  • I am evil update right now.

  • And you don't let me give you a peek at this hotel room before I mess it up too much.

  • Here is the hotel room here.

  • This place is called the Horror Icon.

  • Look how fluffy that bed is.

  • And that's the view right on the ocean.

  • And if you get the timing right, you can actually see the moon rise right over the water there.

  • It's quite a sight to see.

  • I'm here working on a project for the next couple of days.

  • And why don't you bring you guys a long thing that makes this hotel really special, though.

  • Is the woman who runs it?

  • She She's an amazing soul.

  • Mhm.

  • She was kind enough to give me a personalized tour of the entire hotel, and it turns out she's a huge rugby family.

  • I also didn't think of how much the ocean and sea life would change around here due to the construction.

  • Like, if you think about it has been it has been 10 years of construction and rebuilding in this area, and it is cold out right now.

  • It is Mm, it's currently minus four degrees Celsius.

  • It's not that bad.

  • The Canadian in me is like, What are you doing?

  • Complaining about mining.

  • Okay, You know, I gotta focus.

  • Otherwise, I'm gonna I'm gonna lose the drone.

  • The dangers flew by.

  • It is already I can't see my watch.

  • It's what it's after six.

  • PM I love these lights here.

  • I actually want to put I want to just fill the ceiling of my office with these lights.

  • I don't know what I'm talking about.

  • Like I'm gonna get to the food.

  • It's just before six o'clock in the morning and I'm actually gonna head up to an evacuation point right behind the hotel in the hopes of catching the sunshine sunshine sunrise in the hopes of catching the sunrise.

  • So So Wow.

  • So yesterday, when I spoke to the woman who runs the hotel, the whole icon, she told me of their experience coming up here.

  • They set up fire right here and watched the sunrise here.

  • It's about 6.

  • 45 right now.

  • And judging from how the sky looks during this season, chances are the sons actually gonna rise over the mountains.

  • Yeah, there's another evacuation point here.

  • It seems like the sun's actually gonna come up from right over there.

  • This area has been under construction, being completely rebuilt for the last decade.

  • Now, while it's one of the older areas of Japan, all the roads in the parking lots and everything, our brand new.

  • It's an interesting site.

  • So all right, let's head down for a meeting.

  • Her story of everything that happened and how it played out was just incredible.

  • And she decided to stop telling the story from this year.

  • So I'm glad that I was able to kind of capture it and immortalize it, which again is pretty much the point of all of this.

  • But I am going to be late.

  • So let's get going just before noon and I'm out grabbing basically as many shots of the area as I can.

  • I've got a rough shot list in my head, but nothing formal.

  • And then food.

  • I'm gonna need food because I am perpetually hungry on this trip.

  • I don't know why.

  • Stopping at the you know Sato Visitor Center to grab some food, no idea what's available, and suddenly it's sunny.

  • What?

  • Yeah, all right.

  • I got my food options here.

  • I will probably get everything because I'm incredibly hungry.

  • And for some reason, when you step inside, they have a much bigger menu.

  • So I guess I'll be eating much more.

  • Usually when I'm this close to the ocean, I'm going to go for seafood.

  • But tonight's dinner at the hotel is probably gonna be seafood.

  • So I think I'm going with tone cuts.

  • Yeah, Yeah, yeah, yeah, Literally.

  • Not the first.

  • Clear how to open that door.

  • Okay, I got a couple more hours of sunlight, so I'm going to gather as many shots as I can.

  • I think I'm gonna go check out one of the evacuation sites near here where the high school evacuated to that.

  • Yeah, Yeah, yeah.

  • Also, I didn't have a proper amount for my camera, so I picked up some tape.

  • It It works.

  • It works for now.

  • Mhm.

  • I'm quickly running out of daylight.

  • The sun is actually about to go down behind that mountain right there.

  • But I was driving by and found this.

  • Sure.

  • Yeah.

  • Look at this.

  • 28.

  • I want to I want to know the story behind this thing.

  • And just down the road from that is this area right here.

  • There's a little shrine like space up here.

  • But it was these that caught my eye.

  • These little legend of Zelda style vases.

  • Just just laying here.

  • I don't know why I like that so much, but I do.

  • I do.

  • Okay.

  • All right.

  • I gotta get back on the road.

  • Seriously?

  • Seriously.

  • Running out of light?

  • Yeah, All my sunlight is gone.

  • But I found this shrine gate on my way back to the hotel, and I thought I'd come up and take a peek.

  • And what's up this hill?

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah, I really should be heading back so I can start sorting out files and do a touch of the edit so I can take a peek, But But I'm procrastinating rebels and a gun.

  • Mhm for tonight's dinner, I'm going to have a meeting with a local gentleman who?

  • He's just the guy who knows everybody out here.

  • I met him a couple months back and he was kind enough to help me out with a lot of introductions and a lot of communication and getting things set up for me during this project.

  • So we're going to have dinner tonight and touch base.

  • But last time I came he took me to this amazing shrine that he says is is meant to represent one of the original.

  • You know, I feel like I'm almost gonna have to do a separate piece on it at some point, because it's a really, really cool space, I think I think I think we're gonna have to come back again.

  • Mhm, Mhm.

  • I am not gonna lie.

  • These stairs terrify me.

  • Wow, This is steep.

  • Oh, my.

  • Oh, this was a poor choice.

  • Ah, but look at that.

  • This one isn't even think like Look at these.

  • They're not even big enough to fit my feet.

  • What in the world?

  • Mm.

  • I also forgot this was recording.

  • So there we go.

  • That Okay, that is going to be the biggest file ever.

  • On my way back.

  • Randomly found a Banda Yaki truck.

  • That's I don't know why what you want.

  • I love this.

  • So Okay, it's called panda yaki because well, here it looks like a panda.

  • Sorry, Panda.

  • Are you high?

  • Oh, I'm still just really happy that that truck deserved before I forget.

  • Of course.

  • Mhm.

  • Perfect.

  • I probably shouldn't have eaten the panda Jackie right before the dinner meeting.

  • is.

  • Am I late?

  • No, I'm not late.

  • I have got to quickly charge everything.

  • Got to use these little windows of time efficiently.

  • Otherwise it all piles up to the end of the night.

  • And then I don't end up sleeping.

  • Don't ask me how I went through three drone batteries today.

  • I also need to dump 128 gigabytes footage.

  • Card is completely full.

  • And like off to the bath.

  • Also, I just realized I just walked in here with a camera without a second thought in the world.

  • But I'm the only I'm the only guest.

  • There's nobody else here.

  • Uh, good morning.

  • It is eight o'clock.

  • And how nice was that bath yesterday?

  • I really I've come out to the center of the city to gather up as many shots as I can before I box off one or maybe two more interviews.

  • And I always find myself wondering at this has Mr Adams.

  • Now it's eight o'clock.

  • So I'm about, you know, all packed up to check out.

  • And it was like, let me let me show you one of the nice rooms.

  • And this this is quite the room it's got its own bath and everything right outside of the room.

  • It's even got its own seating space here.

  • Hey, bit of a fun fact.

  • I'm actually gonna drive two hours out to Morioka just because there's more Shinkansen and I don't want to risk taking the last train from this area.

  • The gentleman at the ramen shop today was telling me that the wind is so strong today that it might actually stop the trains because the trains here are just, like, more often than not, one little car on a raised platform.

  • And if the wind gets too strong and just just stop running so no need to do Uh huh.

  • He needs to go to the Uh huh.

  • I think I think Let's stop.

  • Yeah.

  • Mhm.

  • That, Uh yeah, yeah, yeah.

  • Mm hmm.
