There's been a few times a Pixar film has made me cry.
A few. Just a few.
Maybe a lot.
Okay, okay, yes.
[THEME MUSIC]
Hello, everyone, and welcome to a brand new episode
of "What's Up Disney+," where we talk about all things
Disney+.
I'm Andre.
And I'm Jenny.
Hey, Andre, what's going on?
What are you doing?
I actually am proud of myself, I made a waffle this week
but it was a Mandalorian waffle.
So when you pressed it on and then put it up,
it had the shape of the Child on the waffle.
So that was pretty cool.
Excuse me, I'm over here making square waffles.
It's all right, Jenny, I will teach
you the Mandalorian secrets of breakfast making at some point.
But I had to bring it up, because what would a What's
Up Disney+ episode be without talking
about "The Mandalorian"?
And today, we're serving up some piping hot bone broth to talk
about the Season 2 premiere.
And we're looking in on the new Disney+ series,
"Inside Pixar," and we're going to be talking to the fastest
guy from "The Incredibles."
Well, that sounds incredible, so let's
dash into this episode.
See what I did there Jenny?
Incredible, and dash.
Look at me dashing, look at me.
Pretend that I just dash-
Just.
Okay.
The bounty continues with Season 2
of "The Mandalorian."
It's back with Chapter 9, The Marshal.
It's back, Andre!
It is!
I can't believe it.
We waited for so long, and now that it's
finally here, what were your thoughts on Episode 1?
I absolutely loved it.
First off, spoiler alert if you haven't seen the episode,
go watch it because we're going to deep dive into it right now.
But yes, I really enjoyed this episode, so great
to see this show returning.
And it starts off strong with the opening scene,
which we saw a part of in the trailer,
but that was the part where they put
that black screen up so we didn't
see all of what was going on.
Well, in the episode, of course, that black screen is gone.
We're going to see all of it, we got to see Mando fighting.
It was just crazy how that opening
scene took place in that fighting arena, of all places.
It was a really cool scene to start off with.
I love how this episode made me feel.
I think it's because we went back to Tatooine.
It's very nostalgic.
And, I mean, the krayt dragon, this monster.
And I jumped real quick.
I'm like, that krayt dragon though, he was nuts.
And the villagers coming together
with the Tusken Raiders, it was like a boss
battle in a video game.
And not only did the villagers and the Tusken Raiders
have to work together to stop this thing,
but then Mando had to team up with someone
who's the Marshal of the town.
Also couldn't help but notice the Marshal's armor
looked a little familiar.
Very, very familiar.
But what we do know is, we are so excited to see the world
of "The Mandalorian" return.
Great first episode, can't wait to see the rest of this season.
And now we're going to hear from the cast of the series.
Take a look.
"The Mandalorian" Season 2 is best described as ostentatious,
moving, and I'd like to combine three words for one word
and say, very Star Wars.
Five things to be excited about in the new season
of "The Mandalorian" are old characters, new characters.
The Child, obviously.
The new directors, and the old directors,
and the entire story.
There is a very cohesive quality to the season,
and yet each episode has a very gorgeous signature style, which
creates standalone experiences that all come together
for eight incredible chapters.
Something that happened unexpected on set was the magic.
You cannot create or expect magic,
and it just constantly happens.
Something about my character that I've never told anyone
is, I think I snore.
When I wake up in the morning, the Child is giving me a look
and he's like, dude, you're snoring again.
With Season 2, I hope the audience is even more thrilled
than they were in Season 1.
Check out the new season of "The Mandalorian,"
streaming now on Disney+.
ANDRE MEADOWS: This Life Day is extra special.
"The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special"
is streaming November 17.
JENNY LORENZO: The brand new animated original series,
"The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse,"
starts streaming on Mickey's birthday, November 18.
ANDRE MEADOWS: It's the beginning of the month,
so you know what that means.
We've got lots of new movies and series
coming to Disney+, including "Black Beauty,"
"Marvel's 616,"
all new episodes of "The Mandalorian,"
and "The Right Stuff,"
"Disney's The Christmas Carol,"
and "Once Upon A Time in Wonderland."
JENNY LORENZO: It's also Friday the 13th,
so you know, I've got to watch my favorite, "Freaky Friday."
ANDRE MEADOWS: And you can stream all three
on Disney+.
Jenny, got your hot chocolate?
Yes.
Not too hot, extra chocolate, shaken, not stirred.
It's the anniversary of "The Santa Claus"
this week, so we have to get into the spirit.
That's right, and you can now stream all three
of the Santa Claus movies on Disney+.
Let's cheers to that, Andre.
Cheers.
[GLASSES CLINKING]
All right, now let's get back to the show, ho, ho.
All right, I'm out.
Attention, all, from the depths of Andy's room,
to the Land of the Dead to the city of Monstropolis,
to infinity and beyond.
Pixar fans, we've got some exciting news for you.
The new series "Inside Pixar" takes
a behind the magic look at the world of Pixar,
and some of your favorite Pixar films.
