  • Mhm Okay, so I'm back with another one of these videos.

  • I haven't done it for several months, but I thought it was appropriate to do it now because one the summer is coming in to japan is starting to slowly open up.

  • Therefore I want to share some of my favorite convenience store snacks for the summer this year in 2022.

  • Alright, let's do this number one rich garlic butter flavored greenpeace snack from family mart.

  • Okay, so this one right here is just a rich garlic butter flavored Greenpeace snack.

  • So this right here looks like edamame but it's actually into which is a little bit different and then have some garlic here and then I think they put it all together to make this greenpeace snack comes in this little like wavy Philippine texture.

  • Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what I'm talking about, it's so crispy and crunchy.

  • The first thing you taste is that garlic punch and then afterwards you kind of taste the butter and the green pea snack at the end.

  • It is a little bit salty.

  • Oh and something I should note right here says funny motive.

  • It says a family motive which is a collaboration between Familymart.

  • So you can only find this family mark.

  • It just grows on you so quickly.

  • Just like hello from Tokyo back here.

  • It says shrimp.

  • It also has some crab and egg in here.

  • You want to try this?

  • Mm It is really garlicky.

  • It has like a little bit of cheesiness.

  • For some reason.

  • It has cheese powder cheese but it does have a cheesiness to write.

  • I think if it was only garlicky, it has like a garlic aftertaste but it has like a mild cheesy, milky aftertaste.

  • It's good.

  • I push this push, I can't push it this way.

  • Oh no, you mean you know, you can say pushing p doesn't mean I can't remember, it's a good thing or a bad thing, but I think it's one of the latest words, Number two Hobo Cremo.

  • Cream puff from Lawson puff.

  • The magic dragon.

  • He lived by the sea.

  • You don't know that song.

  • This is a cream puff from Lawson?

  • It's called hobo cream.

  • Oh, this is made by Yamazaki.

  • I love this thing.

  • It is so delicious.

  • Toko cream.

  • What does mean you enter the japanese with japanese?

  • It's like cream on top of cream.

  • But you want some more cream on top of that.

  • Some more.

  • Let me just break this open in front of the camera.

  • So I'm not the best at this.

  • Just kind of mess up.

  • But we're gonna do it anyway.

  • Huh?

  • Whoa.

  • Oh yeah, whoa.

  • It is like a rich milk taste but it is so creamy.

  • The bun itself is just super, super soft.

  • The texture is really on the chewy side.

  • Sometimes like cream puffs have like this really airy dope.

  • But this one is like mochi, it's like essentially like like mochi dough with this ultra silky smooth cream filling and it is amazing.

  • I actually just want to have this whole thing to myself but I think I need to share.

  • Mm Sookie.

  • No, it has a certain consistency, like a firmness but it's still airy and the cream is good.

  • It's like I'm only eating cream.

  • I feel like I am still eating the skin, which is really good.

  • # three chicky chicky bone, Horikawa chips from Nippon Ham.

  • This video would not be complete if you didn't have some sort of fried chicken snack.

  • This one is the fried chicken hitter for this video.

  • They are like little chicken skins.

  • This is called chicky chicky boom.

  • Maybe it's like chicky boom chicky boom.

  • Where is it from?

  • The chicken with some beer but a great combination.

  • Little does he know he's the one that's gonna get eaten.

  • You see the peppers all up in there as well.

  • Yeah, it's crunchy.

  • It's peppery.

  • Not so light has that oily fried chicken skin taste.

  • You know, you can take the chicken skin and just cook it fry it up and then serve it tastes exactly like that, a little bit salty.

  • This snack is not one of those snacks that I would crave if I was just like, oh, let me get that chicken snack and just kind of like eat by itself.

  • But it's like the snack where if you are drinking with friends and you want to have like a little like dishes to eat while you're drinking and this is like the perfect thing to do it.

  • Yeah, I like the tray.

  • That does look good.

  • You don't like it.

  • I feel like I'm eating fried oil.

  • Yeah, the perfect beer snack.

  • It's really oily, but it makes you want to take another sip of your beer.

  • So now I would wash it down with a beer.

