  • is there's so much change.

  • - [Garry] I always told the guys we're trying to hold

  • at a certain level.

  • - [Carla] Everyday has its specific set of challenges.

  • - It's a family, it's a pretty beautiful group of people.

  • Cut it.

  • - Cutting, cutting. - Nice.

  • I'm Stephen Kay, and I'm a Director/Executive Producer.

  • We have two sort of rules, break their hearts a little bit

  • If you come at it like that, every scene sort of starts

  • to make sense.

  • - Well, you figure it out, you let me know.

  • - I am Carla Curry, and I am

  • the Set Decorator for "Yellowstone".

  • - I don't think I'm cut out for this.

  • - Nobody is, Jimmy.

  • It's gotta be cut into you.

  • - This is definitely not your average TV set.

  • - We're doing feature film-quality stunts

  • in a television show.

  • It's really rewarding to do all that,

  • and I love being able to portray the Western lifestyle.

  • - My bucket list of goals for doing shows

  • was to do a Western.

  • Most Westerns are period, and this one was contemporary,

  • so it was perfect.

  • - We've shot reining scenes, we shoot roping scenes,

  • just working the cattle.

  • - Doing any kind of Western of this sort,

  • the brand is really important.

  • - You're gonna live up to the brand

  • or I'm gonna fucking take it back, do you hear me?

  • - When I get a script from Taylor,

  • sometimes he's written stuff where the first read,

  • I go through it, and head in my hands wondering

  • how we're gonna accomplish this.

  • - Taylor's pretty good about, he'll figure out weird stuff,

  • and you know, he'll call you at midnight and go,

  • "Hey, I got this scene."

  • And you're like, "Ugh, what do you want," you know?

  • And, "Okay, fine."

  • And then, you think maybe he's forgot it, but he doesn't.

  • - Why don't you come on over, bring a horse,

  • we'll go for a ride, maybe chase some cows.

  • - If there's something big coming,

  • I can actually pick up the phone

  • if I get a whiff of something.

  • He'll talk to me about what he's thinking,

  • and give us an idea of what's happening.

  • We can react in about a week to something big.

  • (motorcycles clanging)

  • We can react now if it has to happen right away (laughs).

  • - We all pool our thoughts and get an idea

  • of what we want this to look like.

  • - Everyone is a real detail person.

  • - Every discipline is a little bit different.

  • - You know, everyone has a list of goals.

  • - You prep differently every episode.

  • - And then, when we pull it off,

  • it's always pretty satisfying.

  • - You know, I got half a mind to run up that hill

  • and do it again.

  • - We finished last season in a place going,

  • "That was exhausting (sighs).

  • "I need a breath, I need a moment of peace."

  • - Season three, woo!

  • It's gonna have a lot of people talking.

  • - I like what I do, everything is a new challenge.

  • It's been really fun.

  • - The soul of this is a poem, it's a cowboy poem.

  • - It's how we used to do it.

  • - Yeah, well, never should've stopped.

  • (dramatic country music)

- What does the day bring us?
