  • episode 12 my God, the light makes me look so red.

  • Uh Good morning, It's A five AM.

  • And I have a work shift today I'm heading to Oklahoma which is right outside of Tokyo, It's almost two hours away so I need to wake up this early so I can get on the train at 7:00 AM.

  • Mhm.

  • Yeah, yeah Right, okay.

  • Mhm.

  • I am getting ready to leave for work, I usually don't leave this early, like I said this morning, I'm just getting my bag together and I'm about ready to get out the door, I usually don't go this far for work, but at my job we have something called trial lessons where the students get to try the lesson before they join the classes and that's what I'm doing today when it comes to navigating in Japan, it's a lot easier than you think there's a ton of signs in english and japanese, so it's easy to get to your destination.

  • I am going to use google maps, there's also an app called Japan transit, basically it tells you how to get wherever in Japan, it's a little bit more accurate, I think I still tend to use google maps, so I'm going to use google maps right now and I'm going to kind of show you how to get somewhere, we're going to start from a line that is towards a transfer point, so I'm gonna type in something that's not my station, okay, so as you can see on the screen um Toes, I line is one of the lines that I'm taking, so I'm gonna actually have to transfer a few times it tells you how much it is, it's about 720 yen to get there from the toes.

  • The line I'll transfer at Kodansha so you go all the way to dance to and then there's going to be signs everywhere telling you which uh, lying to transfer to.

  • So the line that I'm transferring to is the handsome online.

  • So you have to look on the signs that have like the purple icon with the Z on it.

  • It's hanzo Mon and you follow that sign to the platform, which is platform three.

  • Usually you can look at the sign on the wall to see what the next station is.

  • That's how I kind of can tell if I'm going the right way to the next station from Kodansha is hans Hermann and if I can see that on the sign then I'm going the right way.

  • Yeah, so I'm gonna take that all the way, look at this.

  • Isn't it crazy how many stations I have to go all the way to as amino um, as amino station you transfer, it's only a couple minute walk to the blue line.

  • So I have to transfer like three times.

  • This is my exact station.

  • This is kind of an idea of how to get somewhere and what I used to look to find how to get somewhere.

  • This is the first time I'm getting on a train on sunday at seven a.m. So we're gonna see what it's like.

  • Yeah, so I barely had breakfast because I was thinking of getting some Mcdonalds.

  • I know it's not the healthiest thing in the world.

  • I mean you get a mcmuffin without cheese that helps.

  • Probably not.

  • It's probably not as bad.

  • I mean it's probably not, probably not 6 58 am.

  • I'm ready to leave.

  • So let's go.

  • Okay.

  • I wake up every morning to catch the train into the city.

  • It was scary at first, but I got the hang of it quickly because there's so many signs directing you the right way.

  • Even if you don't speak japanese, the train staff can help you pointing at your phone or taking a screenshot of your location will help so you can show them which direction you're going.

  • This is one of those things you have to just push yourself to do and soon enough you're an expert.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Mhm.

  • Okay.

  • Yeah.

  • So there's literally like nobody here, it's like so empty because it's sunday.

  • Actually pretty relaxing.

  • Yeah.

  • Mhm.

  • I love navigating the trains because most of the time, once you get on it, you can relax, listen to music, do homework, whatever you need to catch up on life.

  • So I'm making my next transfer and I'm headed to the handsome online and you take the handsome online all the way to the next transfer.

  • I made it to platform three and I'm just checking to see how many stops I need to go to get to the next transfer so far.

  • I've been able to sit down on the train which is kind of nice sunday.

  • It's not so bad but during the weekdays it's really hard.

  • Mhm.

  • Yeah mm.

  • Mhm.

  • The order and respect people have for others during train rush hours is unbelievable.

  • Everyone lines up nicely and make sure the elderly and pregnant women are a priority.

  • There's even a women's only carriage but it's usually available from the morning till nine a.m. During the weekdays when transferring people stand on the left side of the escalator and if you're in a rush people walk down the right side of the escalator.