  • But then like, I don't think I want to go for another.

  • I do really number four grill montane bogey omelet rice from loss in.

  • So this is the ah modise in english omelet rice.

  • It basically is egg and then you have in japanese, they call it a ketchup rice, ketchup rice doesn't sound so appealing to non japanese people don't know it's still good nonetheless.

  • And it's only 555 yen, wow.

  • As you can see the eggs are, I don't know how they've done it, but it's still quite runny.

  • Look at that, see how just, but put it on some of this rice.

  • See that just runny egg right there.

  • Boom.

  • Yeah, wow, that is so much flavor.

  • There is a lot going on in this dish.

  • First of all the eggs are phenomenally runny.

  • They're not like hard and crusty.

  • They're just kind of like a gooey, gooey egg, which I love.

  • The Demi glace sauce is a little bit sweet but it also has like a bitterness to it.

  • And then the rice does have that like tomato ketchup flavor but also it has some onions in here.

  • And I should note that it is like a collaboration between lawson and grill montane bushy and I feel like there's like pieces of chicken in here.

  • Yeah, you can go sauce to rice or you can go rice to sauce whichever way you like it.

  • You ate the whole entire rice.

  • There's a big hole and there's like you left a lot of egg.

  • Mm It's crazy how they keep it so runny.

  • If you migrated that much, it gets hard but it's super runny.

  • They must put like cream or something about the rice has a little sour nous eggs has a good texture but the taste itself is kind of flat, you know, it's a really good balance.

  • Number five crunchy ume plums from family mart.

  • So this one's going to change the flavor profile of what we've been eating so far.

  • The crunchy plum hitter, no artificial flavors or food coloring brought to you by Sami because this heat.

  • Oh coochie carry carry carry carry is crunchy and then Tito kuchi means like one bite.

  • You know usually you see it there read but these are green.

  • Obviously it's almost like a texture of a pickle.

  • What it has just the right amount of sour nous also is more on the pickled side.

  • Yeah, it's sweet sour and has kind of like a dill pickle kind of taste to it.

  • It's like a mix between the japanese pickling and the western pickling.

  • That's why I kind of like it.

  • Also, I like the crunchiness and this one you can definitely eat the whole bag and it's refreshing.

  • Like it's perfect for the summer.

  • So the whole bag itself is only 13 calories.

  • So if you want a snack and you try to limit your calorie intake, then this is the way to go number six kind of from jokey.

  • This next one is one of my favorites.

  • It is a spicy chica snack and it's like one big piece of dried ika and opening it like refreshing.

  • Look at that perfectly shaped.

  • There's actually 1234.

  • There's five total of these brilliant snacks.

  • You can see that it is a little bit thin, crispy crack et crackle Dackell.

  • Good.

  • Let's take the first bite mm kinda has like a tortilla chip texture when you bite into it.

  • It's a little bit maybe even harder than a tortilla chip definitely is spicy.

  • No it's not like burning your tongue.

  • But it's like, oh it is spicy.

  • No, I love the crunchiness to it and if you want to have something just a little bit spicy but not too spicy, then this is the perfect snack number seven Allo yogurt bar from Morinaga.

  • If you ever get a sunburn, what is the first thing that you should do for your skin?

  • No, no, like what do you know, what do you put on?

  • Yeah, there you go.

  • This is an allo yogurt bar.

  • When I first came to japan, one of my favorite favorite snacks was right here allo yogurt, Have you had it if you had it before?

  • I feel like I haven't seen this.

  • Maybe it's been around, maybe it has, maybe it hasn't, but now it is a nice bar and I believe melted a little bit when I bought this.

  • It might not be true to form of like how it's supposed to look.

  • So I apologize for that.

  • It's a little bit melted.

  • Huh?

  • Mm that is so refreshing.

  • It's like literally the same taste as the yogurt, but I feel like they've done something to the mixture.

  • Even this just came out of our freezer.

  • It's still soft and pliable chewy.

  • Yeah, it has a low chunks in here, but the yogurt is so strong, but it does have that alot flavor.

  • I don't know what else to say about this thing, but it's just so good.

  • And so this one I actually got at 7 11.

