  • Frank bowlers, The most handsome coach overhead.

  • What's up?

  • Colder?

  • Well, frank.

  • Kind words for maybe there.

  • Try to train all my players.

  • This is what they're supposed to say about their coach with.

  • Breast County.

  • Probably did it.

  • Training is picking up, right?

  • Got it.

  • So on the game, Frank.

  • So Maney three is right.

  • Second time you guys have hit 19 three's.

  • You mentioned that the spacing that you get with Mark coming in and it adds to that.

  • But what was it tonight specifically, that allowed that shot profile against the bucks, but again, taking what the defense gives you.

  • They're very good defensive team in regarding the paint force at the rim.

  • Um, they forced a lot of Mrs s.

  • So you have to play paint a great basketball.

  • We did a good job seeing the backside when we when we drew 345 defenders to the paint and were rewarded.

  • Great passing shot confidence.

  • Particular KCP Brian Instruments.

  • It is, um, but that's that's, you know you have to take with defense.

  • You weigh a ton of shooters on this team and if we make this past way, have a chance to get hot like legitimate Frank.

  • We've talked in recent days about the paint defense, and you said you wanted to focus a little bit more on the low man.

  • 80 mentioned that, like, the weak side help has to come a little better.

  • But tonight and then just in general.

  • What are you seeing overall defensively this season?

  • And where would you like to keep improving a Z?

  • Milwaukee Got what, Almost 60 points in the paint tonight?

  • Yeah, I thought we way slipped in the last 34 games.

  • Uh, you know, forgetting wins and losses with lowman recognition, making sure that we're really protecting the rim and committing to that part of our defense.

  • And, um, even though they got 60 points in the paint, uh, you know, there, that's that's what they do.

  • They bring in the threat of the three ball to attack the rand, but I don't know exactly how many, but I believe we took or attempted to take a least 10 charges tonight.

  • And you know, that's that's what we want.

  • We want collisions at the rim.

  • Um, you know, hoping that are that are charges or birth place where we could get out on the break.

  • Um, we made some some big plays, you know, with with regard to Donna's in particular.

  • And, you know, when you take a few charges on a guy like that, hopefully it gets a little more hesitant, you know, attacking the rim.

  • And I thought he threw it through some of those out afterwards.

  • Um, that led the mysteries and helped us get on the break.

  • So we did a better job with it tonight, but, you know, they're still gonna still gonna keep improving.

  • Well, And Frank, um, you know, Milwaukee obviously is leading early first half and had a lot of points in the paint in transition opportunities.

  • Did you feel like you guys had sort of adequate energy at the start of the game?

  • And if not, what brought sort of the urgency or brought you guys into it?

  • I didn't have a problem with our energy the whole night.

  • I think we had some some plays offensively where we had had poor balance, and we've had a couple of games in a row in transition where, um, we're so focused on Steph Curry.

  • Yana San's composed that we're losing guys, you know, And that happened a ton tonight.

  • We have to improve With that, we still have to make sure that way match up to everyone on the floor, in particular, not letting, letting guys get behind our defense.

  • Um, you know, just in area Thio cleanup and hopefully learn from in the wind.

  • Look.

  • Hey, Frank.

  • There was a play in the Warriors game the other night toward the end when KCP passed up open, open, open three.

  • And it ended with LeBron traveling.

  • Um, was that a Was that a play you guys highlighted after that game?

  • And did you drill?

  • You know that into KCP toe, get more shots up.

  • I drilled it into our whole team.

  • We had four or five of those possessions in the Golden State game.

  • Um, you know, that was one of the glaring ones because there was a reaction from Iran, but, um, Anthony passed up a shot.

  • Then it's passed up the shot.

  • E forget there was There was three or four of those possessions, not just Kenny's.

  • Kenny's play that we were trying to overpass were a little hesitant.

  • And, you know, I think our whole group took that lesson and we're very aggressive in those catch and shoot situations tonight, but more than anyone else, KCP you know and you know, you take that play away like the entire year.

  • He's been a sniper on the backside, you know?

