  • mhm I'm on another cross country road trip and I am going solo again with my dog kuma and You know I've been going on a lot of road trips.

  • Well last year in 2020 and this is my first one in 2021 but probably one of my last ones for a long time.

  • I went on several cross country road trips last year and now I am going home from California to florida.

  • So on this cross country road trip I started in los Angeles California and my first stop will be in Tucson Arizona.

  • And from there I am going to Fort Stockton texas.

  • Uh next is Lumberton texas which is very close to Beaumont texas, Next will be mobile Alabama and finally my home in Tampa florida as usual.

  • I made myself some road trip food.

  • So the same thing that me and can you always make our road trips as rice balls and japanese, fried chicken nuggets, which is Kadaga.

  • Yeah, yeah, got about eight minutes left on the drive almost a hotel McCoy.

  • Been a pretty good dr I actually made a lot of stops for restroom breaks this time, I don't know why but that Starbucks coffee that I drink this morning just went right through me and I just kept on having to go.

  • But uhh I did find this awesome app called, I exit.

  • So it'll tell you all the exits while you're using the app.

  • If you turn on the app, it'll show you where the exits are, it'll show you what gas stations, there are food, I mean it gets really detailed, It's definitely right by the interstate.

  • Yeah, here it is turn right then arrived yesterday you should get this interest.

  • Oh roll into the our troll down your window and have your ID ready and get to your room.

  • So this is my room.

  • Love the decor here is very cute and artsy.

  • Oh this ice bucket is so cute.

  • Here's the bathroom with their big logo on the shower curtain.

  • Oh yeah, this is very nice.

  • I'm impressed.

  • Hopefully the beds.

  • Nice too.

  • Huh?

  • Let's see.

  • Oh that feels pretty good.

  • They must be good here.

  • So lots of cool paintings around here and kind of like art installations.

  • I feel like that's really nice.

  • Ali way here they look like stars like plastic stars and like trees.

  • Not cool.

  • Cool.

  • Look it was just always want to go.

  • Mhm.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah.

  • Okay.

  • On day two of my drive and I'm still feeling pretty good.

  • I left to some very early this morning.

  • Why?

  • I leave at five but ended up leaving at 5 30 by the way if you need a place to stay in Tucson Hotel McCoy is great.

  • I really love staying there.

  • They're very pet friendly.

  • The room was awesome.

  • I got gracefully great shower friendly service.

  • Really awesome photo of with great paintings from local artists.

  • Awesome, awesome place.

  • So today I am heading to Fort Stockton.

  • The plan that when I get there I do wanna kind of explore the area.

  • There is a historic downtown in a four way.

  • I just wanted to check it out a little bit more this time because last time I was in Fort Stockton I didn't really do that.

  • I wanna be hitting lost crew system and that's where what a burger is.

  • So of course I gotta hit that up.

  • Last night I had some really great dinner at cu chi which is a japanese take out restaurant.

  • It was really great food.

  • I did remind me of japan, very authentic food and great service And if you want to take your dog with you you can because they have an outdoor area and it's take out.

  • So I took kuma with I'm about halfway through my drive.

  • Today's drive is about eight hours.

  • Uh I only have four more hours left so not bad.

  • So I stopped at this rest area um right before exit 139 in New Mexico.

  • And this is like a scenic view that I could stop here until I come out to.

  • Oh girl you see some hills in the distance there with the city we're in Las cruces.

  • All right.

  • Order my favorite chicken strips from what a burger.

  • The only thing about what a burger is.

  • It always takes a while to get the food because they make it fresh.

  • So it's great.

  • It's good food but just take some time.

  • Last time I stopped at the same Whataburger and they forgot my cream gravy.

  • They did the same thing again.

  • I'm glad I check all the time.

  • I'm so sorry.

  • Thank you ma'am.

  • You have a great day.

  • You too.

  • Yeah.

  • Looks like there's an inspection station in texas going eastbound and hearing that was my nervous face.

  • Thank you too.

  • It was very nice.

  • I thought the inspection stations were only going west but apparently going east.

  • You have one in texas.

  • Yeah, I like the from the building looks really nice.

  • We made it baby.

  • Right, thank you.

  • UMA's already enjoying the carpet here.

  • They built a nice little dog run area for the dogs.

  • Kuma is using it right now.

  • Otherwise it's just all dirt you can see there's a pet waste station there and there's the hotel So I'm not gonna have time to check out the historic fort because it closes at five and it's already for 45 so we only have 15 minutes.

  • So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to go see piscine.

