  • Hello everybody Welcome back to Tokyo Creative Play.

  • I'm your host, Emma and today I'm here by myself but I also have a guest who is a rather affable gentleman.

  • He's staying in a very luxurious hotel and I want to take him out tonight to a very luxurious restaurant.

  • So let's go say hi and see how the hotel is.

  • Are you a Youtuber?

  • I am a flashback to five years ago.

  • Welcome Welcome.

  • Nice hotel.

  • It looks very like rustic on the outside.

  • It's so rustic.

  • Yes, I have actually been inside the room yet just standing in the lobby like this.

  • So I havent seen the room, I've heard it's quite good now, high ceilings.

  • This is the only time I've seen and it's really nice.

  • Five lovely bowls.

  • Downgrade the video demonetized.

  • There's a door here, I don't know which door is which lets open.

  • Come on in nicely.

  • Air conditioned is like 40°C today, whatever that is in Fahrenheit.

  • It's so hot coming here.

  • Nice, dry, cool air beautiful.

  • It's the highlight of the air conditioning.

  • You got this whole place to yourself.

  • So I'm staying here alone is staying in a hotel or something.

  • Whole property to myself, unfair is that I'll sleep in the corridor chris please let me sit here with my three imaginary friends and have a Mcdonald's muffin breakfast.

  • Okay, nice, good.

  • Is this all your luggage?

  • That's soap.

  • Oh, so this is where they were supposed to see that.

  • Let's go.

  • Not that way.

  • Try this door here.

  • Okay, hopefully there's not hand soap behind this.

  • Be careful.

  • Those doors are dangerous.

  • Doesn't look like a real wall.

  • This is like an escape room.

  • There's just loads of weird like doors leading to the entrance again, This is a blind.

  • Oh damn.

  • That's not what I was expecting.

  • Oh my gosh.

  • This is like a whole rock formation.

  • Oh wow.

  • The rocks are real.

  • It's not CGI rocks.

  • They're real.

  • And there's a really big rock there, wow.

  • Can you sit on it?

  • Is it is that is that really?

  • You know, it's not right.

  • It's hollow, just like me.

  • I can sit on it now.

  • It's too perfect to ruin.

  • That's really nice.

  • And there's an outdoor bar and more doors leading to things and a transparent ceiling and my feet really hurt because I'm standing on the rocks.

  • Let's see what's in here.

  • There's the lunch, it's a toilet, a book about Kyoto.

  • Yes.

  • Alright, that's the toilet.

  • What's behind this door?

  • Oh, it's the bathroom.

  • All those rocks.

  • The pain, the absolute pain hangover needs some water in the night, but it leads into a beautiful stone bathroom.

  • Beautiful la la, nice sink.

  • And look at this towels and pajamas for two.

  • Please let me stay here.

  • You can choose between which pajamas.

  • I want all the towels.

  • I could possibly desire to have a nice big shower here.

  • Rain shower head, very luxurious.

  • I think you're doing great, very impressed.

  • Demonstration of the shower and it leaves out to an absolutely incredible beautiful little outdoor zen garden and the tree in the natural light.

  • It's super nice.

  • It's just a nice little bit of a car in the middle of the city.

  • Right.

  • What I love about these town houses, they have these like just tucked away and concealed.

  • It's like being hugged by building.

  • You've got the tree, the rocks, the bath clean, it's clean and a little a little lamp from IkeA.

  • Nice.

  • Really nice.

  • Looking forward to sitting out here alone, enjoying it by myself and I'll send you some photos.

  • Great.

  • I'm sure it'll be as good as the real thing upstairs.

  • Show me more.

  • This is so cool.

  • This is such a cool property, wow!

  • Beautiful.

  • Beautiful.

  • That transparent floor is both amazing and slightly scary.

  • I don't know if I want to stand on, can it take the weight of 86 kg British guy?

  • Probably not.

  • The fact is like creaking that much.

  • Yeah, look at this.

  • This is like a film set.

  • I don't even know where to look at this.

  • Welcome to chris's kitchen.

  • If I was gonna have a kitchen show, this is what it would be.

  • But the food would be nice if we like a half cooked salmon and some salmonella and chips.

  • This is beautiful.

