Adapted from the screenplay by writer Kent Powers, it takes us behind the hotel curtain on a captivating night with four monumental figures Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, Jim Brown and Cassius Clay, who would later changes name to Mohammed Ali.

But that's exactly what I mean.

Theo Hampton House was known by influential black entertainers as the time as a temporary haven from segregation after a place when that night he wasn't permitted to stay on the Miami Strip due to Jim Crow laws.

The Hampton House was a place of social and cultural refuge and is now fully restored, thanks to a 2015 renovation.

Jim Brown was one of the commentators on the radio broadcast for place Fight That night.

People all over the country paid to watch it telecast in theaters.

But a clause in the contract that demanded seating for the telecast not be racially segregated cause some theaters in the South to refuse.

I won't get into how this playful, one sided challenge ended here, but let's just say Jim quickly learned he was out of his league catches.

It was a total publicity stunt, but the pictures and the stories of that day would last for decades, with multiple members of the Beatles going on to make multiple dad jokes about how they showed cash is the thing or two in the ring That day, Mohammed Ali and Malcolm X got in a fight over his changing views of the Nation of Islam.

There is a fair amount of truth to it.

Malcolm will be criticized for speaking out against the honorable Elijah Muhammed, causing a rift between the two, but not until years later.

Malcolm left the nation shortly before he was murdered, while Ali remained a loyal follower of Elijah Muhammed.

For years after Aaliyah said to have regretted never patching things up with Malcolm before his death.

Regina King's decision to bend the truth of the actual timeline and include this in the film acts as a final moment of conflict and a telling not of the discord to come.

After the fight, Cassius Clay changed his name and declared a support for the Nation of Islam on From this day forward, I no longer want to be called by the name Cassius Clay.

That is a slave name.

We're supposed to call you that You will refer to me as Cassius X.

Things is another almost true fact.

Cassius Clay didn't change his name that night.

He did change his name to cash his ex.

In a press conference the morning after his victory, he defended his decision by declaring, I don't have to be what you want me to be.

I am free to be who I want.

He embraced the name Muhammed Ali after converting to Islam in March in the same year.

Okay, 11 thing.

Mohammed Ali said, There is no way I'm supposed to be this great thing.

Yes, he really said that.

Well, basically, after winning the fight, Ali is quoted as saying, I don't have a mark on my face and I beat Sonny Liston and I'm just 22 years old.

I must be the greatest.

So not word for word.

But I could totally see him saying it in the mirror.

I am 210 and a half pounds of trouble, boys.

And what they didn't know is when they weighed me in a half pound of it wasn't even me.
