  • - Ah, what are the hot dog buns for?

  • - Um, they're gonna be for our carrot dogs.

  • - Carrot dogs.

  • - I'm making this full on vegetarian meal.

  • Just to give them an idea of you know how they

  • can incorporate this into their meal plan.

  • Yeah, putting it on a salad.

  • - I think this is a joke.

  • Carrots in a bun.

  • It just doesn't match.

  • I'll probably never go vegan.

  • Oh, Lord.

  • I'll probably die with a T-Bone steak in my belly.

  • (upbeat music)

  • - I'm trying to be honest, but I'm not trying to be rude.

  • I kinda didn't like it.

  • (coughs)

  • - What's happening?

  • - Dinner for me was ...

  • I can't even describe it in words.

  • - Is this carrots?

  • - Try it, it's flavored.

  • - Nah, it's just that.

  • It's like its too.

  • To be honest, I should've just told Miss Sophia,

  • that I'm allergic to tomatoes

  • because I might get an allergic reason or something.

  • - Um, excuse me.

  • He is not allergic to tomatoes.

  • - Well, I am allergic for real.

  • - No you're not.

  • - What about you Dylan?

  • - I like the carrot.

  • And I like the salad.

  • - You see we got a winner.

  • Dylan's a winner on the table.

  • I haven't want to leave over with a meal so I'm

  • gonna have to come back and cook him another meal.

  • This is definitely not a meal

  • that this family will be making in the future, clearly.

  • I did not win them over.

  • But it's okay.

  • - God bless your heart.

  • - Dylan can come and eat at my house any day (laughs).

  • - Thanks to Jenna's new rules,

  • fussy Franklin is about to try many new vegetables

  • for the first time.

  • - I've started the cabbage.

  • - Have you got the sweats yet?

  • - I'm shaking.

  • Ew, man.

  • - You're a grown man, this is what it is.

  • - Man.

  • Wow.

  • - Heavenly Father, please be with Franklin tonight

  • as he tries new things.

  • - Amen.

  • - Here we go.

  • - Okay, okay.

  • That was not as bad as I was planning.

  • - Asparagus.

  • - Okay, all right, psych, here we go.

  • That is just disgusting there's no way.

  • (laughs)

  • Sweet potatoes is actually something I've never had.

  • Here we go.

  • - Here we go.

  • - Okay, it tastes like pumpkin pie.

  • - Like pumpkin pie.

  • - Jenna did the impossible.

  • She got me to try a whole lot of vegetables that

  • have never ever touched my mouth before.

  • - That was a gag.

  • (laughs)

  • - I'm proud of you.

  • You didn't spit it out.

  • - I appreciate everything, that was awesome.

  • - Back at the Villapando residence,

  • macho husband Tombstone,

  • must continue to follow Kiera's new rules.

  • And attempt something he's never consider

  • before the swap,

  • preparing a vegan meal for the family.

  • - We're cooking a vegan Salisbury steak,

  • macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes,

  • and string beans.

  • All right, can you do me a favor and open up

  • the chia seeds for me?

  • - Chia, what did you call 'em?

  • - The chia seeds, they're gonna be our egg replacement.

  • - How in the hell are seeds gonna replace eggs?

  • - It's a binding agent.

  • - Okay, open mind.

  • - Open mind (laughs).

  • - Happy thoughts.

  • - This may look weird but this is your egg replacement.

  • - It looks like it came out of one end of the chicken.

  • - (laughs).

  • I have never seen a plant that looked like that.

  • I'm not so much of a cook.

  • I can throw something in the microwave,

  • but other than that this could turn into a disaster.

  • - (laughs).

  • Well, this is fun.

  • - Then we're gonna put a little garlic in there.

  • Yah!

  • - How's that go again?

  • - Ready one, two, three, yaw!

  • (laughs)

  • All right, perfect.

  • - All right, so you gotta understand something

  • about me real quick,

  • my parents didn't eat anything green, nothing.

  • Green stuff that is the line in the sand with me.

  • Almost like an anxiety level fear.

  • So ...

  • It ain't my favorite thing.

  • - But it works, it's okay?

  • - I didn't spit it out.

  • So like normally-- - Cool.

  • - I mean it would be like--

  • - (coughs) (laughs).

  • - Exactly.

  • (laughs) Go ahead come on.

  • I'm worried about the mystery meat.

  • Like I'm not gonna like--

  • - It's plant based.

  • Try it, just try it.

  • - I know, I know like.

  • - Just try it.

  • - That ain't bad.

  • - Really?

