  • industries tied to tourism may see an uptick. Now, inflation is a key focus of this week.

  • A widely watched inflation metric, the consumer price index, is forecast to show prices increased

  • in July by half of 1%. That's pretty rapid pace and it leaves the change from a year

  • ago at 5.3% well above the Fed's target. Last week's jobs report shows the economy

  • is making substantial progress on jobs clearing a path for the Fed to announce a slowdown

  • in bond purchases later this year and in response bond yields may move back up. Data this week

  • is likely to show China's economy is stabilizing and not crashing in contrast to the fallen

  • Chinese stocks in recent weeks. New regulations in bear markets in China are not uncommon

  • and the recent decline could be an opportunity for investors with a high risk tolerance.

  • Speaking of regulation, the SEC chair seems to plan an aggressive cryptocurrency regulation

  • effort. In a speech last week, Gary Gensler said there's not enough investor protection

  • in theWild Westof cryptocurrency. Look for the agency to propose new rules late

  • this year or early in 2022. The new sheriff in town could mean the wild ride for coins
