  • Hey, guys.

  • Came down here.

  • Welcome back to my channel.

  • I'm sorry.

  • I've been gone for so long.

  • As you can see, I'm in an empty room in my apartment, which you can all probably guess that.

  • Yeah, I've moved out.

  • So I'm very happy to have a new fresh start.

  • So because I've moved out of this apartment, I've been gone for about a week.

  • I really wanted to give you guys a full empty apartment or to show you guys where I lived for the past two years.

  • I'm also going to be talking about the prices, the rent for this apartment.

  • Why we chose it at the end of the video.

  • So without photo do, let's start the tour.

  • Here is the kitchen and living room.

  • And this is what you see when you first entered the apartment.

  • So as you can see, it's pretty spacious and has a lot of room.

  • The kitchen is quite large.

  • I think I really love this island because it makes things so much easier when you're cooking.

  • Luckily, the apartment came with a fridge and a washing machine, so we didn't have to buy our own.

  • So we save some money there.

  • The stove is pretty standard.

  • But I was so happy to find out that we had gas stoves.

  • I don't really like those induction stoves.

  • I much prefer gas.

  • We have an oven.

  • The storage space in this kitchen was actually quite decent, but I found that it wasn't enough, especially when I started baking inside the country.

  • This is where the microwave goes and yet lots of space in here and in these drawers.

  • This is where our cutlery goes.

  • And then I used to put my pots and pans plates inside here.

  • This is one of my favorite things in the kitchen.

  • This pantry.

  • I love it so much, So much space to put all my herbs and spices.

  • I have a dishwasher.

  • I actually never really use it that much, but it's there, and it's handy when I needed it.

  • Now one of the main things that drew us to this apartment was this storage room.

  • I have a lot of stuff, so I need a lot of space to store it.

  • So this room was perfect for that.

  • Then, next to the storage, we have the laundry area.

  • We've got a washing machine and a dryer.

  • I actually never, ever touched the dryer.

  • We usually just hang stuff ourselves.

  • Just let it dry naturally.

  • But yeah, this all belongs to landlords.

  • So it was great that we didn't have to spend money on it.

  • So this here is the living area.

  • Now I look at it, it's quite spacious, but when we had furniture in here, we didn't have enough room to put a dining table in, unfortunately.

  • Um, but yeah, let's go outside of the balcony.

  • One thing I loved about this place was a view like, Look at this, guys.

  • We have a city view.

  • So as you can see, we lived right in the middle of the city, and it was great.

  • Um, you can see down there.

  • That is George Street.

  • You can see the trams sometimes.

  • Yeah, it's very, very convenient.

  • This area outside was quite nice.

  • I never really went outside that much because it was quite dusty because it's in the city.

  • And I'm like, highly allergic to dust.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah.

  • Now going back inside to the left.

  • This was our bedroom.

  • So we were thinking of using the on suite as the main bedroom, but we realized that if we use this as a computer room, it would heat up way too much and we get too hot because the sun is quite strong inside this bedroom.

  • So, yeah, we decided not to do that and put our bed in here instead.

  • It is pretty small, but look at the view.

  • Guys love it.

  • It's so amazing.

  • This is the closet.

  • So I had a lot of space.

  • I had a chest of drawers in there, but I moved up to my new apartment, but yeah, there's a lot of room inside here.

  • It was just perfect for me.

  • The draws here also came with the apartment, So yeah, it was really handy to have.

  • I love having draws.

  • I can organize my clothes better.

  • And there was this little area here where we just put a mirror and, you know, ironing board.

  • This is the bathroom.

  • So here's a shower.

  • It's quite small.

  • I didn't mind the size, but what I didn't like was that there was no door.

  • So water would, like, split out when we shower.

  • We had a bath mat there.

  • Yeah, it would always get soaked.

  • So we had to pull it back a bit.

  • But besides that, everything else is great.

  • I love how much storage that is in this bathroom.

  • So you guys know me.

  • I have, like, so much skincare.

  • So this was perfect for me.

  • So see, that guy's the amount of storage in this bathroom was insane.

