  • BOTH: "High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special."

  • "High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special."

  • "High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special."

  • Whoo!

  • Blah.

  • [LIVELY MUSIC]

  • Ha! Boom, baby.

  • It's another episode of "What's Up, Disney+"

  • where we talk about all things Disney+.

  • Uh huh, uh huh, uh huh.

  • Today, we are full of school, team, and llama spirit.

  • Llama spirit?

  • Well, I don't think that's a thing.

  • But I can certainly see us getting into the groove.

  • But we digress.

  • First things first, let's get our head

  • in the game with "High School Musical: The Musical:

  • The Holiday Special."

  • Yes.

  • And from the stage to the field, we

  • have the Disney+ original film "Safety,"

  • and to end things off with a groove, [SQUEAKS].

  • Translation: "The Emperor's New Groove"

  • has a big anniversary to celebrate.

  • So let's get to it.

  • Not only is it time to warm up for the holiday season,

  • but it's time to warm up for the stage once more.

  • "High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special"

  • is serving up their best pop and lock and jam and breaks

  • in this new holiday special which premieres tomorrow,

  • and it includes a sneak peek of Season

  • Two of "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series."

  • I love that title.

  • Same.

  • So Jenny, what did you think of Season One?

  • Drama students, drama, like real drama,

  • comedy, it was great.

  • And it's just so meta to have performances

  • of the original "High School Musical" songs

  • as well as new songs from students who are putting

  • on the high school musical at the school

  • where "High School Musical" was filmed.

  • This is definitely a series that does

  • not stick to the status quo.

  • No.

  • And breaking free from their meta, musical lives,

  • we caught up with the newest East High drama students.

  • Let's take a look.

  • If I could describe Julia Lester in three Disney+

  • characters, it's very easy.

  • Well, one, Ashlynn, her character on "High

  • School Musical: The Musical: The Series."

  • She is to a T like perfectly Ashlynn.

  • If I were to describe Kate in Three Disney+ characters, first

  • of all, I love her so much.

  • She is so talented.

  • Y'all need to check her out, she's literally amazing.

  • If I had to describe Mark St. Cyr using three Disney+

  • characters, I think he would be a little bit of Buzz Lightyear

  • from "Toy Story"--

  • Rapunzel from "Tangled" because she's

  • so fearless and just so iconic.

  • I feel like Olaf is a good one.

  • Because she's very goofy, and Olaf is a very goofy,

  • like lovable, like little fun snowman.

  • A little bit of Maui from "Moana."

  • Hannah Montana because her voice is beautiful.

  • She's like very Mulan-esque.

  • I guess. Dhe's a very strong, empowered

  • woman, which is fantastic.

  • She has a very strong will, and you know, knows what

  • she wants and goes after it.

  • Snow White.

  • I don't know what it is about Kate

  • that literally just makes me feel

  • like she's a Disney princess.

  • And, of course, a little bit of Mr

  • Mazzara from "High School Musical: The Musical:

  • The Series."

  • My Disney+ crush?

  • Uh--

  • My Disney+ crush is the one and only Michael

  • B. Jordan from "Black Panther."

  • My Disney+ crush has to be Joy from the "Inside Out."

  • Hannah Montana-- that's, that's, that's a good one.

  • I've been following Michael B. Jordan for a minute,

  • and I must say that man is chef's kiss, absolutely

  • just perfectly made, perfectly.

  • She is so happy, and I think she'd be a wonderful person

  • to spend the day with.

  • I grew up loving "Hannah Montana,"

  • so I can't pass over Hannah Montana

  • on the Disney+ crush.

  • "High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special"

  • is out tomorrow,

  • and you can stream Season One of "High

  • School Musical: The Musical: The Series" now on Disney+.

  • Wow, you guys, the Disney Investor Day just happened.

  • And boy, do we have some news for you.

  • Yes, we do.

  • An incredible slate of Disney+ original movies and series

  • were just announced.

  • Now if you want to see the entire list,

  • definitely check out Disney on Twitter.

  • But we have got to go through at least some

  • of the movies and series that we're excited for.

  • And there is a lot.

  • First, I want to start off by talking

  • about the reimagined classics.

  • I am so excited about series like "The Mighty Ducks:

  • Game Changers," "Turner and Hooch," and the long-awaited

  • sequel, "Hocus Pocus 2."

  • Yes, "Hocus Pocus" finally getting a sequel to that 1990s

  • classic.

  • And we're also going to see the legacy continue

  • with "The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,"

  • even bringing Emilio Estevez back into the fold

  • alongside Lauren Graham.

  • And oh my gosh, Andre, "Turner and Hooch"!

  • Who didn't love that adorable mastiff?

  • Now alongside Josh Peck, that sounds really cool.

  • But that's just the beginning, Jenny.

  • That's just the start.

  • Now you know I love animation.

  • And we already hit the Disney+ jackpot

  • with Disney and Pixar's "Soul"

  • coming out December 25.

  • But Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Studios

  • have made my dreams come true.

  • I am so excited for these new series:

  • "Zootopia+" and "Baymax!"--

  • and then Pixar is bringing back the return

  • of another wonderful dog, Dug from "Up," in "Dug Days."

