  • Hey everybody, Welcome to the Japan Post office here in cuBA she that I go to quite often and I just asked them all about the package situation going on here.

  • Let's go outside here.

  • How you doing everybody?

  • Yeah, so I've just been notified by Japan post uhh that international packages being sent from Japan are no longer being accepted for small packets to the United States.

  • Australia and to Canada, there are certain situations where packages are not able to be sent to Canada now and this just happened today.

  • Apparently I put a link in the description.

  • If you'd like to look at the notification, the alert from Japan post on this information, you can go and check it out.

  • The link is in the description of this video.

  • So I went into the nice ladies in here at kobayashi and they made me a little graph here.

  • So this is the current situation to the Usa Canada and Australia small packet and she was so nice to put a little small packets damp on there uh to the United States and Australia is not available to be sent, which is going to hurt my, our Kickstarter project, we're going to try to find a way around that.

  • But E M.

  • S, which is a faster delivery service is available to the United States but it's not available to Canada and Australia.

  • So basically Australia packages are right now suspended.

  • Canada is okay for small packet and the United States is okay for E.

  • M.

  • S.

  • And it's super confusing.

  • I understand because I'm trying to get my head around, wrap my head around this as well.

  • Now according to the ladies at the post office, I'll be able to send the postcards for our Kickstarter project from Nagano tomorrow.

  • Just fine postcards and letters are not impacted by this, but packages are and this is crazy.

  • So hopefully these postcards that I said to Patreon supporters about three weeks ago do arrive.

  • I just know that they once again reminded me that the United States and Australia packages are super slow right now.

  • So if you haven't received your postcard yet for last month, it is on the way, they assured me just give it a little bit more time.

  • There's the symbol for the post office right there.

  • This is kill Bush's main post office.

  • Um, it is quite worrying.

  • So I wanted to show you what some of the options that you have if you're trying to be sending.

  • I think it's okay here trying to be sending packages to packages to the United States and Canada for christmas.

  • This is sort of a big deal because I have packages I want to send, not just to my supporters on Patreon but also to, to family members living in these places around the world.

  • Check out um, what your options are.

  • So for the United States, United States here, this is the list for E.

  • M.

  • S, which is international speed delivery.

  • Um, it's separated by weight here on the left side and then region off on the top.

  • The black boxes there.

  • The box one is asia Box two is oh Sienna uh in Australia box three is uh the next box is Eur europe and the box to the right all the way is south America and uh africa.

  • So we're just gonna look at Oh that that also oh sienna here.

  • The second box also has the United States.

  • Australia New Zealand are all in the same zone here.

  • So for 500 g.

  • Um it costs 2000 yen to send E.

  • M.

  • S.

  • Which is about 20 bucks.

  • But from june of 2021 there's an extra 400 yen surcharge.

  • I don't know for what.

  • So the price comes down to $24 to send E.

  • M.

  • S.

  • To the United States up to 500 g.

  • If you want to send a kilogram it's gonna cost closer to $37.

  • 3700.

  • And right there my finger is not long enough to reach there right there in the center of your screen.

  • That's what that price means.

  • And you can do a screenshot of this and get an idea basically the package that I usually send her between 507 100 g.

  • So it's gonna cost anywhere between 24 to $30 to send them to the United States.

  • Which is crazy but we have to find a way to do it to to Canada, you don't have E.

  • M.

  • S.

  • So you have to send it small packet which is actually cheaper.

  • And the majority of packages are sent that way.

  • Just weird that they don't have E.

  • M.

  • S.

  • Now E M.

  • S before I get to Australia, let me talk about E M.

  • S E M.

  • S is slower than small packet to the United States.

  • I've been told meaning packages that were sent from Osaka according to a friend of mine that at a tracking number, the tracking number was still in Osaka going to the United States for three weeks.

  • The package didn't even leave Japan and eventually it took five weeks to get this destination at double the price for E.

  • M.

  • S.

  • So I want you to consider E.

  • M.

  • S.

  • Not being super speedy at least not from Osaka.

  • I haven't had any friends send E.

  • M.

  • S from Tokyo.

  • But the package situation in Japan is uh, to north America is is really, really tough right now.

  • They said that I could send it by sea mail and I started smiling because I almost already know that See email from Asia going into the United States is backed up for like 3-3, weeks.

  • So basically there's a shortage of toys and all sorts of equipment.

  • The United States because of the female and the trucking situation in the United States.

  • So all of the situations circumstances for logistics in the United States is impacting us here in Japan which is I think pretty, pretty sour at the holiday season.

  • So for Australians, I don't know what to do marty buddy, help me here.

  • I don't want to send the packages see mail because I know it takes like two months minimum but that might be sooner than than these packages could be delivered if I said if I wait so I might have to send november's packages by female to Australia and then see what happens in december, which really stinks.

  • I don't know what other choices I have.

  • D.

  • H.

  • L.

  • S D.

  • H L.

  • Is faster and cheaper than VMS right now for us a in order to send DHL you need to have an account and DHL is not cheaper from Japan unless you have a corporate account and I do not have that.