  • I actually filled up most of these shelves towards the end.

  • Um, yeah.

  • I had to get rid of a lot of stuff because yeah, I tend to hoard skincare.

  • Right.

  • Moving on.

  • This is the second bedroom.

  • Now, we use this as a computer room.

  • So we had the computer and my makeup table here.

  • We wanted to use this room as a computer room because it was darker and it wouldn't hit up as much apartments.

  • Actually, pretty warm, because it's quite high up.

  • We have a second balcony, To be honest, I don't know why we have a second balcony.

  • We never went out here because if he's not that gray and I just used it as a storage.

  • So put suitcases there, but yeah, this room is also pretty spacious.

  • This is Eric's closet.

  • It's a lot smaller than my closet, but he doesn't have as many clothes as I do, so it was perfect for him as well.

  • So the closet is a lot smaller.

  • And as you can see, we left the chest of drawers in there because we didn't need it.

  • It looks really good in that it fits perfectly.

  • This is the on suite bathroom, and I'm gonna be honest with you guys.

  • I use this as a storage.

  • I didn't see the point on using two showers because it was only me and Eric in this department.

  • And using both showers means more cleaning.

  • So, yeah, we also have a lot of storage in this bathroom once again.

  • So believe it or not, this bathroom is filled with stuff.

  • I also had a bathtub, which is really cool as well.

  • Now, we did have a swimming pool.

  • It was raining the day I filmed, so I didn't go into swimming pool.

  • But we had a nice view of the city from the pool, and yeah, I mean, I didn't really use it that much.

  • To be honest, we had a nice barbecue area.

  • Um, you know, I used to come down once in a while, but I really use it that is my empty apartment tour in the place that I lived in for two years.

  • So I'm now going to talk about the costs and the location and why I chose this apartment.

  • So the cost.

  • This apartment was almost $1000 a week to rent, and that was pre covid.

  • So after Copa, we actually got a little bit of a discount.

  • But yeah, in Australia, they charged rent by week, so $1000 a week, approximately $4000 a month now.

  • I'm very well aware that it's very expensive, but Sydney is one of the most expensive city to live in the world.

  • And also, if you do go a bit further outside of the city, it does become cheaper.

  • But the reason why we chose this apartment when we decided that we were going to move to Sydney in 2000 and 19, Eric and I knew nothing about Sydney.

  • I've only been to Sydney like a couple of times before for work, and I would only say for maybe one day, two days, then go back to Perth straight away.

  • So I never really got the chance to explore other suburbs, so we decided when we moved to Sydney that we were going to rent in the city for a year, try and explore other suburbs and then eventually move out into the suburbs when we decide to move.

  • Now, yes, so one of the downsides of living in the city, the noise.

  • It's very noisy because Sydney drivers are crazy.

  • They just beef and everything.

  • It's like just chill.

  • Anyway, where was I at?

  • So the original plan was to move to Sydney, explore for a year, move out and then, you know, settle down.

  • But okay, Unfortunately, COVID came up when our lease expired for this place last year.

  • And I wasn't really comfortable going out to apartment viewings.

  • Drink over now during covid.

  • All the apartment viewings like they were all done online anyway, so I didn't really want to move into a place without seeing it in person first.

  • And also because of what was going on, I wasn't really comfortable moving, so we decided to sign for another year and got a red reduction because of you know what was going on.

  • When we first moved to Sydney, I actually already had my eyes set on this apartment building because I was looking online for apartments for a couple of weeks before we came over.

  • Now I believe we looked at eight apartments in this building.

  • This was actually the very first apartment I visited.

  • And initially I didn't like it mainly because the corner apartment they looked like a penthouse because they were all open window, which looks stunning in the photos.

  • So when I went to look at the apartments in person, I don't know, like departments were smaller.

  • Also, the layout was kind of strange.

  • And yeah, there was just a lot of things that I felt that wouldn't work for me.

  • So I went to a few different buildings around this area, and this was apartment I kept coming back to, mainly because they had a storage room, so that was really unique.