  • - That tastes like meat.

  • - And we cooked it together.

  • - Like for real.

  • - Yay.

  • - I'm completely shocked.

  • I thought that this meal was gonna be absolutely disgusting.

  • And I thought that vegans miss out a lot on flavor.

  • I could see me eating this again.

  • Go ahead and take.

  • - I've already had some.

  • It's amazing.

  • - You had some of this?

  • - Yes.

  • - It's good.

  • - Amazing.

  • - I don't get to spend time with him like I want to.

  • And like I had fun.

  • - Did you have a good time?

  • Yeah, (laughs).

  • Me too.

  • - This is worth it.

  • - I genuinely like this meal.

  • It's like way eye opening to me.

  • - Thank you.

  • Thank you so much.

  • - I'm already almost finished.

  • (laughs)

  • - I hope that Tombstone finally gets it.

  • Eating vegan, it's a lifestyle that will help him

  • to live longer and he can be with his family longer.

  • I think the way to get to Kerri

  • is definitely through the boys

  • because she loves them so much.

  • - So as you can tell clean plate,

  • full stomach.

  • - Yeah, ay!

  • - Back at the McMichael's house,

  • Virginia is determined to get junk food loving Kristi

  • and her boys to adopt a more health conscious lifestyle.

  • - Does your dad ever make you a smoothie?

  • - No, I wanna make cupcakes.

  • - These are goji berries.

  • You wanna try one?

  • No?

  • I'm feeling like this is going to be a harder sell

  • then I thought it would be.

  • Do you guys like strawberries?

  • - No, I don't.

  • - Do you like cherries?

  • - I don't like any of these stuff.

  • - These boys they're really trying to fight me on this.

  • - Grayson is definitely not interested.

  • I feel like Grant is still more malleable.

  • - (laughs) Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

  • - I'm really hoping I can get him to taste this.

  • That's pretty good isn't it?

  • - I don't like it.

  • - Let's try it.

  • - I'm not doing it anymore.

  • - No.

  • This is stressing me out 'cause we're on a strict budget

  • for food.

  • Like we just spent all this to make this

  • that my kids didn't eat.

  • And I'm still going to have to get them something to eat.

  • - But I wouldn't give them anything else if it was me.

  • - I will never deny my kid food.

  • I'm not going to follow along with Virginia's plan.

  • It's not going to happen.

  • - At the Chauhan household,

  • Jennifer wants to ween the family of their sugar habit

  • by introducing them to healthier snack options.

  • - So we're gonna make ants on a log.

  • Do you guys like peanut butter?

  • - They cannot stand peanut butter.

  • - Really?

  • Have you tried peanut butter?

  • - No.

  • - We'll we're gonna try it.

  • It's a really good healthy snack for you, okay.

  • I hope this opens a whole new world of food and options.

  • Opie has never really like peanut butter.

  • And he is making that decision for the boys,

  • that oh, they won't like it either.

  • You don't know that.

  • They might.

  • - It's dinner time at the Lenore-Johnson Farm,

  • and Ruple is serving a traditional vegetarian Indian meal.

  • - Okay, you scared?

  • - No, I ain't scared.

  • I was in Korea for a year.

  • I've eaten dog, we're good.

  • - Okay.

  • - We're sitting down for a vegetarian Indian dinner.

  • Show me what everything is.

  • - Sure, that's paneer.

  • This is called gulab jamun.

  • - Okay, the house smelled like she murdered an entire

  • fields of onions.

  • Gulab jamun?

  • - Yeah, gulab jamun.

  • - I wanna eat this.

  • - Is it good bud?

  • Do you like it?

  • Yeah.

  • It's good.

  • Yeah, it's good.

  • - Thank you.

  • - You're welcome.

  • - Can I give you one more?

  • They're enjoying my meal and I appreciate that.

  • Thank you so much guys.

  • - All right that looks delicious.

  • You wanna try it?

  • - No.

  • - Why not?

  • - I don't eat that before.

  • - That's okay.

  • There's lots of things you haven't tried before.

  • Big bite.

  • - I don't.

  • - So we have a rule at my house that you have

  • to try five bites.

  • If you choose not to take that bite,

  • there's no other snacks until dinner time.

  • - Punishing kids,

  • making them starve,

  • that's definitely a little too harsh in my world.

  • - Okay.

  • - He doesn't like it.

  • - I don't want it.

  • - Take a bite.

  • - I don't want it.

  • - If you're hungry five minutes from now

  • this is what your snack is.

  • (upbeat music)

- Ah, what are the hot dog buns for?