  • It is not cheaper.

  • Um Federal Express not cheaper.

  • It's ridiculously expensive.

  • DHL ups, they're all um, out of the price range of me.

  • I've already asked unless somebody has a corporate number or in Japan that allowed me to send me my package is through.

  • There's give me a sweetheart deal.

  • It's gonna be really tough and this is especially concerning for the Kickstarter project for those that backed now we, this news just broke.

  • I just found out about it a couple of hours ago and I've been scratching my head and talking to people what we can do for that.

  • So I'm not sure right now.

  • Um, uh, this could be a situation where it's just during the holidays and things return back in january, but I don't want to sit on his package until january nor do I want to send it by sea mail because we had some hits and misses were packages did not arrive because of the, it just took too long or were lost and I'd say about a dozen envelopes are ripped open upon delivery.

  • Uh, I guess email is kind of rough in the winter.

  • So we'll find a way we'll find a way to, to resolve this.

  • But I think for if you're an expat and you're living in Japan, you're living in, in in Japan and one innocent packages to family members or relatives or, or people that live in the United States Canada and Australia.

  • It just got a lot harder.

  • Let's get a lot harder.

  • Um, I can wait until next year.

  • SIA, thanks so much for that.

  • I don't, I want to find a way around this.

  • So we're gonna work that out just to reiterate right now.

  • This is a graph that I was received from the post office.

  • Um, small packet to the USA and Australia is now off, but it's okay to Canada.

  • Ems is available only to the United States.

  • Australia now has a no delivery zone and I still have um, packages to send to India and Saudi Arabia and other places where we do have only in Japan supporters that I have not been able to send for over a year now and uh, I hope that the situation changes.

  • But I really wanted to update you, especially the expats that are here living in Japan that it's really difficult to send the packages right now and it's going to cost an arm and a leg.

  • E.

  • M.

  • S.

  • Megan is uh, cox I speedo uh you bean, which is uh express mail service.

  • I think E.

  • M.

  • S would be express mail service I believe.

  • I don't know if it's only in Japan but E.

  • M.

  • S.

  • I never heard that in the United States before but it's like the fastest option for international deliveries but it costs an arm and a leg.

  • Just, I don't know why.

  • I'm not sure why that that Canada doesn't have E.

  • M.

  • S.

  • But has small packet and why the U.

  • S.

  • Has small has PMS but not small packet.

  • It's kind of confusing.

  • E.

  • M.

  • S.

  • Is available in Korea.

  • Maybe it's a, it's an asian thing.

  • I'm not sure come by that.

  • I mean maybe it's just in this region of the world.

  • I hadn't heard of VMS in the United States.

  • We have UPS uh, USPS Fedex DHL which is the detail is the deutsche german males service.

  • So I'm in front of the kobayashi post office, you can see cuba she right there.

  • Ladies are really nice in there giving me information.

  • I asked them dead on.

  • I said, look, I got packages to send what are my options and and she gave me this piece of paper so we have to find a way around this.

  • If you have some ideas leave me a comment in the video below.

  • I really do appreciate this uh express mail service.

  • Yeah, thank you.

  • Raymond tomorrow I'm gonna be heading to Nagano in the morning with Connie and leo to go to the fireworks project.

  • I'm gonna put this out of my mind.

  • Um postcards and packages.

  • We'll deal with that when I get back.

  • So for the next 48 hours I'm gonna be on the road traveling looking at the beautiful autumn leaves that haven't changed here in Japan there in Tokyo but I'll take you with me down again tomorrow it's a postal suspension for packages to the Usa Canada and Australia.

  • There's a link in the description.

  • If you want to know more Japan post's uh post notice board is in english.

  • So you don't have to speak japanese in order to read the updates I'm saying like it's an urgent thing because for a lot of expats here it is a dilemma now on what what can you do to get those packages, especially Australians.

  • Alright everybody thanks so much.

  • That's all I had big money for the post office Indeed.

  • And again this probably has a lot to do with the truck, truck driver shortage and just the logistical nightmare that has been, I don't know driven by this pandemic and gosh, I hope we can get back.

  • That's a beautiful shadow that pole in the middle left.

  • Mhm Yeah, I hope we, I hope we can get a little bit better Uh service starting in 2022 and things return back to normal but right now it just seems post is going to be a little bit rough for the next two months at least and after the holidays perhaps a mail services will restart.

  • I was surprised that that small package service had restarted to the US anyways but I guess.

  • Mhm I guess we'll just have to wait and see now but for the Kickstarter project I'll update the project tomorrow.

  • By the way if your Kickstarter supporter make sure you send me your address for the postcard because I'm sending that tomorrow and I'm printing out the labels as soon as I get home.

  • So if you haven't sent your survey in which is probably in your spam folder, please send that to me right away.

  • I need that to send the postcards tomorrow from Nagano, give me your address.

  • All everybody have a good day.

  • Have a good night.

  • See you from CUBA She's post office.
