  • Can you guys fix this?

  • Oh, how did you get that scar?

  • I did it.

  • You didyou got hurt? You have a scar, too?

  • No, I did it to him.

  • Oh, you did it to him.

  • You... you're very interesting.

  • - Hi. - Hi. - Hi.

  • - What's your name? - Helena.

  • Helena? And what's your name?

  • - Ethan. - Shahram.

  • Pleasure meeting you, man. How old are you?

  • Seven and a half.

  • Half; gotta get that half in there.

  • - You know what I do? - No.

  • I am what is called a plastic surgeon.

  • You know what that is?

  • - Yes. - You do? Good.

  • I've been hoping someone would tell me 'cause I'm not quite sure.

  • What do you think a plastic surgeon does?

  • Doing stuff on somebody's body, but it's not completely helping their health.

  • - That's kinda close.

  • I do mostly what's called cosmetic surgery.

  • There's nothing wrong with them physically or anything like that,

  • but there's a part of their body they don't like, and they want it to look a little bit nicer.

  • I give people different body parts when they want a new one.

  • - That's nice.

  • - It is nice.

  • Is there any part of your body you want swapped out?

  • We can do it right now.

  • - No, no, no, no! - No?

  • - Can you like cut off somebody's arm and then put a different somebody's arm on?

  • - We can use arms from people who've died, and put those arms on.

  • - Those are kinda creepy.

  • - Say you don't have a foot.

  • - Would we make another foot?

  • - No, you need a plastic foot or something.

  • - Should listen to her, she's got it.

  • - Helena, how can you make teeth?

  • - Oh, really good question.

  • Teeth can grow.

  • - What if you don't have the growing parts of the teeth?

  • - You can get plastic teeth.

  • - Perfect.

  • - Why do grownups want to change their appearance?

  • - Sometimes there's something that's bothered them their whole life, and they feel kinda self-conscious or shy about it.

  • - It's good that they're different 'cause then they're unique, and then your name is Bob and his name is Bob, and then it's like everybody in this world is the same person.

  • - Yeah, that would be weird.

  • - That's also creepy.

  • - What do you find people want you to operate the most on?

  • - A lot of folks, they don't like the way their nose looks.

  • - Oh.

  • So they want me to make their nose look better.

  • We do that.

  • - So, I broke my nose.

  • The bridge has gotten a little bit fatter on the edges, but otherwise not--

  • - You're still really good looking.

  • - A face only a mother could love.

  • - No.

  • (laughter)

  • - I hope no one has said that to you.

  • - Pretend I don't like this nose shape.

  • I called you,

  • and I like shape it as a different shape I want.

  • - Yeah, but if you called me, and you said you didn't like your nose, I would say, "Your nose is absolutely perfect.

  • Don't let anybody touch it."

  • We don't do that kind of surgery on kiddos.

  • - What's the weirdest thing that you had done in your surgery?

  • - Like the weirdest operation I have ever had to do?

  • - Mm-hmm. - Something like that?

  • God, I'm not sure I can say.

  • Most of it's pretty graphic, some of the stuff to kids.

  • - It's cool.

  • - Yeah?

  • He looked like a tomato, and squish it up with like a potato, and then put two eyes on it, and that's what he looked like when he started.

  • But, you know, a little magic here, a little hard work there, and boom, back to being cute.

  • Not as cute as you, but not bad.

  • (child giggles)

  • - Do you have a favorite part of the body to operate on?

  • - I don't have any one favorite part.

  • So like one day I'll operate on--

  • - Toes?

  • - Someone's toes.

  • - Knees? - Someone's knees.

  • - A finger? - Yup.

  • - A shoulder? - Yup.

  • - Tongue?

  • - If they don't have a tongue, we gotta make 'em a tongue.

  • - Which is kinda creepy.

  • - It seems like most what I'm doing is kinda creepy.

  • - Yeah.

  • - So you can operate on somebody's butt or something?

  • - We can totally operate on somebody's butt.

  • - Really?

  • - Butt surgery?

  • Super popular.

  • - (sings) I like big butts and I cannot lie! (giggles)

  • - We will play that song in the operating room sometimes just to get us motivated.

  • (child giggles)

  • - What do you have to bring in the operating room?

  • - Right, so we have to put on certain things on our face, on our hair.

  • You guys want to put on some doctor stuff?

  • - No. - Yeah.

  • - This one goes on your left hand.

  • See that? That's your thumb.

  • - What way does this go?

  • - That's actually perfect.

  • Just like that.

  • - Do you think like beauty standards have changed and like rose?

  • - I think plastic surgery is way more common.

  • It used to be just for the elite and the wealthy.

  • But now it's really common.

  • People, most of our patients are just regular folks.

  • I also think that people want their bodies and their faces to look more natural.

  • They don't want to look operated on.

  • A long time ago, that's what people really wanted.

  • They wanted to look almost a little fake.

  • So now it's really not like that.

  • - Thank you, Shahram. - One more question.

  • - [Shahram] Thank you. - One more question.

  • - You're welcome.

  • My sister has three boobies.

  • - Wow.

  • - But we can't find a doctor.

  • - Oh, you can't find a doctor to help her?

  • - No, the first doctor we called for grownups, not kids.

  • - Oh, yeah, well, you know what?

  • Third booby is not hurting her right now.

  • - It's growing. - It's growing.

  • Yes, they do tend to do that.

  • - Thank you, Shahram. - Thank you, thanks man.

  • - Thank you, Shahram.

  • - Thank you, ma'am.

  • It's good meeting you, and you guys are great kids.

  • - Thank you.

  • - Thanks Micah, it was great meeting you, man.

  • - Nice to meet you too.

  • - La-la-la-la-la-la-la.

  • Big person who falls his pants.

  • (children laugh)
