  • abandoned buildings are everywhere in Japan, they're almost commonplace, but entire abandoned villages are something different altogether, some incredibly tiny and filled with reminiscence of the past scattered across the ground.

  • More often than not.

  • Unsurprisingly difficult to access passing through this tunnel, there's a road to the left that you almost miss without coming to almost a complete stop.

  • I wrote that isn't used anymore.

  • A road to a world from decades ago.

  • Mhm.

  • All right.

  • So this is something that's incredibly rare.

  • You'll only find this out in super, super countryside areas like this.

  • I believe it's red K to buckle and because there are no police stations or police boxes out here, if you have a complaint or a problem, that's not a major emergency, you would actually write it down, put it on here and when the police make their rounds they would collect it from the box.

  • This here represents the entrance to this village.

  • So let's go check it out.

  • All right, so you can actually see one of the houses right there and I love these purple flowers right here as if almost right in the middle of nowhere, right beside the abandoned house.

  • Let's set up there.

  • Yeah, yeah.

  • Mhm.

  • From the clothing and shoes to the bicycles and Children's toys, telephones, everything.

  • It really paints a picture of like there was life here before they just completely abandoned it.

  • This particular village is actually quite small, so we're gonna walk this way and check it out.

  • I wonder if the places are even safe enough to go inside.

  • Yeah, the power.

  • Yeah.

  • Okay.

  • Mhm.

  • This particular abandoned village is in the mountains of an area called Chichibu, which is just about two hours or so north of time.

  • I miss doing abandoned stuff and that was north of Tokyo.

  • Is that sentence.

  • I was going to finish the last two years.

  • I've done entire sets of adventures seeking it, either creepy or abandoned places.

  • But last year, when I joined chris for journey across Japan to be the cameraman for that and I don't want to touch anything.

  • He shot the entire thing in six K.

  • But then uploaded in in four K.

  • And I kind of teased him about that recently on twitter and then he retaliated by uploading a video in eight K.

  • But this video basically this entire scene here has been shot in 12 K.

  • On the black magic Ursa 12.

  • You know what I'm gonna, I'm gonna give chris a call where I put my bag, Hey chris, how's it going north?

  • How you doing mate?

  • Long time they see.

  • Well it's only been a few weeks.

  • How you doing?

  • Yeah, I'm not doing too bad.

  • I just wanted to check in and see how those uh those eight K videos are going.

  • The eight K videos.

  • Where do I begin?

  • Their super tough to render file size is absolutely massive.

  • I mean, the storage alone is gonna cost a fortune.

  • Give Bill Gates a run for his bloody money.

  • Plus I only have a four K monitor so it feels a little bit like overkill.

  • Anyway, how are you doing?

  • What's up?

  • Well, you know, I'm just gonna go ahead and pretend that I didn't hear any of that because I just picked up the black magic Ursa 12 K cinema camera casa, A small fortune worth every penny.

  • Oh, the 12 K.

  • That's great.

  • Yeah.

  • You know Youtube only lets you upload I think to a K.

  • Right, Am I right?

  • Am I wrong?

  • Okay.

  • Think of you still there.

  • We lose the connection.

  • No, no, we're still connected.

  • Um You know, I, I actually, I need to, I need to get going so wait are we still hanging out next week on the yeah sorry phone call.

  • Phone call gotta go where your phone is ringing, yep.

  • Okay love you too.

  • Bye bye.

  • All right.

  • Oh yeah by no I'm good luck with the 12K.

  • Thing.

  • I'm up it sure if I get back there on time milk.

  • Yeah.

  • Mhm.

  • Mhm.

  • Yeah me.

  • Yeah.

  • Mhm.

  • As much fun as it was to shoot with this.

  • This is the definition of overkill.

  • I was a huge thinking of my friends over black magic for lending it to me.

  • There's by the way there's no not awkward way to hold this actually to learn how to use davinci resolve to edit this.

  • When I felt pretty good about it was the only way that I'd be able to smoothly and safely render it and export it into 12 K.

  • Chris.

  • Wasn't kidding when he says it's overkill and file sizes our B and here you are probably watching it on your smartphone and I'm just like 12 K.

  • But I figured this would be the perfect space for this week's video.

  • Considering that As I release this, we are off to shoot journey across Japan three on the abroad in Japan Channel.

  • I will link that at the end in case you're one of the three people who doesn't and that was a monkey.

  • I don't know if that came in the audio, but they're like, they're mocking me in the forest for they are getting closer to that was close, you know what?

  • We're gonna pack it up and I'll see you guys again real soon.

  • I think we're all surprised that I managed to return it without breaking it.

  • Well, I haven't returned it yet, but I think I'll be, you know what let's just say.

  • I did also.

  • I just want to take two seconds and appreciate the fact that the peak design carbon tripod has actually managed to hold this camera the entire How incredible is that.

  • Look how tiny this, this is a strong tripod and I'm sure they're going to be a couple of you are wondering.

  • Well, what's, That's the point of a 12K camera anyway, who would need that?

  • Well, one of the greatest advantages of the 12 K camera is that it allows you to crop into the image and maintain quality but still have everything else in the image.

  • And admittedly this scene was just for me, I've kind of always wanted to do this.

  • So who this place was.

  • Cool.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah, yeah.

  • Mm.
