  • We've passed through the whole process to re-enter Japan,

  • including everyone testing negative for COVID 3 times and installing apps on our phones that track our positions.

  • Now we are required to stay at home for 2 weeks before resuming normal life here in Japan.

  • What is it?! Should Mommy open it?!

  • We'll see what it is, it might be my groceries.

  • Might not be.

  • Yes, we're back home here in Japan! And now have 2 weeks of quarantine.

  • Look at this hair, I need to cut this!

  • Our food has been delivered, right to our door.

  • And Momma-chan, are you making lunch?!

  • Yes, at 9 AM, but we are hungry!

  • Yummy, yummy, yummy! Lunchtime at 9 in the morning!

  • Before we left for America we put together a Lego Mario

  • And now that we're back we're putting together the biggest Lego Mario that there is at the moment

  • And Joshua paid for it!

  • That's right! Joshua paid for it. How much was it?

  • ¥10,000

  • Joshua paid for it with the money he... I got ¥10,000!

  • Number 1! Whoa, look at it! We have 11—

  • 11, was it 11 different packages? Yeah, 11.

  • This thing is huge, huh?!

  • OK, and so it begins.

  • There it is - tap it. Yeah!

  • And 3, 2, 1 [snap]

  • The kids all received money from their grandparents when they were back in the States,

  • so Joshua decided he wanted to buy the Lego set of his dreams: Bowser's Castle.

  • It was the perfect project for quarantine, but we miscalculated how long it would take to finish.

  • Yeah, there's all the pieces that we finished... Number 4!

  • OK Joshua, we got this one together, let's see what does Mario do?

  • Yeah! There you go!

  • Look at this! Turn it! Show how it works, Becca! Isn't that awesome?

  • OK, I think we're building King Boo now.

  • We are because King Boo is really white.

  • And then he's going to go on top of this...

  • Yeah, he's going to go right here and hang off.

  • OK, King Boo is up on his stand, and Joshua, you're the Mario guy.

  • Got like a drawbridge that we're building on

  • Meanwhile, Momma chan was busy downstairs with another huge task: unpacking.

  • She was working, but now... I'm all unpacked.

  • You're all unpacked?! All the suitcases are put away.

  • What?!! Wow! You were productive!

  • Well, back to Mario!

  • We have two more after we open number 9. Everything is really coming together!

  • With some really coollike this is going to spin and hit those things. Yeah

  • We are getting close to the finish!

  • Look at that, number 10! Do the honors

  • He's looking mean! This Bowser machine is looking mean!

  • We're getting close to the end! Becca is putting together what we assume is the shell.

  • There! Did you get it?

  • Got it!

  • Our massive construction project was nearly complete, and it was only day 1 of quarantine!

  • And now it's timethis hair is just crazy, out-of-control big

  • I've been looking forward to this: time to cut the hair.

  • I've got a home cutting kit like this and I love it.

  • There it is! All cut, shaved, nice and clean.

  • It sure does look nice outside. It sure does look nice.

  • It's popcorn time with the new Stir Crazywe've been needing one!

  • It's the Bowser Lego Mario set, you've been wanting this for a long time,

  • And now Mario is going to take to the levelhere we go!

  • First, he gets rid of the fireball at the entrance!

  • Yes! Oh!

  • Then he jumps over. Oh good, he's getting rid of all the enemies and the fireballs

  • Whoops! That one got away!

  • It takes a little extra work to get that one.

  • But Joshua makes quick work of it.

  • Oh- then we go here

  • There's an extra time meter

  • Oh, he goes over there

  • He got coins? He got a star! Oh that's perfect, he can take on King Boo.

  • Here he goes, taking out King Boo!

  • Alright- oh yes!

  • Oh, we're at the last level. We got Bowser Jr out of the way

  • Now, there comes Bowser! Oh!

  • Come on Mario, work it, work it!

  • Oh boy, ten hits!

  • Oh good, and he finishes the level!

  • Mario number one! Whoa Dude, awesome!

  • One day down, thirteen to go.

  • Last night Joshua and I got to bed about 7:30 PM, we really did well.

  • But the girls went to bed at like 5:00PM, 5:30PM, 6:00 PM, so they've been up for a while.

  • Let's see just how long.

  • Well hello ladies!

