Three incumbent and longtime leader of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, took a commanding lead in the country's presidential election on Friday, though his main rival, singer turned lawmaker Bobby Wine, claimed there had been widespread fraud and that he had the video to prove it.

The normal hustle and bustle in the capital, Kampala, was missing on Friday.

This election campaign has been marred by deadly crackdowns by security forces on opposition candidates and their supporters.

Wine has galvanized young Ugandans with his calls for political change and argued his supporters had the right to protest.

He told a news conference Friday that he had won the vote, alleging fraud and adding that his and his wife's phones have been illegally disconnected.

I am very confident that we defeated the dictator by far.

I call upon all Ugandans to reject the blackmail.

We have certainly won this election and we've won it by far General 70 and this small clique of oppressors are trying yet again to impose themselves on the people of Uganda.

His claims have not been independently verified by Reuters.

The United States and European Union did not deploy teams of observers for this election, though both the African Union and East African Community did.

 Uganda's Electoral Commission chairman Simon Beer Ba Comma told a news conference that under Ugandan law, the burden of proof rested with wine to prove the results a rigged.