  • Sometimes not all of the comedians have the same stuff.

  • Probably best luck to find it there, but you know, it might be another one.

  • So definitely check it out.

  • It is my one and only recommendation for ice cream in this video.

  • It's still good.

  • It's wonderful.

  • It is a wonderful life.

  • Let's move on to the next one.

  • Number eight Saku Saku panda from Kaba.

  • So this one I wanted to include mainly for its cute design.

  • Hit the music panda panda panda panda panda.

  • So there we go.

  • We got the peach and butterfly pea panda hitter.

  • You've never seen a butterfly pea before.

  • I've actually never seen one either says asian pigeon wing.

  • Oh, I love the smell.

  • It really smells like bag of tea and flowers.

  • What I love about this too is that the pandas, they all have different faces in here.

  • You got angry panda.

  • Dead panda drunk panda.

  • This panda even has a mask.

  • Oh, this one's clapping.

  • Let's do angry panda because get rid of that guy.

  • We don't need angry pandas in our life.

  • It's basically a chocolate cookie biscuit.

  • But I think I like this one because it has such a unique and interesting flavor.

  • It's like a mix of the peach and then this butterfly pea kind of like an herbal tea.

  • It's a little bit refreshing, but also like you're eating a box of flowers or old women, but at the end of the day.

  • It's like a chocolate biscuit flavored with t can you just taste, I can maybe put it on my face.

  • I look like I'm crapping crapping.

  • Keeping that one.

  • Old women.

  • Number nine Angels cheesecake from family Mart.

  • You know, it's awesome.

  • Familymart loss in all these places are just constantly pumping out sweets and they have like this little section where you know, it's constantly rotating and right now, family mart has this cheesecake says 10 chino cheesecake angel cheesecake, lovely cheesecake smell.

  • It has a crumbly top right here.

  • Mhm.

  • I mean this is just like a good old cheesecake and then if you just dig deep into here, you can see crumbly cake on top.

  • It's not like crunchy or anything.

  • It's like the actual moist cake.

  • If you have some whipped cream, they're custardy thing in the middle.

  • You can see just at the bottom here, whipped cream plus all of the cheesecake filling, like a custard filling.

  • You can't go wrong with this.

  • It is so good.

  • This one is kind of like a sponge cake almost.

  • It has like the crumbly on the top.

  • Also has a crumble like bread on the bottom.

  • Not to say that the cream isn't here because it is filled with a beautiful way to live a life.

  • I love doing these videos and number 10 mi casa, Yaki soba fried noodles with egg from Lawson.

  • So we are going all festivals today.

  • Yaki soba, I'm bringing the festival back home.

  • So this one is another one of my favorites for the summer one because it's just festival friendly.

  • Sometimes you can't go to the festival because of Covid, but now they're starting to open up Michael and I went yesterday.

  • If you guys want to see that video, it'll probably appear on the Tokyo zebra channel probably six months from now.

  • If you were to translate, this would be fried noodle with egg on 538 yen with tax.

  • Yeah.

  • So it's quite affordable.

  • Less than $5.

  • It has some of these fluffy runny eggs here you have the soba noodles.

  • Has some al Nori which is seaweed in this piece of pork cabbage.

  • Um, I forgot what this is called yoga ginger pickled ginger.

  • Anyways, let me just take a bite of all of this.

  • Get some of these noodles right here, just like, so mm that is some good Yaki soba.

  • It has, you know, your standard Yaki soba says the egg is nice and soft and it has a savory nous to it.

  • It's so good.

  • And this is like the perfect portion size.

  • This is another collaboration between Lawson and the shop is called Mikasa in Jimbo cho just serves Yaki soba.

  • They have some of the best Yaki soba.

  • Like I mean they're so good that they're able to make an actual shop or Yaki soba.

  • That's how good it is.

  • And one of their kind of like signature things is having a runny egg, which is why this one has a runny egg as well.

  • So what I like about it is that it has a lot of cabbage and vegetables gives like a shocking crispness.

  • The noodles really like, did you talk about the noodles?

  • They're good, they're flat, It's not too thing, it's like a medium size, no music.