  • So excited.

  • I absolutely love Dug.

  • I fell in love with him in Pixar's "Up."

  • And I was always wondering what his whereabouts were.

  • And now I will know.

  • I'll know more about his suburbia adventures

  • and all the squirrels.

  • Yeah, that's going to be so great.

  • And I love "Zootopia" and "Big Hero 6," two of my favorite Disney

  • movies, and to see them have animated series, the first Walt

  • Disney Animation Studios original

  • animated series for Disney+, that's going to be great.

  • I definitely want to see the world of "Zootopia"

  • explored even more and, of course, the further adventures

  • of Baymax.

  • The news does not stop there.

  • We are headed back to a galaxy far, far away for some more

  • Disney+ originals.

  • And, look, I know we were expecting Star Wars,

  • but I was not expecting for them to drop

  • such exciting news on us today.

  • I am absolutely pumped for "Andor," "Obi-Wan Kenobi,"

  • and my girl, Ahsoka Tano, getting her own

  • Disney+ original series.

  • I have a good feeling about this, all of this.

  • This is so great.

  • You know obviously Star Wars fans are very passionate, want

  • to see some more stories about some

  • of our favorite characters, and so

  • being able to have these Disney+ original series to be

  • able to expand the universe or get more

  • in deep with some of our favorite characters,

  • that's going to be great.

  • And then to see some of the actors returning to these roles

  • makes it even more authentic and perfect.

  • And I can't wait for all of them.

  • You just expressed everything that I wanted--

  • that I've been feeling when I was watching the news come out.

  • I'm just like, yes, I get to see more of these characters,

  • and also that some of it ties in with "The Mandalorian."

  • So this is just amazing.

  • The Force is strong with these original series.

  • And wrapping things up, of course, we gotta

  • talk about Marvel Studios.

  • Now if you're excited for series that are coming up

  • like "WandaVision" and "Falcon and the Winter Soldier,"

  • then we've got some news for you.

  • "What If...?" looks to be an incredible animated series,

  • and, also, we've got series like "Ms. Marvel" and "Hawkeye,"

  • all headed to Disney+.

  • Oh my gosh, yes.

  • And you know, Andre, how long I've

  • been waiting for "WandaVision," because Scarlet Witch is

  • one of my favorite superheroes of all time.

  • And it's almost here.

  • These are so great.

  • You won't have to wait long, January 15, and then

  • "Falcon and the Winter the Soldier,"

  • which I've been really excited for, March 19.

  • Just like Star Wars, it's so great

  • to see the expanded adventures of some

  • of our favorite characters that we've met,

  • as well as meet some new characters like, for example,

  • in "Hawkeye" we're going to get Kate

  • Bishop played by the amazing Hailee Steinfeld.

  • So looking forward to all of these Marvel series.

  • I'm looking forward to all of these things.

  • We've got to keep going.

  • Because if we keep talking about this,

  • it'll be a two-hour episode.

  • But, everyone, make sure you keep watching

  • "What's Up, Disney+".

  • We will be talking about all of these Disney

  • Investor Day announcements in future episodes.

  • And also make sure you subscribe so you get all of the new info

  • and details from us to you.

  • And now back to the show.

  • We're kicking things through the uprights of a brand-new

  • Disney+ original movie.

  • "Safety" follows Ray McElrathbey, a young man

  • on a football scholarship at Clemson University.

  • His persistence helps him triumph through repeated

  • adversities, including taking full custody and care

  • of his 11-year-old brother, Fahmarr, while also

  • focusing on his education.

  • This film is incredibly inspiring.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up

  • being up there with some of our favorite sports

  • classics, like "Remember the Titans" and "Miracle."

  • It's so true.

  • You know we see so many athletes go through the trials

  • and tribulations of playing their game,

  • but when you also get to learn more

  • about their personal lives, such as, in this case,

  • taking care of your family, going through your education,

  • and also trying to be good at your sport at the same time,

  • it's a very strong thing to go through.

  • So, obviously, a very strong person to go through it all.

  • Absolutely.

  • And here to coach us through more of the film

  • is the cast of "Safety."

  • So I am here with the cast of the Disney+

  • original movie "Safety."

  • What's going on, everyone?

  • - Hey. - Hey.

  • Hey, Andre.

  • So glad to have you here.

  • So we are picking the ultimate Disney+

  • fantasy football lineup.

  • And I figured, who better than the cast of "Safety"

  • to help out with these choices?

  • So first up, we need the quarterback, the team leader

  • calling the shots, so Thaddeus, who we picking for quarterback?

  • I will have to say Captain America.

  • I mean the leader of the Avengers,

  • used to calling out different formations in battle.

  • Oh, Captain America is a great choice.

  • If he can assemble the Avengers, he

  • can assemble a football team.

  • He's good with throwing his shield and throwing his hammer.

  • So he can throw that ball.

  • Thaddeus, that is a great choice.

  • I like the Cap as our quarterback.

  • Thank you.

  • OK Ray, of course, I've got to get

  • you to help me out with running back:

  • tough, fast, agile.

