  • Here she comes for the intro.

  • Ok, so today I'm going to take you to my ultimate, all time favorite Seria.

  • It's here in Yamanakako. I've been to lots of Seria's, let me tell you,

  • And this is the best one yet.

  • [Life in Japan Theme Song]

  • In America, there's dollar stores, but in Japan there's “hyaku enstores, our one-hundred yen shops.

  • We've documented these stores before, but this is our first time featuring Seria.

  • How will it compare to other hyaku en stores?

  • In Japan, they have little dishes for everything and its just absolutely amazing

  • And I love it but I never use it because I never know which dish is for what.

  • But just looking at them is so much fun!

  • Look at all these!

  • Look at all these. How cute they all are!

  • Just, oh my! Look at over there.

  • I know some are for soy sauce and some are for wasabi and stuff like that. For dipping.

  • But the shapes are so cute.

  • Ok so for buying bento things,

  • Not only disposable but reusable, this is a fun place to go.

  • If you need proof that bentos, or pre-made lunches, are a big deal in Japan, just look at all the bento supplies for sale!

  • The ever important clips for open bags.

  • They have all kinds of cute ones.

  • Plus they have these ziplock bags that are just so cute. They look like things.

  • Look at that ziplock bag, it looks like a... It's a standing one.

  • Oh, interesting.

  • And these freezer bags.

  • I don't want to show my hair because I didn't brush it today in the morning. Its so crazy.

  • Oh my.

  • The kids love coming and exploring all the art supplies they can stock up on.

  • But we're getting a little ahead of ourselves!

  • Komakaku Notebook (individual sections)

  • Cool.

  • You can draw manga . Oh, very cool.

  • So I have to pack Joshua a lunch couple of times a week,

  • And these make the lunches so fun.

  • All these little toothpicky things you can put in their fruit or in their meatballs.

  • And then they have all the different types of decorations to put in their lunch boxes

  • And they have these little food cutouts that you can cut out like cheese in different shapes and make it super cute.

  • These are little sauce containers that you just squeeze them, fill them up with soy sauce or something and put them in their bento.

  • Amazing.

  • And then over here they have all the disposable cups that you can put fruit in or meat in or rice in or whatever you want.

  • It just separates everything and makes it super cute.

  • They are all themed. I mean they have all sizes.

  • And then moving on, you have your ice packs for your lunch bags.

  • Plus, all different types of lunch bags.

  • Over here you have all your mats that you can eat on if you are having a picnic.

  • You have cute ones and big ones and small ones and tiny little portable stools, and...

  • I mean, we are set!

  • You'd really be surprised the kind of things you can find at a hyaku en shop, and Ruth sure enjoys exploring the options.

  • Brings me joy.

  • These cooking sheets, they're wax paper, but they're all different colors and styles and they're great. I'm going to take that one.

  • Oh my goodness!

  • Look at how great! All these different themed wax papers.

  • Because when I give away cakes and stuff, this just adds a little extra chun-chun to the bag.

  • I just had thanksgiving and did not have a small ladle for my gradle (hahahaha).

  • A ladle for my gravy.

  • I have one now.

  • So you get into more coffee filters and little trays that are just so, so cute.

  • This is really pretty for placemats.

  • Oh, and socks. They have all these very cute themed socks.

  • And warm socks.

  • And for colors? One

  • Isn't this so amazing - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Amazing.

  • We like to separate our pencils,

  • And, there's only one box only but at this Seria, 5 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Whoa.

  • So 5 different types you can put in there.

  • Yeah. That's cool.

  • Cool, amazing.

  • When Joshua had his burn, I came here and bought a lot of my supplies here.

  • Like the gauze and the wraps because it's just so much cheaper than like buying it at a drugstore.

  • And they have very cute, look at these cute toothbrush covers, caps.

  • I should buy those for the kids.

  • I'm going to buy this. It's one for each kid.

  • And I'll buy those.