  • Good morning! How long have you been up? From 1 AM

  • From 1?! 1-ish

  • 1-ish AM!

  • Sarah and I slept earlier than Anna

  • Yeah- And Daddy and Anna?

  • And Daddy and Joshua.

  • So Ruth and Becca went back to bed and look who came up then...

  • Right? When they went to bed, Joshua got up.

  • Oh! You're a pro now, Dude.

  • Yeah, and then you can do this.

  • I'm going to do it like that.

  • It's day 2 of being back, and the kids are back busy doing homework now, getting ready to go back to school in a little less than 2 weeks.

  • Back to school work, good job, guys!

  • OK, at 9 in the morning you leave your house...

  • At one in the afternoon (speaks Japanese) you came back.

  • So from the time you left, to the time you came home, how long was that?

  • Well the kids have 2 weeks before they can go back to school,

  • But because of Corona, the start of school has been pushed back and they only have half days

  • So fortunately our kids are not missing much school because of our trip.

  • Yeah, homework! No! Homework!

  • Even Bowser had to do homework, I'm sure.

  • No. No?

  • His homework is to play.

  • No, no, I think Bowser doesn't do his homework because he's a bad boy.

  • That's right, he's bad so he didn't do his homework.

  • I bet Mario did his homework though.

  • He helps Peach! That's right!

  • Ah, thank you Mario!

  • And I think Bowser Jr did it a little bit because he's a little better than his dad.

  • So have you got your call yet today?

  • Hmm, not yet.

  • But they call me everyday with a FaceTime call

  • So I have to show them all four kids and show them that I'm in my house

  • But they change the time of the call, so I never know quite when it's going to be...

  • But it's everyday.

  • Not only do we receive video calls, but we have to report our health condition each day,

  • filling out a survey and reporting our location at random times throughout the day.

  • They want to make sure you are COVID free and staying home!

  • Day 3 quarantinewe're starting to get a little more bored now.

  • Right Joshua? Even Joshua came up with a song

  • I don't know / I don't know / I don't know what to do, oh no

  • Oh no no / Oh no no / Yeah ha!

  • Are you guys watching Paz Kids? Yes

  • We keep busy by exploring all the different ways there are to have fun while stuck at home.

  • Did you reset Animal Crossing? Yes

  • Anna, I think that other hair is best. Oh, how cute!

  • This is Joshua

  • Soon we received some news that was very good for us, even if the girls weren't so excited

  • We're going to do onlinebut it's only one class.

  • It's only one class online.

  • OK, so they have the option of doing just online class until the 10th! That's awesome!

  • It's only one class...

  • It's only one hour, but you have homework.

  • Yeah, I already know what my homework is, the teacher told me.

  • Ok, it might be different, because they weren't planning on doing just online, everything has changed.

  • So don't assume you know everything, ok?

  • I think I do!

  • I think you don't yet!

  • Mother knows best!

  • No- it's "Mother knows best!"

  • On Rapunzel! Remember that song! But let me tell you what!

  • I have the best friends...

  • Seki Yoshiko san is helping me so much!

  • And I'm helping Mommy... Thank you Yoshiko san!

  • And I'm helping Mommy translate, oh!

  • What's going on here?

  • Getting online, but there's only 5 people, no, 4 kids waiting,

  • Nobody's showing their face, so I'm just playing the piano.

  • Oh, you're waiting for class to start? Oh, sure enough.

  • Over here, Anna's getting her class going...

  • It does not work... Her camera doesn't work.

  • Oh! Do you need some daddy help?

  • Momma's the go-between-everybody

  • Make sure everyone's on online school.

  • And Sarah too, right? Everyone's on.

  • Sarah's in there? Yes, Sarah's in there.

  • When you've been quarantined as long as we have, you have to come up with games that keep you entertained — like this one!

  • 3, 2, 1

  • After nearly two weeks in quarantine, we had our routine down pat but were more than ready to be done

  • So I put all my stuff down here that I don't use right now

  • Anna's in school over here too. Oh my goodness!

  • We're nearing the end of our quarantine, but we are looking forward

  • And we have some meetings online.

  • At least we've been able to do most of it online.

  • But we are looking forward to getting out againoh boy!

  • Joshua's the only one who can't go to school yet

  • Everyone else can go online

  • Yep, but not me. But not you.
