  • INAUGURATION OF PRESIDENT BIDEN, DID YOU WATCH THIS MORNING?

  • DID YOU ENJOY?

  • >> I WATCHED AS MUCH AS I COULD OF IT.

  • I MEAN NOT OH MY GOD, THAT SOUNDS SOD BA.

  • LIKE I-- .

  • >> James: NO, I JUST THOUGHT OH, YEAH, THEY STOLE THIS

  • ELECTION, IT IS A PANDEMIC, GET IT OFF.

  • >> NO, BUT HAVE I BEEN DOING TESTS, I WASN'T ABLE TO WATCH

  • THE WHOLE THING BUT I WATCHED THE GOOD BIT, THE IMPORTANT BIT.

  • >> James: I SKIPPED OUT AT THE THE DANCE-- IT IS NOT DISRESPECT

  • TO HIM, WE HAVE WORK TO DO.

  • YOU KNOW, THIS SHOW, AS YOU CAN SEE, TAKES A HUGE AMOUNT OF

  • PLANNING.

  • WELL, I'M THRILLED THAT YOU ARE HERE.

  • SO IT WAS A WONDERFUL DAY.

  • IT WAS A REAL MIX OF MUSIC TODAY AT THE INAUGURATION.

  • WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DID A YOUNG DAKOTA JOHNSON, WHAT WAS HER

  • VIBE, WHAT DID YOU LISTEN?

  • >> WELL, I GREW UP IN A MUSICAL FAMILY.

  • MY BROTHERS ARE MUSICIANS, MY DAD, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU KNOW

  • RELEASED AN ALBUM IN THE 80SST.

  • IT WAS PRETTY GOOD IT WAS ON AT ONE POINT, I THINK, WELL, IT IS

  • GOOD.

  • IT IS LIKE A SUPER '80S ALBUM.

  • THAT IS NOT THE POINT, THE POINT IS THAT I LISTENED TO A LOT OF

  • NIRVANA AND PEARL JAM AND THE STUFF THAT TEENAGE BOYS IN THE

  • '90S LISS BED TO.

  • >> James: SURE.

  • >> BUT THEN I WAS LIKE, I GOT TO STAY IN MY LANE SO I WENT FULL

  • SPICE GIRLS.

  • >> James: OH, FULL SPICE GIRLS.

  • WHO DIDN'T.

  • >> WHO DIDN'T, WHO WOULDN'T.

  • >> James: YES, 100 PERCENT.

  • DID YOU EVER GET TO MEET THEM?

  • >> I DID, I MET THEM.

  • WE WENT TO A CONCERT.

  • MY DAD TOOK ME AND ONE OF MY FRIENDS AND WE WENT BACKSTAGE

  • AND MET THEM AND THEY WERE GETTING READY AND THEY WERE ALL

  • IN THEIR ROBES AND HAIR AND MAKEUP.

  • I GOT A PICTURE WITH THEM.

  • AND THEN WE GOT THE PICTURE DEVELOPED AND IT WAS JUST ME AND

  • ALL OF THEIR HEADS WERE CUT OFF.

  • >> James: NO.

  • >> YEAH.

  • >> James: WHO TOOK THE PHOTO.

  • >> ME AND A BUNCH OF BOOBIES.

  • >> James: YOU AND FIVE WOMEN'S.

  • >> BOOBIES.

  • >> James: BOOBS IN ROBES, DID YOUR DAD TAKE THE PHOTO?

  • >> YEP.

  • >> James: THAT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE.

  • NOW I DIDN'T KNOW THIS, AND I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND THIS OUT

  • TODAY, THAT YOU ARE A BIG FAN OF TATTOOS.

  • AND I DON'T KNOW WHY I'M SURPRISED.

  • >> I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU ARE SURPRISED EITHER.

  • >> James: I DON'T THINK I HAVE EVER SEEN YOU, YOU KNOW.

  • >> MY WHOLE BODY.

  • >> James: YES.

  • I DON'T THINK I HAVE EVER SEEN, LIKE YOU JUST DON'T STRIKE ME AS

  • A TATTOO FEEND.

  • >> I'M NOT A TA TOON FEENDZ, I HAVE 11.

  • >> James: I THINK THAT IS -- I THINK 11 IS FEEND, I THINK ANY

  • MORE THAN 8.

  • >> NOT IN 2021.

  • THAT IS CONSERVATIVE.

  • >> James: REALLY?

  • >> YES.

  • >> James: WHAT, WHAT HAVE WE GOT?

  • WHERE ARE THEY?

  • >> WELL, THERE ARE A FEW ON MY ARMS AND LUKE SOME OV RANDOM

  • ONES IN OTHER RANDOM PLACES.