  • Oh paisano Pete.

  • It's this huge roadrunner statue that's super iconic and Fort Stockton so figured actually at least do that and then kuma could go with me to and then maybe I'll be able to explore some other things like historic downtown along the way.

  • So going to go before the sun sets.

  • Mhm.

  • Alright here it is.

  • Here.

  • Is that python.

  • Oh Pete the welcome to Fort Stockton sign and then right next to right behind it is the historic Fort Stockton and gate sign there.

  • If you could see behind those trees don't you think?

  • Yeah, welcome to Fort Stockton.

  • Mhm.

  • Okay.

  • So it took some pictures with paisano Pete and yeah right next to it.

  • Is that historic Fort Stockton gates line which I really like now I think I'm gonna go check out the old jailhouse.

  • Alright.

  • Found the address is one on one with Gallagher street and it's only three minutes from here.

  • Turn right onto North Water Street.

  • Okay, do you want to go in here there?

  • It is a story for his quarters of a mile.

  • The destination is on your right the route.

  • Um this town you'll just see these signs um explaining the history of for something that's the old jailhouse.

  • Can I wanted to walk in this lovely park first There's a sign over there that says zero stone.

  • There are lots of historic landmarks around here.

  • All right here it is.

  • Historic old jealous number nine on the uh historic fort Discovery Built its first Jill in 1877.

  • Yeah, mm hmm.

  • Yeah I made it through san Antonio and Houston and now I'm less than an hour away from my final destination today at looking again, I'm pretty tired today because this stressful driving through san Antonio Houston more san Antonio Houston.

  • There's just a lot of traffic and lots of planes that I had to deal with san Antonio is way worse with their inner changes and I'm just confusing today.

  • I'm going to Lumberton texas close to beaumont texas.

  • And I am staying at a bed and breakfast with cuba turn left, then turn right.

  • Mhm.

  • Here we are.

  • What?

  • Well, there's a cat cat has a home up there.

  • Thank you.

  • Well, thank you so much.

  • Yeah.

  • So day four of my drive and now I'm in Louisiana.

  • Uh The book Nook Inn was great.

  • I loved meeting David and his wife Stacy.

  • The only thing for me about staying at a bed and breakfast.

  • This might be my last time staying at one with MS kuma because she loved getting oh trees from David so much that all night she just wanted to go out to the living room.

  • This is probably my last time staying at a bed and breakfast because she just thinks it's like her the whole place is in her house.

  • So she just wants to get out of the room and see everybody else but me today is my shortest drive out of all the days.

  • It's only six hours.

  • And I'm heading to mobile Alabama staying in downtown Mobile and at a hotel called the Admiral.

  • It's by the Hilton that's a historic hotel.

  • So I'm very excited to stay here.

  • I just always passed by it.

  • Stay downtown.

  • Will be you at the light left on Government Street.

  • I kind of have a historic look to it.

  • This building on the right here reminds me of a building in Pensacola actually called Seville.

  • A club that I used to frequent in college.

  • Here's the Admiral o check in.

  • Okay.

  • Scoring.

  • All right.

  • All right.

  • Probably masking going on.

  • Nice and modern.

  • Pretty large.

  • Not to space like they're working desk here.

  • This is all this stuff that I have to take in with me.

  • I actually do have a few more bags in the car but I didn't want to bring everything.

  • So this is the closest park that I found from the hotel.

  • Hold on.

  • Uh huh.

  • Yeah.

  • Okay, hold on.

  • Just trying to get all these squirrels where to go, where the squirrel go.

  • Yeah, this is the closest park I could find.

  • Uhh to the hotel.

  • It was about a five minute walk, cooper, riverside park, Nice, lovely park with lots of benches and a water view out there.

  • Right, mm hmm.

  • Well today is my final day of driving.

  • I am so excited to finally be at home.

  • I think I've got like it's got three hours left on my drive.

  • Yeah, I'm just not that I'm over the drive.

  • I'm just ready to be home.

  • I think I miss, I miss my place and I miss my bed.

  • I think puma does too.

  • I'm sure she's tired of being in the car every day.

  • Although she likes road trips will be almost actually really nice.

  • I liked it.

  • It was very clean down there.

  • And the downtown mobile area.

  • I like that.

  • A riverfront park that they had.

  • So I'm on I 10 still but going to be transitioning into I 75 south soon And then from there I think I only have like 2.5 hours left and I think I'm gonna make one last stop at busy.

  • Bee's to use the restroom and get something to eat, fill up my car with gas also take out and that'll be it.
