  • Uh, you know, my step father taught me old school.

  • You know, I'm never gonna be one of those dudes.

  • Uh, you know, say something to the refs.

  • Just I just want, uh you know, hopefully things will change, but until then, I'm just gonna keep playing.

  • I'm watching you right now.

  • Obviously Incredibly efficient.

  • When you look at your game right now, as young as you are, where do you where do you feel you are?

  • And how much improvement do you think you need to make specifically?

  • Mhm.

  • Um, I feel like I'm in a good spot for, you know, being 20 and I do have a lot of room for improvement.

  • Uh, you know, the improvement can definitely definitely come, But until my team starts winning, I always have room to improve.

  • Zion, Very few 20 year olds who ever lived has played at the level that you're playing on right now already, And you're getting pressed now.

  • recently for your ball handling.

  • You're passing your initiating the offense at times.

  • Stephen, I asked you specifically.

  • What do you think you need to improve on because you improve passing your ball handling has been there, but that looks like it's getting better.

  • Your court awareness, All those kind of things.

  • Vision.

  • What is it that you feel when you look at your game?

  • That I want to get better at that?

  • Um, I'm 20 years old right now.

  • What I want to get better at it is everything.

  • Uh, no, I really haven't mastered anything at the age of 20.

  • Can't tell y'all.

  • I'll tell you all my stuff.

  • Now all your secrets.

  • Because, Molly, real quick, let me just tell you something.

  • It doesn't matter if you tell people or not.

  • There's nothing anyone could do about it.

  • It's not like they're gonna stop you.

  • You can let the secret out.

  • Sorry, Molly.

  • You know, it's okay.

  • You're something special.

  • And, Zion, you're so much fun to watch and let me just say this.

  • We've all been stuck at home, and it's been really great to see your game so.

  • No pressure here, Zion, but what's the deal?

  • Are we going to see you in the dunk contest?

  • I don't know yet.

  • I don't know yet.

  • Come on, Diane, you're on first.

  • Take.

  • This is the time to announce it to America with Stephen A.

  • Smith and Max Kellerman.

  • We're gonna see you, right?

  • Who knows who knows?

  • Still thinking about killing me, Zion, I'm looking at the pelicans and I like I like a lot of the talent that y'all got on the squad, but you're 14 and 18 to 4 games under 500.

  • I expected you to be better defensively than y'all have been offensively.

  • Y'all are incredibly potent.

  • But a Stan Van Gundy team.

  • I expected them to be better defensively.

  • And I have no doubt it will get to that point.

  • When you look at this team right now, how do you feel about your team?

  • I know you're young.

  • You're only 20.

  • Ain't gonna turn 21 until July.

  • But the bottom line is you're the face of this franchise.

  • Can you tell me how you're feeling about this team as presently constructed right now, Talk to me about your thoughts about your teammates.

  • Mhm.

  • I'm feeling really good about my team and my teammates.

  • Uh, And coach, um, you know, we don't have the record we want, obviously right now, but, you know, we're almost there.

  • You know?

  • I can just feel it.

  • Uh, you know, we've been in a lot of close games that could have went either way, but some of them didn't go away.

  • A few went our way.

  • But, I mean, we're right there.

  • Once we figure out a few more minor things, Uh, I think we'll be fine.

  • Zion, No one's ever seen a player quite like you.

  • You're unique.

  • What is your What are your goals for your career?

  • What do you hope to accomplish in the NBA?

  • Yes, Um, my goals are to win.

  • Uh, you know, my mom always taught me, uh When you win, you get all the other things that come along with winning.

  • So my main goal is trying to be a winner.

  • You know, I listen before I asked this last question because it's about it's about some competition in the Western Conference.

  • I just want to put on the record, You know, if the pink bomb balls and dropped a certain way of a different envelope had been picked up, you would have been a New York Knick, and I think it's a damn change, You understand?

  • It just hurts, right?

  • That it just hurts.

  • Dammit.

  • But anyway, anyways, I am, Um we've been watching basketball take place in the Western Conference, and obviously we saw what Denver did last year in the postseason before bowing out to the Lakers were looking at Utah this year, Utah.

  • Utah looks sensational.

  • You know that Anthony Davis is hurt with the Los Angeles Lakers.

  • As you scour your conference.

  • We've been talking about the Utah Jazz a lot.

  • Is it really about the Lakers and Anthony Davis?

  • Or do we look at a team like Utah?

  • And we say to ourselves, My Lord, they have arrived and they put everybody on notice as a player in the Western Conference.

  • How are you feeling about what you're seeing from other teams?

  • Specifically, somebody like Utah.

  • Um, okay, I guess I'll start with you to, uh, no team like Utah.

  • They're a very great team.

  • Like, you know, they've been playing so well lately.

  • And, you know, the whole league has noticed, uh, and they do it night in and night out.

  • But, uh, as far as the rest of the West, uh, you know, I don't think anybody is just gonna, like, bow out like that.

  • So, you know, everybody's mindset is, you know, this is basketball.

  • Uh, we can get a win any night.

  • So nobody's just sitting here thinking, Oh, one team has it on lock.

  • Everybody's mindset is to go out there and try to win as many games as possible.

  • Diana, two quick things before I let you roll.

  • First of all, you got a big game, but you got an even bigger smile.

  • So when I asked you about that dunk contest, you're kind of like my husband, this big toothy grin and I think you're a bad liar.

  • So I expect to see you in the dunk contest, and I think you're just holding out on us.

  • But we shall.

  • I'll have to I'll have to wait and see.

  • But real Can you see us right now?

  • Steve.

  • There's there's multiple personalities with Stephen A.

  • Smith.

  • I just want to know how you feel about this kind of cool, casual look on him because I think he wore it for you.

  • You know, the 20 year old the superstar coming on the show.

  • Are you into it?

  • Uh, man, Well, one, he didn't wear it for me, but to I mean, it's a nice casual work.
