  • Dan Graziano back with us again.

  • Okay, The dust is beginning to settle from yesterday's deadline for franchise tagging players.

  • So let's let's take a look at the Patriots.

  • They already reached a trade agreement with the Raiders to bring Trent Brown their offensive tackle back to New England.

  • What else should we expect from Bill Belichick and company?

  • We'll say they need to put together a passing offense, and we know they need a quarterback.

  • How they address that will tell a large part of the story of their of their offseason.

  • But whoever that quarterback is gonna need guys to throw it to.

  • This was the 30th ranked passing offense in the league last year.

  • So some of the guys you just listed you can look at playmaking tight ends like Hunter Henry and John You Smith.

  • That can be dynamic options for whoever ends up playing quarterback.

  • Guys, when they get the ball in their hands, can make plays, you can use them in the red zone.

  • This is the kind of thing the Patriots haven't had since Gronkowski and then on the receiver.

  • End of it.

  • Golladay is going to be in demand.

  • There's no question about that juju.

  • Smith Schuster, another wide receiver who was not franchise tag along with Corey Davis, the former first round pick from the Titans, could be an option.

  • So the Patriots they have the fourth most salary cap space.

  • As of right now of any team in the league, they are in position to spend and rebuild that offense, and I would expect them to target several of these offensive playmaker types to go along with again.

  • Whoever ends up taking snaps from under center for them this year.

  • This is just foreign territory for the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick and company who are coming off their first losing season since Bill's rookie season as head coach.

  • 2001.

  • We'll see, Dan, thank you.

  • Say they've got money, they can use it.

  • Let's bring back Marcus Spears.

  • And and it's decision time from Belichick and the Patriots.

  • As you heard Graziano and say, it's talking about Spears, Which players are you keeping an eye on?

  • That could really make a difference for the Patriots right away next season?

  • Well, number one is supported.

  • It's a it's a matter of their, um, opt outs, man, and and don't a hot towel.

  • Listen, he's He's the pulse of this defense along with Patrick Chung.

  • Both of those guys are Super Bowl champions behind Tower in particular because not only man in the linebacker spot, but he also provides pass rush for the New England Patriots at a very high level.

  • And then when you think about Patrick Chung on the back end just being an ultimate communicator, they have really good football players on the back end and Gilmore and Jackson.

  • But him coming back will absolutely solidify this defense and then Garoppolo like, if if this is going to be a thing and Jimmy Garoppolo will be approached, or there will be talks between New England and San Francisco on trying to make a decision to get him back to the patch.

  • This is great for Josh McDaniels and Bill Belichick is familiarity.

  • It's also understanding that we can now run the type of offense that we've grown accustomed to for a long time, and Graz makes great points.

  • They have to add weapons.

  • They have to.

  • I think they have to go on holiday or juju and honey, Henry and John New Smith and try to make play like get playmakers, get guys that can absolutely change games with the ball in their hands, and that's what they've been missing.

  • But New England, to me, is not as bad off as everyone thinks they are.

  • If they get this quarterbacks by fixed, and obviously they're going to address bringing in playmakers.

  • If they don't, then we'll start having a conversation about Belichick's competence as far as his his GM role and bringing in talent in the situation that we haven't seen them in in a long time.

  • Yeah, I would say that's a great point Pointing out those opt outs, I don't know that a lot of people realize the amount of talent and decided not to play last year because of the Covid 19 pandemic.

  • One of the things I'll say, too, that if the Jimmy Garoppolo thing happens, that also starts a domino effect within San Francisco.

  • Probably being in the market for a quarterback coming into the draft time.

  • So many things can happen between now and then.

  • We know Marcus Spears will be here breaking it down for us on SportsCenter.

  • Thanks, wagon.
