  • I was recently asked this question and the answer is it depends based on the situation.

  • So situation one, if the two roles are the exact same job title but they're just in different departments then yes, absolutely apply to both.

  • You can even use the same resume to apply to each job so that your skill set and experience will be consistent across both applications and you're maximizing your chances of getting at least one of the two jobs.

  • Now situation too is where you're interested in two jobs that are quite different meaning different job title and duties.

  • This is where I would say do not apply to both and this is because you're not going to look consistent to the employer and it could seem confusing as to what job you're a strong match for.

  • So start with one and if you don't get an interview for that one then go back and tailor your resume and apply to the second one.
