  • Hi, I am going to Big Bear next week and I kind of wanted to show you what I am preparing to take on this trip.

  • I actually am not used to going on full long winter trips where I will be hiking in the snow.

  • So I had to do a little bit of research.

  • I'm also driving there.

  • So I have to do research on that as well because it is gonna be snowing.

  • That will be probably ice and snow on the roads.

  • So I had to prepare for that as well.

  • I'm going to show you what I am packing for my car and what kind of steps I've taken to prepare my car for this trip.

  • I'm going to show you extra things I am packing on this trip, things that I don't normally pack when I travel um, specifically winter gear.

  • And I'm also going to show you what I am packing for Zoe.

  • The first thing I'm going to touch on is the traveling Big Bear is about 2 to 2.5 hours away from Los Angeles.

  • And the reason why it's anywhere between that is depending on the route you take.

  • Um, there are a couple of different routes you can take to Big Bear and the one that we're taking is about the 2.5 hour drive.

  • So the one thing that I did have to order online before this trip, our snow chain, entire chain snow tire, change my car just has regular tires.

  • So, um, you know, check out the specs of my car and I purchased this on amazon It is um, it's pretty heavy but it is chains.

  • I don't know if I should take this out right now, but tomorrow I am going to practice putting this on the car because you don't want your first trial to be when you're on the road.

  • Uh, so you want to practice a little bit before.

  • Um, you actually tried to the area.

  • The other thing I'm preparing for my car is an ice scraper.

  • Um, I did contact, I'm staying at an Airbnb and I did contact the host and I wanted to make sure that you know the property had items that I might need.

  • So one thing was a shovel and the host did reply very fast and said that yes, don't worry, we have a shovel but you may want to bring an ice scraper for your car because we won't be able to provide that.

  • And she did high suggests that I bring that because there is um, in the forecast there's gonna be a lot of snow, big bear the week that I go.

  • Another thing I need to prepare for the trip is just a bag of food and water.

  • I have read that sometimes more quite often there there are accidents along the road on big bear.

  • So when you get stuck in traffic, you know, there's not gonna be a lot you can do, but just sit and wait and you might get hungry.

  • So I got this bunch bag and I got it at home goods.

  • It was, I think like $15.

  • Um so in here I have no some snacks, protein bars, nuts, some water in here, crackers.

  • And I also have um some ice packs.

  • This is actually ice packs from my dentist when I had my wisdom teeth removed.

  • And I just save them because I think they're great for you to throw in these little lunchboxes.

  • So yeah, so I am taking this on the road with me.

  • I'll probably make some sandwiches as well.

  • So that is another thing that I have prepared for the trip.

  • Okay, so now that I have kind of like the travel essentials out of the way, I kind of want to go into the extra things I'm going to pack for this trip that I don't know my pack on my other trips.

  • So I am going to be playing in the snow, hiking in the snow and the main thing I really wanted to make sure I had was good hiking boots for this now.

  • So I did a lot of research and I found that Adidas, their T rex line makes fantastic hiking shoes for the snow.

  • So, I got this pair right here, you can tell it has that really good track right there and it is waterproof and there's no laces.

  • So it's just like this is it for here.

  • Um It's very warm inside.

  • I'm really excited to try these out.

  • I've read a lot of good reviews about them.

  • Another thing I'm making sure to pack our waterproof clubs.

  • So I've got these, these are from Colombia.

  • I actually purchase these, I want to say like seven years ago, that time when I broke my wrist snowboarding, I never got rid of them.

  • I figured someday we'll probably wear them and here I am almost seven years later.

  • But these are gonna come in handy for when I make those snowballs to have snowball fights.

  • Was that another thing to pack that I don't normally pack on my travels is actual snow pants.

  • And again, these are snow pants that I bought seven years ago when I went snowboarding.

  • Have not more than since and I was so glad I still fit in them a little bit tight.

  • And of course, you know, hat you know, I think that's just the kind of standard for any trip.

  • I guess if I'm going somewhere called, not necessarily just for this trip.

  • Just thought I mentioned it since I had it in my suitcase and this is so cheesy.

  • But I got matching hats for me and Zoe.

  • This is on sale at Petco right after christmas and I had to get it.

  • It says, I love my human and the other one says, I love my dog and I think this was like $5 for both of them.

  • Okay, so the last thing I'm gonna talk about is what I'm bringing for Zoe.

  • Mm So if you've been watching our youtube videos, Crystal kind of showed her road trips essentials and her packing stuff when she was on the road driving from California to florida and florida to California.

  • And she bought this dog bag that was so convenient.

  • And when she was here in California we went a little, you know, side road trips.

  • She had this bag on every trip when we took our dogs with us and I was so jealous because it was so handy.

  • It was so well organized.

  • And here I was with my bag with like putting food in plastic bags and it was just so disorganized.

  • I hated it.

  • So I decided to get my own dog travel bag.

  • I got it on amazon and this is called the brand is called Lucky Tale Crystal.

  • Got one from a different brand.

  • I decided to get a different one size wise, it's about the same.

  • But what I really liked about this one was the side pocket here that has like a little poop bag dispenser.

  • I thought that was so um convenient if you are traveling with your dog and you're flying, it also has a sleeve here where you can put it on your suitcase.

  • So that is really awesome.

  • And there is also a mesh lining right here for extra stuff you want to put on the outside as well as a pocket here for water and there is also hooks here.

  • So you could carry it on your shoulder.

  • I took it off because I'm probably just gonna carry it like this and put it on my, I'm slipping on the handle of my suitcase.

  • The bag when you buy it comes with two food bowls.

  • Then if you go inside it's very roomy and right when you open it, there is a mesh pocket here and this is where I put her extra poop bags and her extra leash and collar inside.

  • Hi, there are two separate bags for food.

  • And what I like about this bag is that it has um a lining inside that keeps the food fresh.

  • And then the other bag, I put treats in there.

  • So there's a bunch of treats in this bag.

  • The only thing these bags don't come with is a food scooper.

  • So Crystal found this scooper on amazon as well.

  • So I had to get one too.

  • So it's very roomy in here.

  • I have one of her toys.

  • She likes having her toys on the drips and this ball and then also a quick dry towel.

  • This is her quick dry towel and there's still quite a bit of room in here.

  • So, if I wanted to bring more toys, I could um but I think that's gonna be enough because we're gonna be out playing in the snow most of the time.

  • Anyways, I don't know if dogs get really cold in the winter.

  • I'm assuming that they do.

  • So just in case I did get, well I didn't get it actually.

  • I borrowed it from my neighbor.

  • She let me borrow her dogs jacket.

  • So this is what Zoey's gonna wear if I feel like she's cold.

  • I also got her, I had a little while ago from Target to keep her head warm.

  • Um, she actually doesn't mind wearing this, which I'm surprised because usually she doesn't like wearing things on her head.

  • But you know, I wanted to kind of keep her warm just in case it's really, really cool.

  • So that's it.

  • That's everything that I'm preparing and taking on my trip to big Bear.

  • I hope what I'm showing you will help you on your trip.

  • And if you like this video, please give it a thumbs up.

  • And don't forget to subscribe to our channel until next time.

  • Bye.