  • >> James: OKAY.

  • >> THAT I REGRET.

  • >> James: DO YOU REGRET THEM.

  • >> I REGRET SOME OF THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST SILLY NOW.

  • >> James: LIKE WHAT, WHAT SORT OF SILLINESS.

  • >> WELL, ST NOT, ST LIKE TOO SERIOUS.

  • THERE IS ONE ON MY ARM THAT SAYS ACTIONS NOT WORDS IN LATIN.

  • WHAT ABOUT YOU, DON'T YOU HAVE A TATTOO SWRZ I HAVE ONE, YES.

  • >> CAN WE SEE IT.

  • >> James: YEAH, ST DOWN HERE IT IS ON MY LEG THERE, CAN YOU

  • SEE THAT?

  • >> WHAT DOES THAT SYMBOL MEAN?

  • >> James: WELL, IT MEANS.

  • >> ARE YOU SHUR YOU KNOW WHAT IT MANIES.

  • >> James: YEAH, THIS IS THE THING.

  • I THOUGHT IT MEANT, ORIGINALLY I THOUGHT IT MEANT TATTOO.

  • WHICH I THOUGHT WAS QUITE FUNNY.

  • BECAUSE ALL MY FRIENDS WERE GETTING LIKE CHINESE SYMBOLS AND

  • I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FUNNY IF I GOT THE CHINESE SYMBOL FOR

  • TATTOO.

  • IT UNITS OUT IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT.

  • IT MEANS HAPPY-GO-LUCKY.

  • WHICH I'M NOT MAD AT.

  • BUT SOMEONE ELSE TOLD ME THEY THOUGHT IT MIGHT MEAN CRANE.

  • >> LIKE A MACHINE OR A BIRD.

  • >> James: A MACHINE, YEAH.

  • >> THOSE ARE AT LOT OF WAY DIFFERENT THINGS.

  • >> James: I'M FINE WITH HAPPY-GO-LUCKY, PLEASED WITH

  • TATTOO, AND IF IT MEANS CRANE, I DON'T EVEN REALLY HAVE TO SEE

  • ITNESS WITH CRANES ARE NICE.

  • >> James: WHAT DOES YOUR SAY ACTIONS NOT WORDS.

  • >> BECAUSE MY DAD USED TO SAY THAT TO ME WHEN I WAS A

  • TEENAGER.

  • AND I WOULD SAY I'M GOING TO DO THIS AND I NEVER DID IT AND THEN

  • SO HE ALSO SAID THAT IF I EVER GOT A TATTOO HE WOULD DISOWN ME.

  • SO.

  • >> James: HOW DID THAT WORK OUT.

  • >> WELL, I GOT A TATTOO OF THAT HE USED TO SAY.

  • >> James: VERY SMART.

  • >> BUT MY MOM TOOK ME TO GET MY FIRST TATTOO.

  • >> James: REALLY.

  • >> SHE ALSO TOOK ME TO GET MY BELLY BUTTON PIERCED WHEN I WAS

  • 14 AND SHE ALSO GOT HER BELLY BUTTON PIERCED.

  • I DON'T KNOW WHY I AM TELLING YOU THIS.

  • >> James: THAT'S ALL RIGHT.

  • SO YOU BOTH GOT YOUR BELLY BUTTONS PIERCED.

  • IS IT STILL IN, BELLY BUTTON PIERCING.

  • >> I THOUGHT YOU MEANT MINE.

  • I WAS LIKE NO.

  • >> James: NO, AS A VEUB, IS IT STILL IN.

  • >> I DON'T THINK SO.

  • >> James: BECAUSE EVERYONE WENT NUTS FOR IT FOR AWHILE.

  • >> I DON'T KNOW.

  • WE SHOULD FIND OUT.

  • DID YOU WANT TO GET ONE?

  • >> James: NO, I COULDN'T GET ONE, NOT WITH MY STOMACH, THAT

  • WOULD BE A TERRIBLE, THAT IS WHAT I ALWAYS THOUGHT.

  • >> MAYBE NOT.

  • >> Reggie: THAT WOULD BE-- .

  • >> James: BELLY BUTTON PIERCINGS, ARE THEY STILL IN.

  • >> I WAS IN THE SEATTLE IN THE '90S SO A LOT OF SAW A LOT OF

  • PIERCINGS.

  • I WOULD SAY THAT ALL THE STUFF IN THE '90S IS COMING BACK.

  • >> James: IS IT COMING BACK.

  • >> YEAH, I THINK WE WILL SEE MIDRIFFS AND-- .