  • I love japanese style but got all the modern, modern, but also traditional every time you hear about it's like a traditional city, but also there needs to be like a new word trodden.

  • Traditional what's through this door here.

  • It looks like someone's going to town on this wall with a knife.

  • Yes, it's my favorite when they open up and they're like, no.

  • Yeah, that's all mine.

  • Can I sleep here?

  • Chris, no, it's too good for you.

  • It's very nice.

  • It is a really beautifully kind of renovated house though.

  • I'm all for these match here.

  • Unfortunately Kyoto townhouses are dying out just because they're not overly convenient to live in.

  • People in Kyoto.

  • Don't really like to live in match here.

  • So if you do come to Kyoto, don't stay in a generic hotel.

  • Like toki dory traveler, stay in a match here, keep them alive, keep them going.

  • If you got the budget, the budget out by pricing.

  • I think this place was 50,000 is what $400.

  • It's quite pricey.

  • I'm not paying for it.

  • Yeah, but money.

  • Well spent.

  • Beautiful place.

  • You come to Kyoto stay here.

  • Stay one of these places.

  • What I love about these traditional Kyoto townhouse is you never know what you might find tucked behind each and every door.

  • It's a snack box.

  • Today's video is sponsored by Sakura Co, which is a monthly subscription box where you can get a traditional japanese snacks and they partner with local artisanal snack makers and get all the good stuff inside And this month they've partnered with the local government to celebrate the ski me moon viewing festival in september.

  • So let's dive in and take a look and have some tea as well.

  • Hey, you're in charge of the tea.

  • I'm in charge of eating the snacks so many colors.

  • I'm always amazed with these boxes how much they can fit in.

  • They are very good at defying the laws of physics as much in as they possibly can look at this.

  • So this month's box is themed like skinny, the moon viewing festival and there's a few things that go along with that.

  • You get a lot of theme of the full moon or you can also get a lot of rabbits.

  • Speaking of rabbits there we go with the moon with the moon because in Western society we see like a man on the moon, but for japanese, it's like a rabbit.

  • People have different eyes also in this box because it's from kyoto as well.

  • There's a lot of different Kyoto snacks.

  • So like, yeah, you guys know about that.

  • Some very traditional kyoto vibes and flavors.

  • Lots of green tea stuff as well.

  • We also have this roasted green tea, which is my favorite hot.

  • It's hot decadent candies exceptional.

  • This is so good.

  • I do like, I do like the traditional kind of sweets, right, artisanal stuff they have in there.

  • This isn't stuff you can buy anywhere, right specialist items.

  • So it's kind of like a hot sunny day, needs something sweet and sugary that after that.

  • But I'm having some, which is very crunchy.

  • Got your teeth.

  • I've got this kyoto horti chart pudding as well with the aforementioned rabbit.

  • You were actually so good.

  • It's like cinnamon flavored and it's just like a really like crunchy biscuit.

  • How's your pudding?

  • Very refreshing, refreshing, flavorful.

  • Wonderful.

  • Yes.

  • But also just standing in a townhouse eating a box of sweets, Living the dream.

  • This is what you achieved all about.

  • This is what should be the only every video was this good.

  • But also it is nice to have a little bit of like a bit of a more savory tea along with some sweets.

  • It's nice, very nice.

  • Also in the box, you get a little booklet beautifully made telling you about all the sweets with allergy information if you have allergies, but it's not really nice hearing the story of each and every kind of sweet where they come from the story behind it.

  • Probably one of my favorite things about, but you can check them out in the link in the description box below and get $5 off your first box with the code.

  • Tokyo Creative do it, but it is not enough for you and you want just a little bit more.

  • There is also the Tokyo treat box.

  • This month's theme for Tokyo treat is also skinny and Tokyo treat is full of different kinds of japanese snacks that are more modern and check it out.

  • I've made short work of this candy box chris, stop eating, going to a restaurant.

  • Oh my goodness!

  • So we have come to an area called which is a nice little alleyway next to the river and there's lots of restaurants along the way and they get this beautiful little river dining experience.

  • Yeah, I mean Kyoto is extremely hot and humid in summer.

  • They call, this literally means river dot for me is like raised platform floor, raised just over the river.

  • And they say that river is like the coolest place in the city.

  • So that's why there is definitely a nicer breeze here than there is in all the alleyways, so it's cooling down a little bit.