  • Who you got for the team?

  • My son will probably appreciate this: Cruz Ramirez

  • from "Cars 3." Getting in and out of turns and cuts,

  • so I think that's important as far

  • as the running back position is concerned.

  • We'll have to see if we want a car playing on the team,

  • but I guess if we are adding all these other characters,

  • I guess a car is allowed as well.

  • I mean, we playing fantasy football.

  • Yeah, that's true.

  • Step in front of him, let's see if you

  • are not getting run over.

  • Next up, wide receiver.

  • Needs to be able to catch that ball out in the field.

  • Corinne, who you got for wide receiver?

  • You know what I'm thinking?

  • I'm thinking Elastigirl from "The Incredibles,"

  • because she can stretch.

  • Yes.

  • She can catch anything that's thrown her way.

  • So she's not going to drop the ball.

  • Elastigirl is good.

  • She can stretch her arms anywhere where the ball is.

  • That's a great choice.

  • We've got a good team going here.

  • All right, Hunter, we need that defense.

  • So who you picking for defense for our team?

  • Defense, that's a good one.

  • I think I'm going to go with Sully from "Monster's Inc."

  • Yes.

  • I mean that is the ultimate line of defense.

  • I don't think you can beat that.

  • So, if you've got Sully on your team, you're not going down.

  • That makes sense.

  • Strong, very protective as he is with Boo.

  • And who's going to stop a monster on the field?

  • I like that.

  • All right, now we've got to pick that wild card.

  • That player that you don't know what to expect

  • from when they hit the field.

  • So Jay, who's our wild card for our team?

  • You wouldn't expect The Child, have to go with The Child.

  • Man, you would think he's not doing anything,

  • but he can use the Force at any time.

  • So that's my pick.

  • Wild card, baby.

  • Oh, that's great.

  • His cuteness will distract other players.

  • Plus you are probably going to have Mando close by.

  • Oh, real close.

  • He's got my back.

  • Like two players.

  • You know what?

  • This is a really good Disney+ fantasy football team.

  • You all are so helpful.

  • Thank you so much for helping me put this together.

  • And thank you all for being here.

  • This was just so much fun.

  • So Ray, before you go, I've got to know, how does it feel

  • to see this film come to life?

  • It's surreal.

  • It is a humbling experience.

  • I'm glad to be a part of it.

  • And never in my wildest imagination

  • would it have come to this.

  • But I'm grateful for the experience

  • and excited to see how everyone else sees my life.

  • And I hope it inspires and touches people in ways

  • that I could never.

  • Well, I've got to say, thank you so much for your story,

  • for your inspiration for this movie.

  • It's just so great to have this happen.

  • And it's so great to talk to you today.

  • Yeah, same here.

  • Be sure to check out "Safety."

  • Stream it tomorrow on Disney+.

  • Pull the lever, Andre.

  • Wrong lever.

  • Why do we even have that lever?

  • On December 15, we are going to be

  • celebrating the 20th anniversary of "The Emperor's New Groove."

  • Yes, that's 20 years of booyah, 20 years of Cuzco's theme song

  • stuck in your head, and 20 years of throwing

  • off the emperor's groove.

  • Gah, you threw off my groove.

  • So Jenny, do you have any fond memories of watching this film?

  • Yes, I remember being blown away

  • by the incredible performance of Eartha Kitt as Yzma, brilliant.

  • Yes, she's such an icon.

  • I love the humor of this movie.

  • It's so funny.

  • I mean we get some great Disney animated musicals.

  • But to get a wacky, funny, silly, Disney animated comedy,

  • I love it whenever we get something like this,

  • and "The Emperor's New Groove" delivers

  • a laugh from start to finish.

  • And then, of course, there's Kronk.

  • How could you not love Kronk?

  • Yeah, he talks to squirrels.

  • He cooks food.

  • You know, he's just a good dude.

  • He has a conscience.

  • He has a conscience, you know.

  • Yeah, exactly.

  • He's the nicest bad guy that's not really that bad of a guy

  • that I've seen in any film.

  • So a very happy birthday to "The Emperor's New Groove."

  • ALL: One, two, three, four, (SINGING) Happy, happy birthday

  • from all of us to you.

  • (SINGING) We wish it was our birthday, so we could party too.

  • (SINGING) Happy, happy birthday where

  • all your dreams come true.

  • We wish it was our birthday, so we could party too.

  • [LAUGHING] It's your birthday?

  • So we bobbed to the top with "High School Musical:

  • The Musical: The Holiday Special,"

  • we found inspiration in "Safety,"

  • and we even mastered our squirrel speak.

  • Kind of.

  • Be sure to like, comment, subscribe,

  • and share this video.

  • And head on over to Disney+ to stream your favorites.

  • We'll see you next week.

  • Squeak, squeak.

  • What does that mean, Andre?

  • Well, that was me just saying goodbye.

  • See you next time, Jenny.

  • Oh, OK. Well, then-- squeak squeak.

  • Jenny, this is a family show.

  • Huh, should have seen that coming.

  • [SCREAM]
