After a positive covid test, knock them out of today's A C C tournament.

It's a developing story.

We're following here on SportsCenter following the Blue Devils beating Louisville last night.

They were scheduled to face Florida State tonight at 6 30.

Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

Instead, Florida State advances the A C C semifinals.

They'll play the winner of tonight's North Carolina Virginia Tech game at 8 30 Eastern on ESPN.

Duke head coach Mike Wazowski issuing a statement.

While our season was difficult than any other than I can remember, I love this basketball team was honored to be there.

Coach.

You have not asked more of any other team in our history, and they deserve enormous credit for handling everything.

Like the outstanding young men they are, We are disappointed we cannot keep fighting.

This season was a challenge for every team across the country.

As we have seen over and over.

This global pandemic is very cruel and is not yet over.

This will be the first time the tournament will not include Duke.

Since 1995 that season.

Coach K left the team midway through the season with a back injury.

Since then, Duke has made 24 straight N C double A tournaments.

That's the third longest streak ever, behind only Kansas, whose current streak is 30 in a row, and North Carolina's 27 straight from 1975 to 2000 and one.

Duke finishes this season at 13 and 11 after winning each of its first to a C C Tournament games.

You had that feel that maybe they can go like the Yukon Way 10 years ago.

Five days, five wins in advance.

It's by the way, the Blue Devils 13 11 record there were since the aforementioned 1994 1995 season.

How did the this news and everything developed in the last 24 hours surround surrounding this program, especially how well they look last night against Louisville?

Yeah, it's just heartbreaking is how one member of the Duke basketball program described the last 24 hours they returned to Durham last night after playing here in Greensboro against Louisville again that they won, they administered their Covid 19 testing as as their protocol, and this morning got the news that a member of their Tier one core group tested positive.

So, unfortunately, Mike Wazowski had to gather his team via Zoom this morning and break the very difficult news to them.

Now it is being reported that the person that tested positive was not on the court yesterday during the game, which is certainly fortunate for Louisville and their postseason hopes.

They do not expect their season to be impacted at all by any sort of contact tracing.

But unfortunately for the Blue Devils, who feel like they were playing really good right now, like they were playing some of their best basketball of the season, they felt like they were poised to continue this run in Greensboro and perhaps break into the N.

C double a, uh, tournament.

That's not going to be an option.

Now their season comes to an end.

The focus is on the health of their players.

I want to make that clear.

That does mean that they will be in their hotel quarantine and isolation for another 10 days.

Now, because of the contact tracing from this one positive covid 19 tests and Kevin, it's the only positive they've had throughout the course of this entire season.

They've been so diligent keeping their players in that hotel, only leaving for practices or games.

And, unfortunately, like Coach Ostrovsky said, You can have all the safety measures in place.

But no one is immune to this virus.

It's heartbreaking stuff to their season comes to an end, and now they have to quarantine for 10 more days in the hotel.
