  • Not know what it was for, E you know.

  • So I am S.

  • So I thought I'll put it on a date or I just can't ever forget it's our wedding out of us.

  • Although it used it probably used to beam or kind of romantic like that.

  • Now it's 18 years.

  • She's like, Well, I've I've read, I've read.

  • That was really what you said that you misled your wife when you started dating.

  • How so?

  • Oh, it's very simple.

  • You've done exactly the same thing.

  • Games.

  • You know, the, You know, the English accent goes very far or in the Americas.

  • She was convinced I dance a sort of Oxbridge onboard on Do you know she didn't She didn't realize till later that had left school at 16.

  • And it was It was sort of horrible watching the light die in her eyes and she finally a I probably haven't read war Peace, which had, um that's the first time I've admitted not having read war and peace, But I always like that, uh, on dso Yeah, it was awful.

  • Really cool girl because she went to Yale.

  • Yes, but you're right.

  • But I can remember when I first met you.

  • I remember thinking before I met you.

  • I remember thinking, Oh, that you were incredibly posh on.

  • Anytime I hear you talk about it, what sort of stuff do you get up to when you're there?

  • Oh, you know, there's a lot of sledding and that kind of stuff, but we've got a band room up there with its A bomb, and I got loads of guitars and drums and amplifiers and all of that stuff and every New Year's.

  • Except for this one.

  • Sadly, for obvious reasons, Way have about 30 people come to stay with us, and we put on a huge gig on Do you know it will be like Eighties night and we'll we'll play 80 songs.

  • And what Martin on everybody.

  • Everybody gets up and sings its's just It's just fantastic.

  • Just the first.

  • Now we've been doing a thing on the show called a Show and tell When you heard about this, you told us that if you before you were up in Vermont, you had something really special to show us I've got a picture of it here.

  • But before I do that, explain to us what what it is that we've missed.

  • Okay, so So it's a real shame you're not allowed to take anything from a Marvel sets, so you can imagine how hard it waas to smuggle out a life sized cast of my own head.

  • Look at that whip they use for lighting on.

  • My wife is terrified by this thing.

  • It used to be in the band room.

  • It's like a death mask.

  • Eso looking as you see he's lying in bed there on.

  • But this is as I'm telling this story.

  • I realized I wish I hadn't because it's kind of creepy my when my kids bring their friends over and they go and stay in the bunk room kind of hide a life size effigy of myself, and I haven't told the story.

  • Well, you sent us.

  • I can share that.

  • You sent us an oil painting that's happening in your house, and all I can say is, Wow, look at this.

  • Look, it is my head.

  • Dana Brown, my dear friend, commissioned an oil painting of my head grafted onto Burt Reynolds centerfold spread on.

  • My wife is so angry that I still have this.

  • She throws it away and I rescue it every time.

  • I've even had to drive to the local dump to find it on.

  • Then I'll put it in places around the house when that she can't reach.

  • And she is just incandescent with rage.

  • It made for still having this painting.

  • I absolutely love it.

  • I think it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

  • I might send e happily, I would happily look after it.

  • Now let's talk about your new show.

  • One division.

  • It's a marvel, Siri's, but it's kind of Marvel series with a difference.

  • Really?

  • What, What can you tell us about the show?

  • Yeah, it's XYZ sort of.

  • Well, it's an homage to American sitcoms throughout the 20th century.

  • On board Wondering Vision, who are two super powered powered individuals find themselves in a Dulic 19 fifties American suburbia on.

  • Then they realize they're sort of in a black and white sitcom like Dick Van Dyke, The Dick Van Dyke Show, And then they start hurtling through the decades through Yeah, you know, Bewitched and then The Brady Function.

  • And then into Malcolm in the middle and loving family and on, and a some point vision begins to think.

  • But that can't be right on it.

  • I mean, they can't be okay.

  • There's something wrong with this town.

  • He begins to investigate.

  • In, it'll collides into a huge epic Danilo.

  • It's such a It's such a original idea, and you shot the first episode live in front of a studio audience, and you've never done a sitcom before.

  • But I actually can see you being very well suited to it.

  • Were you Did you enjoy it?

  • Were you nervous about doing such a thing?

  • I put myself, I really did.

  • I was really resistant.

  • I hadn't been in front off audience in 20 years, and I was really, really dug my heels in, and the director made us do it.

  • And he was right, because you get that kind of performative quality that those shows had because they have high audiences in and I was really, really nervous.

  • And then the first laugh came, and you'll understand this.

  • You know, your your shallow as I am on.

  • But the moment somebody laughed, I just felt filled on.

  • I was playing to the talk on the back wall of I wish I knew what that felt like.

  • Uh huh.

  • E used to Now, now I look out on a sea of despondent faces who looked at me back just their eyes above a mask on the noise.

  • Sounds like a laugh.

  • But their eyes say I'm only laughing for money.

  • I'm so shallow that wouldn't bother me.

  • Well, let's see.

  • Yeah, No.

  • Well, it doesn't bother me as well.

  • I've managed to convince myself that Dave likes me, you know?
