  • My Pride is not intended for children and contains mature themes and violence...

  • Ain't that a surprise.

  • We lost Fire's trail that first night in the rain.

  • Feather and I have been lost on the Prideless Stretch ever since.

  • We've been eating things even the vultures don't want.

  • Or, Feather has.

  • It's rare for me to find enough for both of us.

  • Thank you, Nothing! I'm starving!

  • [SNARLS]

  • I... I'm sorry.

  • Here, you take it.

  • Are you sure?

  • You need it more than I do.

  • Being alone on the Stretch is bad enough, but having someone else to take care of...

  • I'm not sure how much longer this can go on.

  • I think about Hover a lot.

  • I wonder if she stayed in the Pride.

  • If I'll ever see her again.

  • She lived her whole life on the Stretch

  • I never understood how strong she must have been before.

  • Nothing?

  • Feather? Why are you awake?

  • I can't sleep.

  • Can you tell me the story about Asra? The way Sharptongue used to?

  • Oh! Um...

  • I can try!

  • I'll never tell it as well as Sharptongue, but I'll do my best!

  • When the world was new, Asra ran away from the other Goddesses in the sky.

  • She hid among the mortals on Earth.

  • Asra's sisters, Sunce and Cansu, searched for her.

  • Cansu hunted as best she could on land,

  • while Sunce used her burning eye in the sky to scour the whole savannah at once.

  • Of course, Sunce found her first.

  • Sunce was outraged to discover Asra had left because she'd fallen in love with a mortal.

  • In her rage, Sunce called a bolt of lighting down to kill him.

  • However, Sunce's actions had unintended consequences.

  • Asra couldn't look away from the light that killed her love.

  • It was so powerful that it blinded her.

  • When Cansu discovered what Sunce had done, she was incensed.

  • She forced Sunce to atone for her mistake.

  • And so, Sunce gave Asra a sliver of her very soul as penance.

  • With this, Asra grew new eyes of pure light.

  • Asra remained bilnd but her new eyes could see the spirits of the dead in the darkness.

  • We can see Asra's blind white eye as the moon above us today.

  • And she brings all the lost spirits to live with her in the stars, right?

  • I was getting to that part.

  • Asra found her love's spirit wandering the Eath and brought him to the night sky to live

  • with her forever.

  • When his loved ones died, she brought them too.

  • And then their loved ones, and on and on until she was

  • collecting the spirits of each and every lion who passed.

  • And Sharptongue's up there?

  • If Asra heard our call, she is.

  • And my Dad?

  • Your Dad?

  • He's dead, isn't he?

  • My sisters too, right?

  • Feather, I...

  • I'm not stupid, Nothing.

  • That's the only reason you'd take me away from home.

  • A No-Mane killed him. And he wanted to kill me too, didn't he?

  • I'm so sorry, I wanted to tell you.

  • Don't say sorry. It's not you who should be sorry.

  • Which No-Mane did it?

  • I don't think knowing that will help.

  • Please! I want to know.

  • Proud.

  • Proud.

  • Are you okay?

  • No. All of this is wrong.

  • I hate Pride Law.

  • My family should still be alive and we never should have had to leave.

  • I know. It's not fair. It's just the way things are.

  • It shouldn't be.

  • When I'm big, I'm gonna fix it. All of it.

  • We won't ever be scared or sad or hungry ever again.

  • How about we start with getting some sleep tonight

  • before fixing the whole world, hm?

  • Yeah. Okay.

  • Nothing?

  • I love you.

  • You broke a promise.

  • Hover?

  • This was important to me.

  • I threw away my life for this!

  • For you!

  • The memory is painful but it is yours.

  • Get out of my head!

  • You need to remember.

  • Nothing!

  • Nothing!

  • There's someone out there!

  • It couldn't be...

  • Hover?

  • Hover!

  • Hover!

  • What are you yammering about?

  • I... thought you were someone else...

  • Sorry...

  • Ah. We're all looking for someone.

  • You and your cub lost then, honey?

  • I'm not her cub! My mom is back with our Pride.

  • Hm. Pride borns then.

  • I suppose you two are thirsty?

  • Very! We haven't found water in days!

  • Do you know of some nearby?

  • Always.

  • Any Prideless on the Stretch knows where to

  • find every drop of water from here to the Stonelands.

  • What are the Stonelands?

  • Exactly.

  • Follow me.

  • Is it just me or is this water AMAZING?

  • Say, Pride lioness. Can I talk to you?

  • I'll be right back.

  • Thanks again for your help. This means the world to us.

  • What do you need?

  • I like your scars. How'd you get 'em?

  • Thank you. But you don't have to be nice. I know they're an eyesore.

  • Maybe to a Pride Lion, but we Prideless have a soft spot for scars like yours.

  • Really? I've always... hated mine.

  • Scars mean you went through something tough in the past.

  • Survived it, and came back stronger.

  • Out on the Stretch, we respect that.

  • I've never thought about it that way.

  • Well I hope you think about it that way from now on.

  • But... that's not why I called you here.

  • What is it?

  • You should drop that cub.

  • What!? Why?

  • I can teach you to survive out here.

  • You've got a strong spirit on you and that's what it takes on the Stretch.

  • But that fat little cub?

  • He won't make it.

  • And he'll take you down with him.

  • Feather and I have been doing fine.

  • No. You haven't.

  • Anyone can see that he's stayed round as an egg while you're nothin' but skin and bones.

  • In Prides we learn to put others first.

  • You're not in a Pride anymore, honey.

  • Any Prideless worth her salt would've dumped that cub weeks ago.

  • It's not even yours.

  • I know he's not mine but--

  • Do you even love that thing?

  • Or is this just some leftover sense of Pride responsibility?

  • "Cause that won't serve you here.

  • I...

  • Look.

  • You and me can leave right now.

  • I'll travel with you, show you the secrets of the Stretch and all the tricks I know to

  • stay alive.

  • But I'm not taking that cub with us.

  • So make up your mind.

  • Nothing?

  • Is everything okay?

  • I was just saying goodbye to our Prideless friend.

  • She was just about to go.

  • Made your choice, huh?

  • I would rather neither of us made it than leave him alone out here.

  • I admire that.

  • Say, you ever heard of the Shifting Place?

  • Once.

  • What is it?

  • It's this place that's green even in dry season.

  • Where the rivers are always cold and clear.

  • With trees so big you swear they touch the sun.

  • And smack dab in the middle there's this big waterfall.

  • Tallest thing you've ever seen.

  • Whoa!! That sounds amazing!

  • We should go there, Nothing!

  • Where is that?

  • Well that's the thing, sweetie. It shifts.

  • It's one place one day, and someplace completely different the next.

  • Kinda like a mirage.

  • Ain't that neat?

  • Yeah! Super neat!

  • Thank you for all your help.

  • I never even asked your name.

  • What do we call you?

  • You can call me Rain, sweetie.

  • Anyway, I'll be off.

  • The journey's never over and all that.

  • It was real nice meeting you two!

  • Goodbye, Rain!!

  • She was nice!

  • Feather. I need you to learn how to hunt.

  • But... hunting is a lioness's job.

  • I know that's how it is in the Pride but we're on our own now.

  • I can't do this alone.

  • I need your help. Can I count on you?

  • Of course you can count on me!

  • Those zebras will taste my fury!

  • Hey, Feather.

  • Yeah?

  • I love you. You know that?

  • I love you too, Nothing.
