: Gotta catch 'em all! .. Pokémon!
SHARLA STILL GIGGLING: Go away :p
One stamp down, lot's to go.
Let's go.
VICTOR: Let's go.
SHARLA: So this is our route for today.
We're going to start here in the middle of Miyagi prefecture.
Work our way down to the bottom and end in Matsushima.
Hopefully if we have enough time.
All right, stamp number two has brought us to Zaō which I've been to lot's.
It's so pretty right now with the snow on the mountains aaand...
There's a shrine here but..
But it's so icy and slippery. I don't know if I want to be climbing the mountain to see the shrine.
Kaminoyu. It's a little onsen here.
They have a footbath here but no hot water in it.
VICTOR: The remains of it.
So sad!
These are really nice in the winter. I'm surprised they don't have it going.
Onagyo (?, the name of the place). So this is where... Oh yeah, here's the stamp.
Yaay(!)
Now the hunt for the actual manhole.
It should be around here somewhere.
The GPS pointed to right about here.
Might be buried under snow.
Seems to be a common pattern.
Victor found it! Yay!
VICTOR: Yah!
Good fun.
SHARLA: Woehooew!
Number two of the day. We're making good time.
I'm gonna take a peek at that little shrine that was up here.
The cool thing about this stamp rally is that it takes you to places that you normally wouldn't go.
I'v been to Zao many times but I've never been to this part of the town.
It's nice.
It's too bad the footbath wasn't going.
Yeah, looks like there's a little shrine down there. I'm not going to..
..head all the way in because we have lots of places to vist today.
And a very tight time schedule.
You can see the steam coming up from under the street.
Zao is an onsen town so there's lots of natural hotspring water running underneath us.
CHRIS: Next is very remote. It's a town.. (SHARLA: sixteen) ..that I don't know how to read. What's that?
SHARLA: Chikahara?
CHRIS: Maybe, yeah, yeah, yeah. And it's quite far. (music starts) Let's go.
SHARLA: So this is, um, a Michi no Eki. CHRIS: Is that up there? SHARLA: Yeah, which could be cool.
Yeah I think that's around here.
wait is it open
so deserted
i really hope the manhole is close to
the stamp area because i don't really
want to go exploring this area it's just
lots of snow
and mountains you see it oh yeah yay
victor's good at spotting them
[Music]
so the next manhole hunt has brought us
to a castle
in shiroishi apparently the stamp is
inside a museum which we've yet to
locate we found the castle though looks
really nice in the snow found it and i
also found these stamps for my other
stamp collection
the manhole itself is within the park
somewhere but the park's quite big so i
looked it up on twitter oh that's it
right there
and i found a picture of it right beside
the castle, so I knew it was by the castle
somewhere
this is a cute one
i'd say this has been the coolest
location that it's brought us to
so far discovered a new castle that i
didn't know existed and here's another
manhole
not pokemon related
all right our next stop is at another
michi nowaki so we're on the highway for
the next 20 minutes or so and i think
there's three okay lids in that area so
Poke's lid, is that what it's called?
Yeah, Poke lid. Pokefuta in Japanese.
It sounds better in Japanese
but after that we'll have a seven done
so
i think we're making good time it's
It's currently 1:45 pm. Since some of these stamps are inside of tourist centers and stuff...
.. I have a feeling they're gonna close around five, so...
..hopefully we can get a few more after that.
CHRIS: What'd you find? SHARLA: Just the regular michiyoaki(?) stuff.
SHARLA: Nice. CHRIS: Such force!
CHRIS: Meanwhile, Victor has found it. VICTOR: Too slow, too slow :p
Oh, that one's cute. There's a little sign here that tells you where the manhole is.
That's awesome. So it's right beside the... overpass!
The little bridge. I think I know where that is.
There's the overpass so it should be over there somewhere.
Should be up here.
VICTOR: Oh, there it is. CHRIS: Oh, already it's found.
SHARLA: Oh, what the hell. CHRIS: You walked just straight past it for the third time.
SHARLA: Yes, look at them. CHRIS: It's lickitung!
SHARLA: Nice, that's five, I think. CHRIS: Yaaaaay. Only 400 more to goooo, YEAAAH.
SHARLA: We found the next stamp! But we haven't found the manhole.
We kinda went over the parking lot and didn't see it..
..though we have a track record of just walking right past them. So who knows?
Nice!
So apparently this is the right location for the manhole but we can't find it.
Watch it just be under one of these cars in the parking lot. VICTOR: Oh, god...
Usually it's in front of the shop.
I thought maybe it would be over here infront of the shrine.
front of the shrine
hmm nope
nothing here either
victor's checking up there turns out the
manhole is nowhere near where we are
it's all the way over here at the
station
so i'll try to be my next but i got
strawberries so it was worth coming here
they cropped it
[Music]
cool it's a cute one so this area is
famous for sakura which is why they put
the sakura themed pokemon here
look at this
why didn't we come in the spring
why are we here in the winter
it looks great
maybe a walkway along beside it you take
this little like yeah
that's really cool rope car
it's awesome yeah look at
all these sakura lining the entire
river here
definitely have to come back so the next
manhole location actually brought us to
the area that has that rope car that we
were looking at on the sign
so it's up on a hill uh that has the
ruins of a castle
and yeah in the spring you can take a
rope car through the cherry blossoms
i will definitely have to come back here
and do that it looks really nice in the
spring we will do that it's not too far
from Sendai all right let's head inside
and get our stamp and then we'll search
for the manhole which we haven't seen
yet
[Music]
even the staff didn't know where the
manhole was
i think the larger map that i have
actually gives you the precise location
of each one so i'm gonna check that
oka ekimai
