  • today, I'm drinking the most expensive beer in all of Japan.

  • Mm hmm, mm hmm.

  • So I've searched far and wide throughout all of Japan to find the most expensive beer.

  • And I think I've done it and I'm so excited to share it all with you today.

  • Unfortunately.

  • Michael isn't down to drink a lot of beer with me today, luckily I have a friend that's willing to step in and you've probably seen him in one of my previous videos.

  • And as much as I love beer, he loves beer a lot more than I do.

  • All right now.

  • So can you join?

  • Alright, so NATO's here.

  • If you guys haven't seen him before in a previous video, let me just show you a quick little clip studio.

  • You're gonna go get some beer.

  • That's not enough.

  • That was a fun time.

  • Right?

  • Yes, three years ago, three years.

  • Are you excited?

  • I'm so excited.

  • Well, let me just let people know what we're going to be doing here in this video.

  • Basically what we're gonna do is I'm going to share with NATO for the first time the different beers that we're going to be introducing to all of you.

  • We're going to have a look at it and then I'm going to have him decide which one is the most expensive thing you can do that.

  • I think I'm a beer.

  • Master.

  • Master Beer.

  • The master Yoda, he's a drink or do not.

  • There are no hangover.

  • Okay.

  • Before I start, like always if you guys want to see what I'm doing on the daily then check out my instagram account.

  • Okay, Okay.

  • Not a, wasn't ready for that one.

  • So here we go.

  • A quick breakdown on our first beer.

  • Nine tailed Fox 1999 brooding Nasu a one of a kind vintage beer designed specifically to taste better over time.

  • This limited edition bottle from 1999 come strong at 11% and it's brewed with water directly from the melted snow of Nasu Highlands named after a mythical and powerful Japanese spirit with the Nasa history.

  • It may or may not have helped it win the coveted Japan asia beer cup gold award to make things more comparable, will divide all the prices into a 300 mil can size.

  • So this $101.60 per can, 90 old fox.

  • Isn't that from Naruto?

  • Yeah, the nine tailed Fox 99.

  • Damn, this thing is old.

  • It looks like something jesus would drink.

  • Oh damn.

  • 11% alcohol.

  • It's like taking a shot almost.

  • Okay, I'm excited to try this out.

  • Lococo Tokyo white brewed in Shizuoka about $10.60.

  • So proclaimed that Japan's first luxury beer.

  • This hitter was crafted to be served alongside the finest cuisines in Japan.

  • This 5.5% beer has a fruity aroma, creamy texture and a sharp finish designed to be enjoyed in a wine glass.

  • It's very popular with Michelin restaurants.

  • Usually they say if you have like a japanese meal, like a kaiseki, it's really difficult to drink with beer, but this one, it goes well with kaiseki meal that goes well with french meals.

  • Did I remember that correctly?

  • Almost.

  • What did I miss here?

  • Usually don't go well because the food is too elegant or the french meal structure is complicated.

  • So the beer basically kills it.

  • So this is designed for a very complicated meal.

  • So that's that upright monkey brewed in Nagano about $10.70 aging wine barrels for 12 months before bottling, then another 10 months for a 2nd and 3rd fermentation in bottle, it delivers a refreshing scent derived from sage and a spicy citrusy from japanese peppers, creating a clear citrus taste all in the 6.5% beer.

  • Look at that, It says batch 001 bottled on 2020.

  • Look at that, it's the first batch, it looks like it's been a partnership between and upright brewing.

  • Probably just use the same bottles.

  • It does look quite expensive though.

  • This barrel aged feather feather here.

  • So it's like a monk spear.

  • Okay, so that is the upright monkey kagura blanc Special Edition 2018 brood and Yamanashi about $15.

  • This limited edition bottle from 2018 creates a fresh yuzu Esther and cilantro flavor experience with a soft carbonation coming strong at 10% and a secondary fermentation in bottle.

  • This unique hitter has a five year expiration date meaning it gets better with age.

  • The next one is kagura kagura looks like straight up wine bottle quality.

  • This one's also pretty high 10% Kagura blank.

  • So it's kind of like a white beer, including users of sunshine.

  • It's kind of like a numbing pepper kind of in the sunshine in your beer, not you just want to drink.

  • You're like stop telling me about all this beer.

  • Finally, this is one of Asahi super dry.

  • Asahi super dry brewed all over Japan about a dollar and 70 cents loved by japanese locals and first time visitors, it's known for its catacombs taste meaning dry.

  • It has a refreshing, crisp and clear taste.

  • Perfect for any meal or breakup, helping people find their smile.

  • Since 1987.

  • You'll find this 5% beer everywhere you go in Japan.

  • So there is the gauntlet.

  • We have five different beers for NATO to taste you ready for this.

  • I'm ready.

  • I'm very excited.

  • It's been one hour to hour.

  • You know what to shake things up.

  • We're going to first do a blind taste test to see if we can match the beer with a bottle.