  • Absolutely.

  • Although this is formidably hot, the heat of the Sukiyaki is canceling out the cool breeze.

  • We have some beautiful A five wagyu beef here, look at that.

  • And we have some my favorite actually, nice sort of savory omelet.

  • We also have veggies, vegetables.

  • I mean these are for Emma, that's for Emma.

  • Many of these are from kyoto, like the onions and the tofu from kyoto.

  • So lots of local food beats from sugar is the next door to here.

  • And we're gonna be doing some Sukiyaki, which means it's kind of like shabu shabu, you take the meat and you go swish swish in the, in the soup.

  • But then you also dip it in raw egg.

  • Do you like hockey with the raw eggs?

  • I do like it sounds, it's really wrong, eating a raw egg, right, you think salmonella, let's go.

  • But actually it's nice.

  • You've got the sort of the beef that's cooked in the sauce, it's quite sweet and then you mix it with the egg which is kind of like savory flavor.

  • It actually works really well.

  • And you sort of forget very quickly that you're eating a raw egg.

  • But I mean that's quite common in japan, right?

  • It's fine, safe for the most part.

  • But yeah, you can get stuck in.

  • Thank you for this Emma, thank you very much t C.

  • Provides, you don't pretend it's me after you with the with the beef.

  • Chef chris in the house.

  • Let's see how you do.

  • Hashtag chef extraordinaire.

  • Hashtag winner hashtag look how quickly that cooks what it's been in there like four seconds.

  • It's already cooked, it's gorgeous.

  • I do like the sauce, it's kind of like sweet.

  • What's in the sauce.

  • It should be like sugar, sugar sauce.

  • Maybe some dashi as well.

  • It depends.

  • I mean, if you, if you give it to me, I'll be very happy.

  • I'll give you the swish your egg up there, Swishing the egg.

  • So it takes about 30 seconds to cook the beef, I'd say put down your plate and I'll probably get to work on mine.

  • That beautiful, beautiful, nice buttery melt in your mouth wagyu beef heat is crazy.

  • I mean there's a really nice breeze here but even that is not enough to cancel out the humidity.

  • Like I would not recommend going to Japan in summer.

  • Don't come in July.

  • Don't come in August come at the end of September October.

  • Honestly how is it?

  • Really good?

  • So soft.

  • Really just easy to bite through.

  • Did it melt in your mouth?

  • It melted in my mouth and the egg just adds another layer of flavor and texture.

  • That's really good.

  • Even though it's a hot day.

  • I still love eating hot food outside.

  • It's just wonderful.

  • It's like a summer barbecue.

  • You know just a little bit more japanese but look at that, it's rough.

  • It makes it all worthwhile when you get something like this.

  • Mm We have just received some hummel which is pike conger eel and I've never had it before.

  • I've only ever had to go and I don't think I've had this either.

  • I mean I love ill love a bit of a little bit of hell I never had this.

  • I don't know what the flavors like.

  • It's good but it's a popular thing to have in summer and yeah, very soft.

  • There are like some tiny bones but they're not like in the way it was kind of them.

  • I think it's really good at taking on whatever flavor it's cooked with and it's just a nice texture without the broth.

  • It would be flavorless.

  • Yeah it's quite nice.

  • Very succulent.

  • Not bad, succulent fish.

  • We've received it in a bunch of different ways.

  • We got the cooker.

  • Fresh.

  • We also have some I guess it's a body so blow torched and then also some temple gonna finish cooking this meal And I'm going to head back to my swanky accommodation.

  • Thank you Emma for this dinner.

  • Thank you for having me in Cato and most photos of the place chilling out alone this evening.

  • Thanks.

  • And I'm going to go back to my gutter and cry, but I'm happy to share a little bit of luxury with you in this beautiful summer in Kyoto.

  • Let us know in the comments down below.

  • Have you guys been to Kyoto and have you eaten at one of these places along the river?

  • Because it's super nice.

  • Remember never come to Kyoto, it's summer.

  • You guys have a good one.

  • What I love about these traditional Kyoto townhouses is you never know what you might find.

  • If you look closely look around, it's the sponsor of this video, Sakura Code.

  • Oh my goodness!

  • What a coincidence!