  • So I'm not worried about that one play.

  • This thing's night tonight is really not a big, anonymous anomaly for how he's been playing for us all year and and, quite frankly, how he played for us in in the playoff run last year, you know, is a big part of the championship that that we won and is off to a great start this year.

  • They've frank a lot of the times these games come fast and furious, but you had two days in between, I guess, three days.

  • But two days without a game after the Golden State game to come into this one did allow you to maybe set your defense, um, specifically to this matchup and and if so, how do you feel like you have executed, especially against you, Honest.

  • We worked a lot on transition defense against Yanis yesterday in practice, and we were very poor with it, So we did.

  • We didn't do it as well as we needed to.

  • You know, it's one of those things that you can try to simulate it in practice.

  • It's just not the same as a guy like Yannis coming at you full speed so way have to be better.

  • But, you know, I think the break in the schedule benefited ISMM or, you know, from less from a preparation standpoint and more from a ability toe have fresh legs to extend LeBron and eighties minutes, which we I have been being more responsible with when when the games were coming.

  • More compact, uh, you know, should have those extra extra days between games.

  • Latin YouTube, blow those guys.

  • Yeah.

  • Hey, Frank.

  • Um, obviously, LeBron knows what he needs to do when you guys went, and he needs to know what he needs to do.

  • But KCP seems like he is, like, as comfortable in a role.

  • Like it just seems like he's found, like bliss and mall.

  • Um, what have you How is that process worked out where he is, just like he just knows where he needs to go and knows what he needs and lodging.

  • It's one of the more rewarding things and coaching, you know, when you have a player that was basically, uh, you know, not a fan favorite of of of the Laker Nation to start the season last year came out of the gates a little bit slow.

  • Um, but when you see a guy that plays as hard as he does, that brings value.

  • Whether he's making shots or missing shots, guys like that minutes.

  • You know, when they're in minutes, they get more comfortable shooting the basketball.

  • And he really had a remarkable growth year last year and has taken it to another level this year.

  • He really does feel or appear to feel very comfortable in his role this year.

  • He's a big part of the early season with success that we've had so far.

  • Two more Michael Duarte.

  • Hey, Frank, uh, you guys got outrebounded by Milwaukee.

  • They had more fast break points, um, and and those air categories that you usually win.

  • But where you guys won this game, you know what the three point line with 19 three's has previously mentioned and points off the bench?

  • Do you feel confident this point with your roster and player personnel that you could win games in any way in any fashion that you just have the players to plug in.

  • Thio beat any team regarding how you match up.

  • Well, we have to.

  • We have to be better.

  • You know, we didn't We didn't play our best basketball game tonight.

  • You know, we've had a lot of games this year where we have really suffocated other teams and, uh, in terms of taking away their fast break and their their offensive rebound.

  • We did a good job on the defensive glass tonight, the only five offensive rebounds but, um, didn't get back well enough in transition.

  • So you know, we are a team that you know.

  • Even if we don't perform well enough in one area, you can make up for it in other areas.

  • And I think we saw that tonight with some of our competitive spirit plays on the defensive end in the half court in the second half, really, the final three quarters they've been scored over 25 points in either the final three quarters and obviously the way we move the basketball and reward extra past basketball with a night like tonight where we shot the ball really well so we could make up for some things, but we have to be better.

  • Last question.

  • Tony Douville.

  • Hey, Coach, just wanted to ask, How good did it feel to get a win on?

  • Did it come in the part that this was the only time you'll be playing the Milwaukee Bucks?

  • You know, with shortened season?

  • Just how how important was it toe Be competitive against this team, the only the only playing once this season?

  • Well, we may.

  • We may see them in the second half the season when the second part of the schedule comes out.

  • But any time you play one of the top teams in the league, and this is definitely one of the top teams in the NBA, it's a little bit of a Brahma or so it feels good to be able to come into their house and get a W, but again, we'll remove the result.

  • Focus on the areas that we can certainly be better than we were tonight and hopefully grow from this game.

  • Thanks for watching ESPN on YouTube for live streaming sports and premium content.