  • Also a quick reminder NATO still doesn't know the price of each beer and to make things comparable.

  • We've broken down the actual bottle price into a 350 mil can size, let's see how this goes.

  • Right now we have all five beers in front of us, labeled 12345.

  • I have my set, he has his sets just looking at the colors right now.

  • Obviously number four is probably the darkest and one is maybe the lightest.

  • I don't know.

  • What do you, what do you see the game?

  • Just like number two on this one.

  • I don't even have to taste this one.

  • Yeah, I can see the color totally was like really, I've been watching this color every day every day.

  • Michael, is he?

  • Right, So this is not the most expensive.

  • So I think we've already knocked one off.

  • That was quick.

  • I didn't expect you to know that that was Asahi straight off the bat.

  • But good work.

  • Since you already know, let's just have a cheers to that one, one down.

  • So now we have 12345 left.

  • Before we continue.

  • Okay, go ahead.

  • Okay.

  • No, it's definitely a white beard, you know, but it tastes like that to be honest with, it's really easy to drink.

  • It's one of those like summer beers.

  • Can I venture to say that it's one of those beers that you can probably eat with a very sophisticated meal, almost like a little like a wine, but like just very mellow taste and quota usage and why don't you compare with the thank you Michael?

  • We're getting lost.

  • We're going to try five here.

  • I mean if you compare the 21 in five, I believe, one looks a little bit lighter and five looks like more of a golden brown.

  • Pretty similar.

  • Pretty similar means.

  • Oh man, that is completely different than the other beers.

  • That is so fruity, you can taste the acid in there.

  • The number one.

  • Number one.

  • Number one is the cocoa just because it's so like simple.

  • What do you think think number five is it tastes like a sour, like a grapefruit sour or something.

  • You just have a little sip like citrusy.

  • I'm running in english, stretchy, just so stretchy.

  • Something hit my stomach.

  • Number five alcohol is supposed to be six point not so strong.

  • I think This one is from talking about 915.

  • I would have to say it's upright monkey.

  • No two, I think he's gone now.

  • That was a long time ago.

  • I agree.

  • I agree.

  • I think the answer is right, here we got it.

  • There we go.

  • Let's go.

  • Hey, you want to take a fried chicken break?

  • Yes, you can choose.

  • So we're taking a quick fried chicken break.

  • What do you guys think so far, Michael, you're doing great to it.

  • Like just helping us like a journey next for you.

  • She's not Johnny Knoxville with him.

  • So we are left with number three and 4 and then from there we can decide which one is the most expensive.

  • What did you, what did you say?

  • I just wanted to for us.

  • Brown.

  • Number four, we have to want to know.

  • Just test.

  • Okay, okay, wow, that is strong, definitely has like a smoky taste, but at the same time, I can't drink whiskey.

  • I'm not a whiskey drinker.

  • I can drink this.

  • I can't drink whiskey.

  • It's a lot smoother than whiskey.

  • I mean for sure.

  • Right, it's beer.

  • I think you should taste it.

  • Oh my God, smoking.

  • Try three.

  • This one is pretty strong as well.

  • Okay, okay, okay, okay.

  • You can tell that my brain is not working as fast as normal.

  • Number 49 30 folks agree, but this one definitely has like a fruity taste.

  • Fruity five.

  • Number five is a lot lighter and I would say exponentially fruity er what do you think?

  • What do you think regular people will put it in their hand?

  • Your hands got in there.

  • Funny, what about the factory?

  • Much more brighter than number five.

  • No five is lighter.

  • You sure three is way heavier than five.

  • What you're saying?

  • Everyone can't drink it.

  • Yes, I think we got to the point where we have named all five of the drinks.

  • Right, so now let me know which one you think is the most expensive, most expensive.

  • Number two is gone, literally, it's 1999 30.

  • Fox, this is the most beer.

  • So here's how, here's how I would put it in order.

  • I had nine tails.

  • I had upright, arugula lococo and then he said nine tele fox lococo, upright beer.

  • Number 19.

  • Okay, right, right.

  • Number two Kaguta blank 2018.

  • I said upright, you can you can be a massive beer.

  • I am.

  • Oh the rules have monkey Monkey.

  • I had but I had upright Monkey as my first one.

  • So there we go.

  • Alright so I had real cocoa and he had upright.

  • He's probably last right to even say that.

  • So I mean we both got the first one in the last one.

  • Right here we go.

  • Alright, so this is the most expensive bottle of the nine tails.

  • How much do you think this bottle is worth Michael?

  • How much?

  • Yeah, it's pretty good.

  • There you go.

  • This is the most expensive beer in Japan, at least from what we can search on the internet.

  • Which one you like?

  • The best thing you can do with it because it has, that still has a fruity face.

  • It's still strong and it kind of like a mix between all, it's called strong ipod with this ship.

  • Just labor.

  • I think that's the one I would go with my favorite applied monkey usually drink could be only for drinking.

  • It's going to be my favorite.