  • And also, the space in this apartment was really great for two people.

  • So whenever friends would come over, they would have a spare room that they can stay in.

  • The location was good.

  • Size was great.

  • So yeah, that's why in the end we chose his apartment.

  • I am very, very glad I stayed in this apartment because, okay, first of all because it's in the middle of the city.

  • I can just literally go downstairs and everything.

  • Is that food, shopping, trained, whatever I wanted, just good as this convenience.

  • This place was absolutely amazing.

  • Love that.

  • And I would definitely miss that the most about this place.

  • There are a lot of complaints I have about this place is, well, the main one being that there's no car park.

  • So I actually think that the fact that I was paying almost $1000 a week for this apartment and having no car park is kind of ridiculous, because there are a lot of apartments in the city going for around the same price or cheaper that has a car park.

  • So that's one downside.

  • But at the same time, I felt like we didn't really need a car for the first year anyway, because we were just exploring the city.

  • But now that I've been in Sydney for almost two years now, I feel like it's time to move on, and I really wanted to get out, get a car, explore other areas, so yeah, that was one of the main reasons why we wanted to move out.

  • Um, I mean, I love this location, but at the same time it does get very noisy, as you guys may have heard earlier.

  • There's always like beeping downstairs.

  • You can hear the tram going sometimes on a Saturday night.

  • You'll hear people yelling because you know, there's bars and pubs around and you know what?

  • Like it's not that bad, but I feel like it would be nice.

  • So for me to get a new place in the location, that's, you know, a bit more quiet so I can enjoy, like, a more quiet lifestyle.

  • But yeah, like I said, I just feel like it's time to move on now when I talked about rental prices on my blog channel, if you guys haven't yet follow my blog channel because you guys can see my whole process of moving to my new place.

  • And also I chat to you guys more on there.

  • So, yeah, follow that channel if you wanna get up to date on what I get up to.

  • But anyway, I made a video on like, you know, me, looking at apartments and showing rental prices, and people ask me, Why don't you just buy a house with the rent, you're gonna be paying for that apartment, and I just want to quickly brush over there.

  • But pretty much I don't think it's worth it for me right now to buy in Sydney, because I don't know if I'm going to be staying here forever.

  • I may go back to Perth in a couple of years.

  • I'm not too sure yet.

  • And also people, I feel like people just don't understand how expensive Sydney actually is.

  • If you want to buy investment property, I would go to other Australian cities, not Sydney, because foreign investors have driven up the price so much that it's so ridiculous.

  • Eric and I were actually looking at buying a place in Sydney last year and yeah, we were looking around in different suburbs and it's still very, very expensive if you're comparing to other Australian cities.

  • So for me and Eric, if we were to buy a place, I would want at least three bedrooms and I would want a house, not apartment to settle down in.

  • And everywhere we looked, everything was at least $1.5 million.

  • So if you were to buy that, you need at least 20% deposit.

  • That's like 260 grand.

  • Plus, you got stamp duty.

  • That's like, I don't know, I'd say another 60 grand on top of that.

  • So that's like, 300 and 20 grand.

  • You need upfront to pay for, like, you know, the first down payment.

  • So for me, I just feel like I want to pay off my place.

  • I have in for first.

  • So once we realized all those costs, we were like, No, it's just not worth it.

  • So okay, obviously, if we are going to stay here forever, then, yeah, we'll eventually buy a place, But at the moment, I'm just not sure that's why um, I don't want to buy a place yet, but yeah, I feel that that is all that I wanted to say about this apartment.

  • I feel really sad right now, actually, because this is probably going to be the last time that I'm going to be in this apartment.

  • We cleared out last week, and for the past couple of days, we've been coming in and cleaning up the place that is ready to give back to the landlord and yeah, I don't know I just feel really sad because we've been in here for two years, you know, there's been really good memories, So leaving socks, but at the same time, I'm very happy with the new place.

  • So it's like a new chapter in our lives.

  • Anyway, guys, thank you so much for watching this video.

  • I really hope that you enjoyed it.
