  • The shop makes more than 100 pounds of pillow drops per day,

  • and sometimes more depending on the season.

  • The skill requires some muscle and a gentle drop.

  • First, sugar, corn syrup, and water are brought to a boil.

  • A candy thermometer keeps track of the temperature.

  • The mixture is poured onto a surface

  • where it forms a candy sheet.

  • While the candy sheet is still hot,

  • the confectioner begins flipping and folding it

  • for several minutes.

  • They add flavor and coloring, and the kneading begins.

  • Next, they stretch the candy.

  • The candymaker layers all the flavors into a block.

  • They stretch and roll it until a beautiful rope forms

  • with all the flavors.

  • They cut the rope,

  • place it in the press, and push it down.

  • And finally, they do the pillow drop.

  • Pillow drop with one rope, two ropes,

  • three ropes, even four!