  • So remember that as a common etiquette thing in japan.

  • Is it like that anywhere else?

  • I'm not really sure.

  • I don't really understand is how people can like sleep on the train.

  • Like if I slept on the train, I panic because I would probably miss my stuff.

  • Yeah so I'm here.

  • I'm exhausted.

  • It took me about an hour and a half to get here.

  • I'm hungry so we're gonna go to Mcdonald's and just be kind of unhealthy today because that's what's going to happen and then I discovered that Mcdonald's is gone now I just finished breakfast and it was delicious.

  • I look horrible.

  • I'm so sorry it's like morning, I'm tired, I'm gonna go check out some lunch bento is to see if I can get something for lunch to eat during work.

  • Mhm mm.

  • Up to work.

  • Mhm It's that guy is wrapping, it looks like it's interesting Oh the day is done, I'm in the bathroom right now because I was changing, I am going to head to Taco Tamagawa because I was going to see cal at his new place but he's not doing super well so I understand um but I guess Ash said he wanted to take me to a cafe for my video so I don't know what it's going to be, but I like surprises and we'll see what it's like.

  • I had a class, a trial lesson today, the kids were crying in one of the classes like every single child and it was exhausting.

  • You have to expect those things when you teach here, like kids are gonna cry, especially if you teach kids um I'd like to talk a little bit more about that in another video.

  • I used a lot of energy today, burned a lot of calories which is good, it's good, it's all good.

  • Mhm Yeah mhm So I'm gonna go check out the mosaic mall over there because I've never actually been inside of it so much to do here, it's really interesting and they have a lot of festivals here and things like that.

  • Little busy, it's a sunday.

  • What?

  • Okay so I went in there for a second, I actually thought it was kind of cool but like there's a lot of high end shops in there so it wasn't as cool as I thought it was gonna be but now I'm just gonna head towards Ash because he's finished early so let's go.

  • So the thing you want to look at first is which line you need to get on the colors will help you with this.

  • In this case.

  • I need to take the blue line to as amino station from platform for the next is and that's the last top of this.

  • The next line I need to take is the den in Toshi line.

  • You will see signs directing you this way.

  • Once you get off the train signs are everywhere, help you further, you'll see the time and place.

  • The train is headed on your phone.

  • So once you're on your platform you can check the time board to make sure you're going the right way.

  • You can also check the written time board and map to see which direction the train is going.

  • I'm going to Taco Tamagawa and it is on this map.

  • Yeah, I miss you Even though I talk to you for like 10 minutes ago.

  • Oh so I made it to Taco Tamagawa and I'm going to wait for Ash.

  • There's like a lot of shopping and foods and restaurants and all sorts of things.

  • I never really actually explored this area but um maybe I'll do a little bit of exploring.

  • I don't know where he's at but I'm gonna text him right now.

  • I'm gonna see where he's at and yeah we're gonna go eat we're too fast.

  • Oh my God it's an official I see you jump.

  • Oh my God that's crazy.

  • It's actually really good lighting.

  • Yeah and the background looks like a dope.

  • Yeah.

  • Hey guys I have somebody to help me now.

  • Reality of Youtube where I have to go out and filmed by myself awkwardly holding my camera while everyone stares at me or what somebody it's so much easier.

  • Although I'm trying to get up get into the habit of filming by myself so it's worth it.

  • It's all worth it's all for you guys.

  • Look at the great reflections off this water, this is great.

  • The trains can be frustrating sometimes they'll be packed with people at certain times of the day.

  • You'll miss your train, you'll get off at the wrong stop.

  • But the one thing I love so much is the adventure between transfers and the beautiful world you have such easy access to.

  • Yeah.

  • Oh yeah Ash is making me walk.

  • Well my your name came out very michigan maybe when I'm really angry at the michigan comes out and me.

  • Ash is making me walk.

  • My my lips are really cold.

  • I can't talk the japanese driving course looks like.