  • >> James: AND A HALFELS.

  • >> YES.

  • >> James: THERE WAS ALWAYS A GROUP OF GIRLS AND ONE GIRL HAD

  • GONE A BIT SEPTIC, A GREEN BIT AROUND HERE AND MAYBE YOU SHOULD

  • TAKE IT OUT.

  • IT HURTS TOO MUCH--OUT, DON'T TOUCH IT.

  • >> FOR JANEVEN, SHE SHOULD NEVER HAVE GOT ONE.

  • >> GOSH, THAT SIN TENSE.

  • >> James: WHAT ABOUT OTHER PIERCINGS.

  • I THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH ANY, THAT S SAID FOR ME.

  • >> NIPPLE?

  • >> James: NO.

  • >> EAR.

  • >> James: NO.

  • >> NO.

  • >> James: I DID EAR FORTH A PART AND THIS YEAR WHEN I WAS

  • 16.

  • >> UP THERE SWRZ I THOUGHT I WOULD LOOK LIKE HIM, I DIDN'T,

  • IT WAS NOT GOOD, NOT GOOD.

  • >> James: I DON'T THINK CAN I GET ANY PIERCING NOW, I DON'T

  • THINK I COULD PULL ANY OF IT OFF.

  • >> YOU COULD PULL AN EYEBROW.

  • >> James: NO WAY.

  • >> YOU HAVE GREAT EYEBROWS.

  • >> James: I THINK I AGREE BUT IF I HAVE AN EYEBROW PIERCING,

  • I'M A DIFFERENT GUY.

  • I'M A DIFFERENT GUY.

  • YOU KNOW?

  • GUILLERMO, COULD I PULL IT OFF?

  • >> GO FOR IT, MAN.

  • >> James: NO WAY.

  • NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE IN YOUR

  • NEW FIM "OUR FRIEND."

  • FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T SEEN IT, TELL THEM WHAT IT IS ABOUT AND

  • WHO YOU PLAY.

  • >> IT IS ABOUT A COUPLE WHO THE WOMAN IS DIAGNOSED WITH TERMINAL

  • CANCER.

  • AND THEY ARE BEST FRIEND MOVES IN WITH THEM TO SORT OF TAKE

  • CARE OF THEM AND HELP THEM THROUGH THE TIME.

  • AND IT IS KIND OF A TUMBLING OVER TIME OF THE YEARS WITH

  • THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR FRIEND.

  • AND IT IS REALLY ABOUT LOSS AND TRAGEDY BUT THE HUMOR OF THE

  • PAIN OF LIFE AND COMPASSION SWRZ NOW YOU PLAY A REAL PERSON IN

  • THIS FILM.

  • >> YEAH.

  • >> James: SHE IS-- HOW MUCH MORE OF A CHALLENGE IS THAT?

  • I IMAGINE THAT CAN BE QUITE STRESSFUL.

  • >> I THINK IT, I MEAN, IT IS STRESSFUL IN A COUPLE-- COUPLE

  • OF SENSES BUT ONE BECAUSE HER FAMILY WAS THERE AND HER

  • DAUGHTER, THEY FILMED IN THE TOWN THAT THEY LIVED AND THEY

  • STILL LIVE THERE.

  • SO THE WHOLE TOWN KIND OF KNEW WHAT WE WERE DOING.

  • AND WHO WE WERE PLAYING AND HAD RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM.

  • SO THAT WAS KIND OF INTENSE.

  • BUT I DIDN'T FEEL PRESSURED TO EMULATE HER SPECIFICALLY LIKE I

  • WOULD IF IT WERE SOMEONE WHO WAS WIDELY KNOWN FOR THEIR BEHAVIOR

  • AND THEIR PERSONALITY.

  • IT WAS MORE LIKE I WANTED TO HER HEART TO BE AUTHENTIC.

  • I WANTED HER RELATIONSHIP TO BE AUTHENTIC.

  • AND I WANTED THE STORY TO FEEL REAL AND EVERYBODY, WE ALL KIND

  • OF AGREED THAT THAT WAS THE RIGHT WAY TO GO RATHER THAN

  • TRYING TO PREVEND-- PREVENT TO BE SOMEONE BECAUSE YOU JUST

  • CAN'T.

  • SOMETIMES SOMEBODY IS SO INCREDIBLE THAT YOU CAN'T

  • CAPTURE THEM PERFECTLY.

  • >> I THINK YOU'VE DONE THE MOST BRILLIANT JOB IN THIS FILM.

  • I FOUND IT REALLY, REALLY MOVING.

NOW LET'S MEET OUR FIRST GUEST TONIGHT!