Yes, and "Inside Pixar" is a collection of personal stories
that gives fans a look into the people,
artistry, and culture of Pixar Animation Studios.
For me, this is absolutely amazing.
Because every single time I watch a Pixar film,
I can't help but think about the people that worked on it, that
wrote it, that had anything to do with the creation
of these films.
Because I think they're some of the most touching
and thought provoking.
And to celebrate the launch of "Inside Pixar," we actually
have the voice of Dash from the first Incredibles
movie, Spencer Fox.
Spencer, how are you doing, man?
I'm doing great.
Thanks for having me.
So, I got to ask, what was it like working
on the first Incredibles film
with Brad Bird, and the rest the cast?
Amazing.
I mean, I was 10 years old, I went
directly from doing like, radio ads to doing "The Incredibles."
There was no ramping up.
It blew my little mind. I can't say enough how amazing it was.
That's incredible, no pun intended.
[RIMSHOT]
That's gonna happen a lot, I have a feeling.
I'm like, oops, here I go.
I know with voice acting, it can vary.
Were you in the room with the other voice actors,
or were you by yourself?
So yeah, I would say one of the most challenging parts
was the fact that I was in the booth by myself.
Brad Bird was with me as well, like directing me and walking
me through everything.
A lot of the animation wasn't even finished,
so I truly was reliant just on Brad Bird to sort of be like,
you're at dinner and this is what's happening.
And my 10-year-old brain had to just put the pieces together.
Yeah, I can't imagine being 10 and having such responsibility.
It was a lot.
I remember when I got the news that I got the part,
I was rehearsing for my fourth grade school play.
I was playing a cowboy, and my mom just like walks in,
and she pulled me aside and was like, you got it.
I truly feel like I just blacked out
for two years from excitement.
Well, hopefully they found another cowboy for the play.
But I believe we have a game that we want to play.
Uh-oh.
Oh, boy.
To celebrate today, we are going to play a game
called Super or Not Super.
OK, all right.
Yes, so we're gonna give you some fun
facts about "The Incredibles."
If the fact is true, then you just say, super,
but if it's false, then you say, not super.
Okay, I'm terrified.
I think you can do it.
I believe in you.
Oh, thank you, thank you.
Here we go, number one.
Brad Bird voices Edna E. Mode.
That is super.
[DINGING NOISE]
Yeah, that's correct!
Yes.
All right, starting with an easy one, but all right.
ANDRE MEADOWS: The original title of the film
was "The Invincibles."
Oh, I want to say super.
Then you would be right, if you said super.
Okay, wow.
That would have been a very bad one to have gotten wrong
JENNY LORENZO: Brad Bird had you run laps around the studio
in order to create a more authentic
out of breath voice for Dash.
That's super. [DINGING NOISE]
Yeah!
Okay, you gotta tell us a little bit more about that.
So you had to run around?
It's so funny, because I feel like when
I tell this story it paints Brad Bird as this harsh, you know,
like, "You must run!"
It was all in very good fun, like basically it
was the scene where I'm being chased through the jungle.
Brad was just like, "Listen, Pixar is big,
let's do a few laps."
And I think I ended up running close
to a mile around Pixar Studios, and then back into the booth,
out of breath IRL.
Hey, you know what though?
Authenticity is key.
That's good out of breath acting.
That's no Meisner technique.
Running a mile was incredibly difficult.
All right, "The Incredibles" had 600 fewer
shots than "Monsters, Inc."
I have no idea.
So, I'm going to go with not super.
That is correct.
It actually had 600 more shots than "Monsters, Inc."
That makes sense.
Composer Michael Giacchino used a 50 piece
orchestra to record the score.
Oh, I mean, that feels very super to me.
[BUZZING NOISE]
It is very not super.
Oh, no!
The correct answer is, a hundred piece.
Fair enough.
I expect your 10-year-old self to remember these things.
Yeah, now that I think about it,
it was day two of recording when I sat down with the composer,
and I said, how many pieces is the orchestra?
Important things to know as an actor.
Yeah, it's true.
Well, those are all our questions.
You did a very good job with that.
I did okay.
Well, on behalf of us and all Pixar fans everywhere,
I just wanna thank you so much for your work as Dash
in "The Incredibles."
Great character in a great film, so thank you so much for that.
Thank you guys for having me.
I really appreciate it.
Well, based off of that, I have
to rewatch "The Incredibles."
Where's my Super Suit?
Grade A impression, Andre.
You can find "The Incredibles" on Disney+.
And on November 13, don't forget to stream "Inside Pixar."
Well, that was a great show.
But before we go, Jenny, you wanna
tell us any other classics that we can stream
right now on Disney+?
"The Muppet Christmas Carol."
I was ready with it too, I'm like, here you go!
Watch it.
Everyone, please be sure to like, comment, subscribe,
and share this video.
And head on over to Disney+, where
you can stream everything.
So, we'll see you all next week.
And Andre, I'll see you later.
Bye, Jenny.
Goodbye, Charlie.
Bye, dad!
Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night!