  • That's so funny.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah mm guys.

  • It's Big boys.

  • I wonder what I've actually never been to a Jap.

  • Oh yes I have, I have been to a japanese big boys and it's not very good.

  • It's not bad.

  • It's like, it's not that you're blocking my view bus.

  • Had angry girl here, look at that big boy, big boy in America is so good.

  • It's like the best breakfast ever.

  • I wonder what's down here.

  • Yeah.

  • Okay, wow.

  • What the heck.

  • Whoa.

  • This is the campaign.

  • Whoa!

  • That's kind of interesting cafe soul tree.

  • Whoa, whoa.

  • It's like so old school.

  • Oh my God, Hi, I'm sorry I underestimated you.

  • Wow!

  • Leather goods and other stuff.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Oh my God, look at that.

  • That is so funny.

  • Look at that.

  • What is this?

  • This is so neat.

  • Look, look at this.

  • Oh my God, these drinks look so good.

  • So ash to each of this really cool cafe.

  • But like a lot of things have not been it a little worried about that.

  • But it's very aesthetically pleasing here.

  • Look at this.

  • Look at the case.

  • Nobody has filmed this before.

  • I'm always looking for places where nobody has a film like this is in an alleyway.

  • Like how did you find this place?

  • Yeah, I know, but you just typed in dark alleyways cafe where it's fantastic.

  • It's called sultry cafe.

  • And like they sell some like little leather things over there and like there's a bar, there's a cute little bar over there.

  • There's tons of drinks.

  • They have a ton to choose from.

  • And I got beer.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Yeah.

  • Okay.

  • I'm home And I didn't really film too much because it was cold and I just wanted to get home and I was just so tired.

  • So I just got home and I took off all of my makeup as usual.

  • And my skin looks horrible.

  • But you know, That's reality tired and tomorrow I'm going to work out again.

  • I've been working out every single day for at least 30-40 minutes.

  • Today was really fun.

  • I should trust Ashmore because he always tells me he's gonna take me somewhere and I never know where he's going to take me.

  • And I'm like, he blazed all we were gonna take me because I just want to take a video.

  • Okay.

  • He probably hates me because I'm just like complaining all the time and it takes me these really cool places.

  • And then I'm like, oh my God.

  • But this place had a lot of nuts and things.

  • So I had to be very careful.

  • But I ate a ton, which was really bad.

  • So that's why tomorrow is going to be an extra long workout.

  • That was my day.

  • That was how I navigate the trains.

  • The trains aren't as difficult as you think.

  • I know.

  • That was a lot of information and amazing.

  • Like super overwhelming.

  • But if tourists can come here and get the hang of the trains then you guys can too easy because there's signs everywhere and people are always willing to help this point to where you need to go and they will direct you.

  • There are some staff members that will literally leave their stuff station to help you find or take you to the place.

  • So everybody is so helpful here, you won't be lost forever.

  • There's way too many signs is way too many people to ask but get lost a little bit because to be honest, like Japan has so much to see.

  • So if you are lost and you're trying to transfer to a new train or whatever, you'll probably find something really cool along the way.

  • But I suggest that if you do come to Japan and you are working, try to take the train ahead of time.

  • Like take the train to your destination and practice practice doing it, go back and forth because that's what I did when I first started my job, I practiced getting on my bike, getting to the station, getting on the train, like I practiced all of that stuff to make sure that I could make it to work on time.

  • But it was a fun day and I enjoyed it a lot and I'm exhausted and I think I'm just going to going to bed early.

  • So I hope you guys enjoyed this video and if you have any questions or comments, please leave them down below.

  • I'm happy to answer as many as possible after a couple of days, I don't really answer as many.

  • So please try to get in those comments right away so I can read them and um interact with them and respond in whatever.

  • So I hope you guys enjoyed this video again and I'll see you guys in the next one.

  • Bye.

  • Mm.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah.

  • Mhm.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Yeah.