  • I'm not a big shopper, but I even come across the occasional product that I want, like this handy little towel.

  • It's going in.

  • They just have so much stuff its hard to look at it all.

  • They have all the craft section, all the cookie and cake-making section.

  • Oh, I like this.

  • Ok, the one thing about this store too is they have all these little bags for like cosmetics,

  • And then they have all your hair things,

  • But they also have things themed.

  • So, not in this aisle, but in the next aisle, there will be a whole section of hello kitty, or Mickey Mouse.

  • Oh see?

  • All cute little themed creatures.

  • They have little bags, and everything that matches.

  • The stickers for your notebooks.

  • Everything matches.

  • You know what I need? I'm going a little crazy.

  • Oh! They even have sisters here!

  • They even have sisters!

  • Oh my starts! How can you not just go crazy!

  • I do sometimes.

  • Control myself.

  • And then, I buy so many school things here.

  • Oh, look, these are cooking chopsticks.

  • I need a couple more of these just containers, because my kids can break these containers like no ones' business.

  • And here they have themed rice ball cover things.

  • You make your rice ball and you stick it in there, tie it off and it looks super cute.

  • Oh, they also have toys.

  • Do they work well? I'm trying to figure that out.

  • These are great stocking stuffers.

  • Do hyaku en stores excite you like they do Ruth?

  • What do you like to get here?

  • Storage bag. I need some more storage.

  • That's an amazing hamburger. And French fries.

  • The girls are going to buy their purchases with some of the money they got for the holidays, but are trying to work out a deal.

  • But there is going to be tax, so can you just pay 20 cents?

  • So I pay 200 yen and you pay 20 yen?

  • Hahaha, that is not how that works.

  • I know, but I have 200.

  • What are my little shoppers over here shopping for?

  • I don't know what she is.

  • Just looking to see what they have?

  • Are there any favorite things here that you guys like?

  • Yes. Yes? Like what?

  • I don't know.

  • Like organizing, just everything?

  • I don't know. She's looking for something. Is she.

  • She is.

  • Oh Anna, look!

  • I know what she is looking for. Oh that's too big.

  • This, this is all files.

  • Files and files . And it's just exciting.

  • The girls are excited over here.

  • When it comes to supplies for home, office and school, Seria has got you covered.

  • The hard decision is what particular item to go with.

  • I guess you could just go with all of them, since it's all so cheap anyway.

  • Black.

  • What did you find Anna?

  • Is that what you want? Like a container?

  • I know what I want but I can't explain it. You can't really find it?

  • If you can read this, then you don't need it.

  • Pencils. So cute pencils.

  • These are always cute things to give as gifts. Caps for your pencils.

  • And let's get some erasers. I'm buying the four of them for gifts.

  • These are my favorite pens. Whoa, those right there?

  • Yes, this jet stream. They just write so beautifully.

  • I do need to buy some more. I'm going to buy this black one and blue.

  • I need a black and a blue. I always seem to loose my pens.

  • And then behind you you have themed ziplock bags in different sizes.

  • Cute ziplocks. And these are great for cookies, if you are going to give away a cookie.

  • Christmas time = perfect.

  • If you need to grab some bait before going fishing, then you can.

  • And now here in the front is always the seasonal sections.

  • It's all Christmas.

  • Of course.

  • What's this?

  • Oh, it's a little jewelry light. That's cool.

  • You could put it up along different little things.

  • What is that? Christmas wax paper. (Actually it was little bags - oops)

  • Now the one thing about this store is you have to pay cash. You have to pay cash.

  • So you have to make sure you have money.

  • Have to have money, honey.

  • It's amazing how much stuff you can get without breaking the bank.

  • You've gotta love Japan's hyaku en stores!

  • Our purchases!

  • Oh yeah baby! Oh yeah baby.

  • How did it go?

  • Oh, it was very successful. I spent a lot of money. Bought a lot of supplies.

  • Probably half of it I didn't need, but hey, its what you do at Seria. And its the best one yet!
